So I'm getting ready to start chest running, since I'm running out of things to do in GW... I've been reading through posts but i'm really not sure which ones still work and which ones are worth farming. I've noticed a good amount of people talking about Pongmei Valley, but I'm wondering what other runs are still worth doing.

I think it would be great to chest run in areas with a chance of q8 max drops. Thanks everyone!

Good news everyone!

I know we've been debating about whether or not max Q8's drop in HM, and it seemed that everyone agreed on no.

However, I just got this while doing MQSC. Mount Qinkai, in Factions.

It wasn't from a chest. A monster dropped it. I think it may have been a wallow, I forget.

So that proves they can drop in HM from monsters, but still no word on chests. It would make sense that they would drop though, no?

I recently had a r8 16 AL shield drop in a canthan vanquish also, it was purple with awful mods. Yet to see one drop from a chest though.

it was about gold req8s dude... ofc there are white/blue/purple req8s dropping. everywhere...

Was it? Nobody ever brought that up. I figured it was everything. Guess I'll keep looking for a gold, then.

got 1 near max req8 staff 1 off and a maxed purple shield from a chest today

Yea, I get quite a lot of q8 blues and sometimes purples when I farm dragon mosses in HM. Never seen gold. From what I remember/understand (which isn't much compared to others

), q8 golds can drop from foes which are lvl 22 and under but best from ~lvl 18. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Which is why I'm so confused when people say gold q8 max sunqua can still drop. The levels don't match up

the highest i think droppable req8 golds can come from mobs as high as 24, for chest aswell(yet to be proven though).

Been running Ring of Fire for luls lately. Did a bunch of runs in NM and the drops are absolutely shit. Incredibly rare to even see a gold, let alone a half decent one.

Switched over to HM, funner that way, better drops too. Most of the mods on weps are perfect.

Got a Q9 15^50 Longsword too.

Hoping for a Magmas. Anyone know if Magmas drop rate is better in Hells rather than Ring of Fire? I'd guess they're the same, but I haven't seen one in Ring of Fire yet.

haha, I was wondering why I saw you in Ring of Fire so much on FL...

I don't think there's a difference in the drop rates. You could also try FoW (if I remember, Magmas drop from those Chests)

Haha, yeah. Do they drop from the actual chests? I've gotten a q9 from the end chest, but I'm looking for a nice OS one.

I will help you out magma shields DO NOT drop in ring of fire.

The only places in tyria to get them are hell's precipice and during the titan quests through out ascalon and kryta.

Try farming level 22 mantids in sunqua vale. Based on theory max q8 sunqua blades should drop. Especially from chests surrounded by them.

To further spun ducky's comments, hells is the spot and particularly those chests in the lava (although I've gotten a magmas near the imp group on the hill past the seer) but otherwise 99% of the magmas I've gotten (at least 10 out of probably 250 chests) have been from lava chests. Oh and btw not a single one of those magmas have been dual mod!!!! So many heartbreakers -2/ench. +29. +10/pierce, etc.

. The bubble chests where the portal wraiths are at the end of the run will always drop core skins (and tomes). A run shouldnt take longer than 3 min with 1-3 chests. The hardest part of the run imo is that Titan bridge past the first group of imps. I bring a cover stance cuz they will always remove at least one :/. If you are gonna die in this run 100 bucks says it will be there

Always run as a sin, haven't had any problems with deaths yet.

So if the chest is in lava, anywhere, usually better chance at magmas?

I've only seen 1 chest in lava so far, closer to where the first boss shares spawns.

I run HM on my ranger cuz I cba to get my sin that far :/. So yeah all my magmas except one have been from within the lava. I suppose however that any chest in hells so long as it's near a Titan could drop a magmas... There is almost always a chest in the lava area where the fists spawn near the end of the run. IAU helps get you in and out if the lava quickly. I don't die very often but because sf timing is so tight that the possibility remains that a Titan removes Deadly paradox in the midst if a sf chain then it runs out too fast. Usually happens when multiple titans are on me which ruins even my cover stance...Sometimes I can recover with waiting it out if I'm able to be untie clear by then or if shadow Sanctuary, feigned neutrality or deaths charge can save me in time lol.
