So long story short I haven't played in over 3 years and I came back to just farm Hall of Monument Deeds for Guild Wars 2. I have all four games (but I never played the last two). What would be the ideal path to take? Seeing how most of the deeds require gold, I guess I'll make a farmer? What's a good farming build these days? There used to be a sticky but it's outdated. Back in my day, 55 monk tank with Necro SS partner was the ideal build for farming ecto/gold/items. Is this still working? Soloing no longer possible? Is UW still the best place to farm for ecto(gold)?

I'm looking for a generic farmer that scales well in most places. I was thinking of making this build. Any ideas, suggestions, comments?

Also do the Hall of Monument awards in GW2 apply only to the character name you created that's tied to the one in GW1 or is it applicable to all the characters?

Considering that thread is closing in on 3 years old, its probably not up to date.

Basically for money... its hard. Truthfully i found the easiest way to make a lot of cash is to do DoASCs. If your competent you should be fine. FoWSCs as 100b, or MoP/UA if you prefer necro and monks respectivly, cash wise they are slow but its gambling rather then working. Your first run you can get req 7 max damage obby edge. Or you can fail horribly. After 100+ runs ive gotten nothing worth while but i was able to afford torm shield back when they were 30e each.

If you just finish the games you'll gain titles without much effort, not to mention the rewards (skill points, gold, etc) that go along with it. You'll have to finish EOTN anyway just for the tapestries to hang in you Hall and probably PvE skills.

I wouldn't use anything from before. For example, Skeletons have been added to UW to mess with 55's and other enchant-based builds. Check PvXwiki for current farming builds. The PvE-only skills are widely used in the farming builds, so that also requires some rank to make them effective. Note that there has been some tampering with PvXwiki so if something seems whacked, it probably is. You can check the more current farming builds in the appropriate boards here on guru.

HoM is account-based. The rewards will link to your GW1 account and apply to a GW2 account. So just like the /bonus items available now, you can create the HoM-reward items for each toon. The exact mechanics haven't been released yet.

For builds, try checking out PvXwiki. The builds here are mostly up to date and effective if you go to the "Meta" or "Great" sections. Be careful though, because the sight is in the middle of a move to a different location.

Another fine way to familiarize yourself with today's farming builds is to just go to our Farming subforum and browse through the first couple pages... and actually, I just noticed that you've ended up putting your question here instead of our Q&A subforum.

Thanks all for the help. After a lot of reading I think I'll make a A/Me for quick TOPK ecto farming and then maybe a Necro or Rt/? for more general farming.
