Which is the more versatile farmer?
Just curious as to what is a more "versatile" farmer, either Mesmer or Ritualist, for standard farming. I currently have only 1 free character slot and I want to fill this with a specifically built "farming class", thus the "choose both" option isn't available.
Information to note:
- I have a 55 Necro I use for farming, so there are some popular farming runs that could be covered by my Necro.
- I have access to all current campaigns, with the exception of the Bonus mission pack.
- I haven't run any elite areas, so a farming character built for those areas specifically is useless for me, hence why I haven't chosen Assassin and their perma-faggotry.
- This character isn't going for anything like GWAMM or anything stupid like that, just pure farming, so general PvE performance isn't a huge factor aside from getting to the farming areas.
Thanks in advance

even though you're such a k00l nonconformist, that's a pretty bad selection you got there. rit has 3 farming builds and mesmer has like... 1 or 2.
go get em' champ.

I say go rit, they are nearly on par with monks for the number of places they can farm, with a 600/smite Rit or 330 rit. Mesmers have like 2 farms tbh, neither are particulary amazing.

It's not because I'm "nonconformist", it's just that I'm not fussed for many other classes. I already have a successful Necro and Warrior, Rangers don't overly excite me, neither do primary Monks. Elementors seem alright, but I imagine a lot of their farming builds can be run with a X/E. Nightfall is a horribly grindy campaign to start on and neither native class appeals that much to me. Sins seem like a one-trick pony for the most part and perma-SF doesn't excite me at all.
I mean, hell, if you're gonna spend endless hours farming you might as well do it on a class that you enjoy. Plus I know at least *some* farming builds exist for these classes.
Edit: I'll wait this out a bit longer just in case, but Ritualist does seem the best option at the moment.

well since you said FARMING and not SOLOing, im sure that mesmer stands out in everyway becuz of Cry of Pain. altho my prefered farmer would be the rit in the case becuz they can solo ALOT more then mesmers as far as i know.

DoA. Energy Surge is big AoE armour ignoring damage.
Mesmers also have a decent raptor farm. However, that is about it.
Rits have more options, but if you really want a farming class, a monk is your best option. Perma-sins are used in alot of places, but it is just variants of one build, at least with a monk you can 55, 600, smite, PnH, UA, Bond and probably a few more. Its not really worth gimping yourself with a less vaible farming class when you are aiming to create a farming character. But them again, its not worth playing a character you dont enjoy, youll probably never play it.

I'd say Rit is your best bet...although they're both pretty terrible farming characters.
