Well looks like some minor tweaks are happening to the team originally proposed. Unfortunately it is very likely the same team build will not be able to do Mallyx. One of the No-Nos for Mallyx is hexes and enchanments especially Hexes and Conditions as this will Heal Mallyx considerably.
Quote:
Consume Torment: All conditions and hexes are removed. For each condition and hex removed, the caster gains 300 Health.
|
Quote:
Banish Enchantment: Full: All enchantments are removed from caster's target foe. For each enchantment removed in this way, one skill is disabled on all foes for 6 seconds.
|
Not to mention other issues for casters such as:
Quote:
Summoning Shadows: Full: After three seconds, all of caster's foes unwillingly Shadow Step to positions adjacent to the caster.
|
After the Ursan nerf you still can do Mallyx in Normal Mode, so that may be the way folks need to do it. I am sure this team will be able to get to Mallyx (kill the 19 groups), if you know where to tank(down by the door and tank near the narrows between the walls), and know how to pull the Priest down by the door, but that takes time, so I suspect that Ursan will be the fastest or some other physical team build.
Other than the damagers skills this build looks very much like any other tank and spank build. I am surprized at the times in HM, as often the HM foes do not like hexes and scatter much more readily than NM, which will increase the time to kill. Also the rooms in Foundry can pose a problem for squishies like Me or Ele and if you do the N/Golem trick that takes time. Rubberband casting is always good, so besides knowing the choke points to tank casters are generally the issue regarding aggro breaking so need to call and coordinate. I suspect the teams that have been successful have been guild/alliance groups usually on Ventrilo which likely means the casual PUG group will have problems.

yeh your right we are guild/alliance groups that have played gw together for a long time, but as ive already said this build still requires a lot of co-ordination. Personally i dont think DoA is for the "casual PUG group" at least not in HM anyway. As for foundry, well if you get a bad spawn have scrolls on all the eles and you should survive. We die very rarely in the foundry rooms now - even if the spawn is bad.
As for Mallyx im 99% sure this build wont work there and im not that bothered anyway. Theres no point in doing Mallyx in HM as you dont get extra gems and a 1 gemset reward isnt all that great anyway.

Hexes on Mallyx would be a bad idea.

Would love to do speed runs like that. But I would be wanting to get the monument for a paragon. Seems like unless I could boost enough energy to arcane echo cry that the build is pretty reliant on e/mes or me/x unfortunately.

Appreciate the smart remark, they can be char based or account based. For most people who actually enjoy focusing on one main they would rather have their main go through all the missions. Gives a bit more of an accomplished feeling.
But anyways very nice build, just would like to see more that can be done with more than just mesmers, eles, monks. Such as the doa heroway build in heroes forum.

I have Nightfall from the first day, and I am still thinking into complete DoA quests one day.
The big problem is I play solo all the time, and I don't (didn't) like the Ursan skill at all.
This IMO is really sad, because developers created heroes and you cannot use them (as solo) because there are NOT hechies in that outpost (same story with FoW/UW/Deep/Urgoz).

This is really impressive. I've tried DoA a few times in some cry-way teams... kind of trying to teach ourselves with this as a guide, but we tend to die in foundry room 4 after completing city, veil, and gloom
But point is, thank you guys for sharing your builds and ideas. It has been fun trying to do cry-way DoA, and I look forward to 'mastering' it. Thanks again for this thread!
PS: Eagerly awaiting your new builds/splits
