Hidden City of Ahdashim farm
Hello there, I am trying to figure out a good build for farming Djinn/Roaring Ethers at the start of the Hidden City of Ahdashim.
I searched a bit and so far I've been come up with this build:
OgNDkMb9OyDRCIJ1RL+qlCeI
E/Mo
16 Earth Magic, 11 Healing Magic, 7 Energy Storage
Survivor Armor
Balthazar's Spirit
Mending
Healing Breeze
Shockwave
Aura of Restoration
Stoneflesh Aura
Armor of Earth
Sliver Armor
Unfortunately it's not doing too well in the damage department. I can survive for a bit provided the Roaring Ethers die fast, but the diamond djinn's healing skills pretty much prolong the battle for over 15 mins.
I have all campaigns, but I have not completed Nightfall yet (so no Hard Mode available) and I have not gone past the Norn arc in Eye of the North so don't have many PvE only skills.

Well, take a look at it this way...
1) My Problem - Diamond Djinn's "Leader's Comfort" is making battle go far too long
2) Answer - How can I somehow disable this skill from completing?
Here's my suggestion..."You Move Like A Dwarf!". Now I know you said you don't have many PvE only skills, but to be honest this one is worth getting on absolutely every character you play with. Not only does it deal some pretty good damage, but it also KD's which will help you in more ways than one
A) You can now interrupt annoying skills like E-Surge when not fighting the Djinn
B) You can now easily interrupt Leader's Comfort, rending his heal useless
I recommend you drop Mending for You Move Like A Dwarf. Give that a try and if not, just keep looking through skills that will solve your problem os disabling Leader's Comfort

You would be better served using a 600 build with Diversion. I used to farm Hidden City all the time before I got bored of <10 for 30 minutes work.

Thanks for the replies.
I don't have Monk characters (or any other characters for that matter) past Istan so the 600 isn't viable.
I'll look into getting that PvE skill maybe, since it seems I already have the quest 2/3 completed.

not too sure what to suggest - roaring ethers i do know have a rez and can be a pain if the mobs not killed fast enough
One suggestion would be to get ele thru most of eotn - get vanguard side done and get ebon battle standard of honor as that will help increase dmg from sliver.
There was an earth tank build that was e/me and used mantra of earth plus geomancer runes but didnt really have a heal.Something along those lines may help.If you have all campaigns its still possible to use a 600 ele tank build with hero monk( or mes) as the bonder.

back in the Nick farm for sapphire djinn essences, I used the following mo/x build in NM (worked in HM too, but the diamond djinn took forever to kill)
It's a hybrid 600/smite solo build that works well in NM, survives in HM but does not kill fast enough for me in HM:
Mo/x
Smiting 12+1+3
Protection 12+3
AL15 - radiant/attune
hp - about 430 or so, weapon- caster axe and +27e (12e+15e/-1) off-hand
Protective Spirt
Spirit Bond
[Ray of Judgement]
Ebon Vanguard Sin Support
Finish Him!
Retribution
Balthazar's Spirit
Essence Bond
My ebon and norn titles are r1 and it works fine, but if you don't have pve only skills, switch out for scourge healing and scourge enchantment which i've tested and it works too Target ethers first and be sure you cast sb just before engaging them in case they get e-surge off otherwise just jesus beam the sapphs with finish him! to, well, finish him! and then sin support to mop up
Might be worth getting your monk up into the Vabbi region of NF as there is a lot of fun (and profitable) stuff to 600/smite (and solo)

There is a build in the sticky for elementalists that demonstrates farming in Hidden City. I don't play ele, but that build should still work there. Here is a link, skip down to the "sample farms" section, and you will find the Hidden City:
Comprehensive guide to Stoneguard, aka 330 Ele

600/smite, you can clear I believe the entire zone in hm
your 'my monk isn't far enough' excuse doesnt cut it. This game is nearing 5 years old.
