Halves Casting Time shouldn't be a problem, all that will do is speed up the skills and give you a little extra "window" before SF runs out.
Halves Recharge on the other hand is a bad idea. It messes up the SF chain such that at some point, when HSR kicks in, the echo'd SF doesn't revert when its supposed to, which means you cast it and then can't echo the next round, or miss it and die.
In either case you die horribly lol. Without the HSR mod, you can smoothly chain SF with no problems. So HCT good, HSR terrible bad.

HCR did screw me up a few times because the fast casting of the echoed SF, it cast it too fast, so Arcane Echo doesn't revert when it finishes casting. So sometimes the chain is broken on the next link when i'm recasting arcane echo and SF.

Another Question, i've been trying this for a few hours and i've not been able to make it past the first group successfully. i can see on the top picture, the first group should only take 4 mins roughly. i've been sitting there for a good 6 mins and only had them to half health. any idea on what i may be doing wrong? thanks.

too low of a level for ether nightmare and cry of pain im guessing. The axxte have like 4 health regen so its tough to counter that i recommend Radiation field for a constant 4+ degen on the axxte.

radiation field is OK...its definitely not the best here...its fine for the aaxtes but is useless against everything else as the aaxtes r the only thing that have flesh...aka no disease/poison. As teotuf and i have been saying its ALL about the casting order...u must keep a hex on an aaxte the entire time and jus cry and Ether NM away....the use of radiation field gr8ly reduces killing power l8er in the run where its rly important.

I would like to see EXACTLY how teo pulls the enemys to the choke points. I pull the guys on the stairs in the first chamber, but then when I go to get the far group of graspings, one group of aataxes runs away, meaning I have to spend twice as long. I also can't get past the ones I do get in the first choke point in under 6-8 minutes......

Gonna try this for sure, but 1 question, do you need to use SF to get past blacknesses?

I have no idea how to get to chaos plains since there are so many traps around, you get so many conditions with a sin then with no way to cure yourself afterwards then your dead in the water, how you managed to avoid every single trap and run all the way there is confusing me slightly.

80% of the time you can avoid every single one of the traps, other 15% of the times u have to run into them, and 5% of the time the entire path is completely blocked so you can't get through. feigned neutrality takes care of having to walk into traps, but normally you just avoid them.

mine is as stupid as it gets, +10 vs fire, and +45hp while enchanted. you don't need a focus, i'm just using it for energy.

there are 3 groups of aatxes/graspings, one on the left, ahead of you, and rigth of you (i'll refer to them as 1, 2, and 3 respectively). after taking quest, go near the left side the wall beside the spirit, when the the 1st group of grasps patrol near you, aggro them (that should pull the both the aatxes and teh grasps towards you), then walk forward (but not against the wall unless you want to be trapped) and aggro the 2nd group, which again, should bring everyone to you, now count to 5 in your head, the 3rd group of grasps should now be beside the 3rd groups of aatxes, walk to the right and aggro them, drawing a circle around the quest spirit back to the choke point shown in the screenshots. hope that helps.

For everyone that has problems using 20% HSR on staffs or other weapons, it shouldn't be much of a problem if you learn to look at the duration of the enchantment itself (Shadow Form) and know when to hit the echo'd SF. I personally like Half Recharge for Cry of Pain, Radiation, Spirit of Failure, and Mindbender... it can speed things up alot, and be well worth learning to work with the half recharge. I have no problems at all using a staff, since you can tell right off if you get Half Recharge or not, mainly just by looking at your Shadow Form's recharge on skillbar. It does take alil time to learn that way, but it will help speed things up, and definately gives you benefits from getting half recharge for all your spells. It's all about knowing when the echo'd SF is about to end, and hitting it a second before it does... like I mentioned, you can do this by looking at SF's remaining enchant duration. If you get half recharge, you can just hit the Echo'd SF a second or two before the bottom left corner of Shadowform's recharge, and a second or two before half way without half recharge. But yeah, using staff is better to use in my opinion, but of course you will have to learn the timing for SF when it gets half recharged here and there... I've learned to look at the enchants duration to know when to hit the echo'd SF, and can keep up SF for hours if I wanted to.
Since Shadow Form will last for 25 seconds with 20% Enchantment wrap, that means you need to cast the Echo'd Shadow Form 6 seconds before the previous SF's duration ends, because Arcane Echo only copies the spell for 20 seconds... you can easily eye this by looking at the little duration bar on the enchant itself. If you use a staff, it is good to look at both the skill and the enchant to know when you actually get Half Recharge of Shadowform... but really don't need to if you can time your echo'd SF by only watching the enchantments duration. I think I explained it good enough
I personally use an Insightful Aureate Staff of Enchanting (20%) with +5^50 "Hale N Hearty" inscription for good energy bonus and full regen of course. Mastery or Mastery requirement for the staff does not matter when using a staff. Requirement on a staff only matters if you are using mods that only target spells from the mastery of the staff, for example; 20% Half Casting of all your Restoration spells..

Yeah, i prefere using a staff because you get potentially more energy with mods, and you have a range attack to pull back targets that spread from EtherNM. Pretty much agree with Rez, you should learn to time your SF with both duration and recharge. There really is no reason to get less energy and lose half recharge when you can learn to use duration as a reference timer.

while i agree with all of the above, and have actually learned to use a staff (which sometimes i do) i still prefer spear + focus. You can actually get potentially more energy using a spear + focus than a staff, +5 spear, + 12 focus, +5 focus inscription, instead of a staff with +10, +5 head, and +5 inscript.
the problem i have with the staff is that it requires too much attention. I normally watch TV, study/do hwk when i farm, having to watch for the recharge is just a little too much for me. I guess it all comes down to personal preferences

its the same here for me....i use both a staff and a spear/focus combo but i typically prefer to use my spear...its a lot less paying attention that i have to do and i jus plain old like the look better :P.......the HSR does help but in a lot of the farms i do it rly doesnt make that much of a difference and i like not having to look at my screen at all :P. either one is gr8 i jus like being free to zone out when i farm i mainly use the staff when i have to wand the DNMs in UW or want to kill a single target...ive also found that useing a zealous spear gets u a lot more nrg then the 1 more pip or nrg regen does and is very nice in some instances.

There really isn't any extra work involved, if you look at SF's recharge to know when to use the Echo'd one, then it is doing just as much work. Only thing you need to do is just look at the enchant itself, no need to look at anything else... would be all the same really.
