this works with the classic SoJ 55 build too. it is really annoying how they run away from you though.

Ok I was going to post in this thread I think ages ago with 2 different monk builds,
This will be just a short reply if people are interested I'll post a full reply later.
The first build is a SoJ 55, try using a scythe to keep atleast 3 attackers. If your lazy and don't wanna wait take a mes secondary and echo SoJ.
The second is a IW 55 monk, slower I think or it could just be the constant attacking. Use a scythe again but only because its mass attack targeting 3 instead of 1. like the old UW IW monk, its works ok, and negates the AOE, which can effect your drops from what people believe.
If anyone is interested I could possible post a full guide.

I switched from using the OPs build to using a sliver armor based E/Me build. The OPs build works, but due to the nature of DoTAoE the drops per a group are not so good. With a sliver build you it takes a bit longer, but you get a LOT more drops, which makes the extra time worthwhile.

after 55'ing this run for a week... i discovered a few things:
- you can only kill the Ele boss. the War boss's healing signet out heals the damage done by SoJ
- you can tank A LOT of the stones with no problem at all, just make sure to always have healing breeze for 4+ enemies
- the run takes quite awhile. For a group of 9 stones, you may use SoJ about 4 times. When you have about 15 stones, you'll use it about 6. After killing all the stones then going after the Ele boss, it will take about 4 SoJ's to get the rest of his health down.
I've gotten some good drops though. I'd rather just do a 2-3 minute run and get less drops than take 15 minutes to run with a 55 and get a fair amount of drops.

I've been doing this run with a 55/SV and it works great.
it takes about 10 seconds to kill each elemental and the ele boss, the warrior boss maybe takes about 20-30 seconds depending on the timings of endure pain and heal sig.

So I've been farming these damn Hulks for a few hours with my own build (Since I only have Prophs on this account) and I haven't gotten a single worth while drop.
I've killed a few hundred Hulks and about 50 bosses.
I've gotten the rare gold that might sell for 1kish. Other than that it's been pretty dry. No tomes, no good golds.
I'm being nubbish here and doing something wrong or have I just had some terrible luck for the past few hours?
I'm in hardmode, the runs are fast and I repeat frequently. I've been getting lucky on bosses and drop two a run easily. Just getting really frustrated.

I like the build its good for eles. But for Warriors like me I bring Glads defense and both ripos and For great justice and the rocks tumble.

Depends on your definition of "worthwhile drops" - this run is similar to troll or vermin farming. That is, steady merchant fodder that is quick and easy - not farming for rare drops to sale on the player market (other than elite tomes from the two bosses).

Tomes is just luck - I get them fairly regularly and there is no trick there, sometimes I go A LONG time without any too. I don't know of any "good golds" the drop there from your definition. There may be some *really* rare ones but I wouldn't hold my breath. If you mean elite tomes - well they aren't terribly common anyway, I don;t get very many of them.

Welcome to GW farming - you either farm one of the VERY few "elite" areas and play the market or you make a steady 6-10k an hour on merchant fodder in HM. On the bright side Merchant fodder farming is more profitable than before, on the negative side farming for high gold items is WAY worse than before.
Hulking stone elementals are in the 6-8k per hour range but tend to be VERY steady in that range - there is good and bad about that. It is an easy run, I do it while watching TV or if I have a few minutes left over to play at the end of a gaming session and nothing better to do. Basically, as I said, it replaces a troll or vermin run before loot scaling was introduced - no spikes in GPH, but then no real dips either. Plus it is a different run (compared to the normal low HP prot spirit characters I normally farm with) and relieves some boredom while farming.

How can you say merchant fodder farming is MORE profitable now? To the best of my knowledge the best merchant fodder runs give maybe 8-10k per hour.
Before loot scaling was added there were merchant fodder runs that could generate about 15-18k per hour.

I run the SS 55 monk and I kill the Warrior boss with ease. Just take a group of 2-3 other Hulkings and ss them along with the boss. I also carry Insidious Parasite on me tho.

heh, typically on a 55 bar you have an extra spot that you used to use for mending and HB, now using Mystic Regen, you could take somethign like Scourge Healing, or even something with higher damage like judges intervention/signet of mystic wrath.
