Well since the end of march I've opened 9000~ HM chests (give or take) & my unlucky title is virtually maxed. I started off with barely r1 unlucky. So that was 2 titles in 1.
Yea you get less points for breaking LP's in HM but you break more.
You get more points for breaking in NM but you break less.
It pretty much evens itself out on average.
The optimum is probably like 50% retain rate I would guess.. but you can't have a 50% retain rate because opening in NM you will level your lucky & treasure titles very fast which will mean you will inherently have a huge retain rate - like 70%+..
You will use less lockpicks to get your title by opening in NM but it will cost you more since you wont make any money back except vendoring stuff & the odd rare drop. Where-as HM you will make all your money back from elite tomes.. thus it will cost you nothing.

this, people should know this by now.
elite tomes average out for 1:10 gold items for me having 40% retain also helps alot, id say hm all the way in factions areas unless your hunting for an elusive req8 which is almost unheard of nowadays.

Question. With SF no longer blocking physical damage, is there another build I can use for Mirror of Lyss? What's a good Pongmei valley build I can use? Anyone have a map I can follow for that one?

SF still keeps you alive easily, don't worry, it's still pretty good for running. I would however NOT advise you to run in MoL because it's NF, and any chestrun outside of Cantha is completely redundant..
For Pongmei: if you take heroes, you can do the run without actually activating skills.. I'll upload my build later on..
The route depends on what chests you want. I'll post possible routes as well later on, as I don't have time atm^^

equipment
full blessed, superior shadow+headpiece, vitae runes/attunement your choice
skills i use are:
shadowform
i am unstoppable[optional]
cant touch this[optional]
dash
dwarven stability
dark escape
shadow sanctuary
feigned neutrality[optional]
optional skills:
natural stride -switch to /r
fallback
shadow of haste
shadow shroud
deaths charge
heart of shadow
or whatever you feel is necessary
notes
bring 7 heroes preferbably 3-5 with paragon / warrior shouts for ms boost, mostly for the constant 33% and meat shields, doesnt matter if they die at the start, build can handle with ease
put sf on when running into plagueborn or wallows probably the only thing that can come close to kill you
use cant touch this against wallows
undergrowth/wallow, use iau, keep ds up, use darkescape to bait his wild blow, then hit dash and break agro
and i suggest paragon so u can bring a shield
i suggest my set of skills
runs should average 3-4 minutes
can get 4-5 chests in 2 mins with good spawns
run should easily be done in under 5 mins
you can always just sprint to tanglewood and go for echo chests only, but id probably go for am fah and jade brotherhood chests aswell
happy hunting

Found a few pages back, this one is pretty good and detailed, very good route.

Been running naphui quarter explorable a lot lately HM. I think that place is a sup vigor factory. I've had five sup vigs in the last few weeks vs like 2 in 3 yrs of just playing the game! I go a/d with whirling charge for a 33% ims. Otherwise basic sf runner. Xaquang skyway no longer gives me bodyblock issues with using deaths charge to target the outermost foe which puts me in the clear. Also using a q5/13 tac insc shield with +10vs slashing and sabotuer armor I can tank all of them anyway including shreader. Been getting some good celestial stuff from there lately. A friend showed me the drazach thicket run too which has been fun. Basically I leave from eternal grove and follow the left and middle left DTSC paths. Been good for some nice skinned shields of course none dual mod yet but w/e. Learned a lot from this thread Ty for all your input

This post has been a big help for the title!! I was just curious what everybody was using for chest running since the 7 hero up date. I use this build for pretty much for all area's. Pongemi, Silent Surf, CoF, and Ice Cliff.

a few incomings would be better then just pure charge, more hp regen, should put a couple of brace yourself in there aswell and stand your ground on those heroes, dont need to stack all similar bars lol.
i usually take 1 nuke hero with some aoe when i dont run shadow step to break agro if you get surrounded

still looking for that fab dual-mod echo shield! started running morostov trail recently, and found that it has the highest percentage drop of rare shield skins in my experience so far since starting to run (about 4k chests since January)...drazach thicket runs second, but xaquaang still my fav spot to run since i can do it while watching tv

will do tonite (GMT-7), I'm on a non-gw comp atm. Pretty straightforward though, I basically just run to the right out of vasburg and kind of do a figure-8 and back (makes sense if you see the map). The only monster I try to avoid is the fungal wallow as I don't have Can't Touch This! on my sin (they are usually fighting other mobs as i run past anyway). Timing the use of IAU is key, as the wardens will constantly kd you without it. I use the following build (sry but can't get the code atm):
deadly paradox, shadow form, shroud of distress, dark escape, IAU, death's charge, feigned neutrality, heart of shadow
Staying alive is pretty easy even if you find yourself out of energy for dp/sf combo, as long as you have the 5 pips for feigned neutrality until energy regens (and keep SoD maintained)
fwiw -- I wear saboteur's armor and run a/w so i can spec tac for my q5t/13 vs slash, -2/ench shield, and use +5e one-hand (axe). I take a full group of h/h with 5 /p and /w heros for redundant fallback, incoming and charge, others are for healing...kind of doesn't matter after about 1/5 of the run as they are all dead by then, lol.

99% of the time there will only be one outside of boreal, but occasionally there will be one very close to town and one farther out.

There can be more than 1 chest. There can be a chest in the area with the Avalanche and Pinesouls. That's as far as I used to go. There can be 0-3 chests.
For treasure hunter title, the beginning of Cathedral of Flames almost always has 1 or 2 chests. Check the chestrunner thread in the farming section.

Do you have the survivor title yet? If not, you could do Kilroy's for it, and every run you have the chance to open a chest (99% of the time you get to open a chest, rarely a chest spawns behind a wall and you can't reach it). Plus you get a drink at the end of the run.

Boreal is quite easy and you can get 0-3 chest on the zone till the 1st aloe pop up. The position of the 1st chest can also be an indication if there are more spawned nearby. If it's too far from the little hill with the path split the one on the curve won't probably be there.
In terms of inscriptions the measures and the occasional -5/20, perfect "forget me not" and "aptitude not attitude" can get you a return of around 50% on the lockpick cost. You can increase it to at least 80% if you salvage the mods and have a little patience selling them.
That's at least how i did it without farming too much for the 1st few batch of lockpicks to get the hunt started.
As usual don't forget to use regular ID kits, you'll save a ton of money on the long run.

imo the chest in the norn alemoot is the easiest. specially on a female char:
Enter the alemoot, walk to where nulfasta would spawn normally and open chest (no foes on the way, and pack your build with running skills)
