Put highly salvagable on cleavers. 97 granite off one salvage is not unusual.

I was actually aiming for the green Curses and Prot staves for use on my heroes, then realized the Stone Remnants and Stone Carvings salvage into granite. You also get the chance to get elite tomes, and FOW/UW/XP scrolls too. If you're lucky, you get all at the same time
Look, I has Stone Remnants!

Hey this might be kinda late but I hope you post here a bit. This farm interests me and I know it's old but the build used for it didn't seem to work for me. I don't have a mesmer so I'm wondering if the farm can be done with anything else? Hopefully in the Necro or Sin range <_<;

I used to farm Stone Kirin out of Matuu Keep back when I was Elite Skill capping and I was broke on skill points. Witha scroll (I forget which one) I was getting a skill point every 12 mins or so, gaining the drops was just an added bonus. I think there is a blurred vison ut there now that killed my build.
I farm the Hulking Stone Elemetals and get plenty of Granite.
I use an R/W with an Axe and Dwarven Stability powering my Glads Defense/Lightning Reflexes combo.

I've been farming the hulkings but they usually don't drop anything. If I kill 10, 2 of them will drop something. I've been using a monk to kill them all at once with soj, did it with a warrior killing them 1 by 1, same results. In HM and NM this is the case.
This was outside serenity temple btw.

Try outside Sardelacs and just keep trying - you can find so many out there. Also always do HM for those.

Forget Sardelac as I tried today and they have nerfed the area. I used to farm the place in HM with my Ele but impossible to do it now.

People always say the hulking stone elementals outside ascalon in HM but they only drop those pathetic lodestones that salvage 1 granite slab. Some say they drop more but from what item? The lodestones sure aren't filling up my granite slab collection =l

I have never had any trouble getting plenty of granite outside sardalac.
But if that is not working for you try this.
Do the lb/ss run in the desolation then salvage the inscribed shards.

How much is everyone farming them? If you stick with it after a point (at least for me) granite is all that drops. I farm with an SS/55 necro and I can get a stack in maybe a little over an hour if I really focus on clearing the area fast.

They drop granite directly in piles of 9-12 slabs. No salvage required. The lodestones are also worth salvaging using a normal kit, as long as the price you get for granite is over 40g per 10. I probably average half a stack of direct granite drops per hour, plus whatever I salvage from the lodestones. I've gotten as much as a stack per hour sometimes, while other times I get very little. You have to be in it for the long haul, just like every other farm.

When I was trying to do it I found the hulking elementals to very rarely drop decent granite.
I was saving up for Destroyer Weapons so obviously I needed a fair bit and the best way was farming the Kirin. It was pretty easy, got some nice golds and most importantly I could get about 30-45 granite per run which is not bad considering at most it would be a 5 minute run.

Thought that asking for farming spots was against the Forum rules? Meh, other mods have come before me and left this post alone, so shall I.
And tbh, your bad luck with the Hulkings surprises me. They are generally a decent farm for Granite.

@Tyrael
This thread turned into the farming thread that people should read before posting stupid granite related questions that I have to close, so basically I'm leaving it open for that purpose.

Heya, sorry for the late reply.
I could PM you the R/Me build (and a link to the source/guide) if you're still interested to try it on your ranger if you have one.
And may I know what build you're using on that Kirin run?

:P Well past my Kirin Farming days, and I don't even have a ranger so no need anymore lol.
I'm fairly sure I just used my Permasin raptor farming build. I agro'd as many as I could and just dragged them a long the wall till they all bunched up. I'm fairly sure that any farming build would work against them, they are incredibly easy to kill.
