plains of jarin or isnur isles is great for low chests,
for plains i just start from champions dawn and head up the river, usually 1 chest
or you could head straight for the centre of the planes and u will find 1 aswell
i resign as soon i find the first chest

I'm fairly new to chest running/farming and I have a few questions.
What's the difference drops-wise (Golds) chest farming HM as opposed to NM? IE Forbidden chest vs locked chest in Raisu Palace.
Does chest farming solo mean better drops? Or does party size matter at all/effect chest drops?

1) HM generally means better drops. No guarantees though.
2) Party size is irrelevant.

Did some runs outside of Leviathan, here is my 24% retention at work....
Path.
Really recommend it though, Many many golds.
Also, Bar I use on my Warrior.
12 strength/shadow arts.

^above i also suggest bringing shadow of haste and dash instead of dwarven stability and 1 of the regens, i run gyala alot too and it comes in handy to cut run time down alot
if u use alcohol to run u can replace iau aswell and swap it in dash instead, sometimes the chest is right in the middle of the mobs and shadow of haste comes in handy and life saving instead of getting killed to wait for res unless ur kurzick it could speed that area up abit
i always get the 5 chests here within 5 mins and yeh i recommend it too its guaranteed 5 chests here every single time

I know Silent Surf is already listed, but my route is a little different from the other one posted^^
First of all, the map:
the circles mean any mob in that area can spawn a chest, cause drawing every single chest on the map made it look ugly
Build:
A/R: 16 Shadow Arts, 12 Wilderness Survival
Not going to write an entire little guide, cause I started, and that would make this post hella long
I advise you to try it, you'll find out the spawns and the tricks yourself^^
Some hints:
Shadow of Haste is a killer skill in some situations namely the following:
-Chest at mesmer boss: cast it far enough, or you'll still have agro
-Assassin's construct: if you cast it at the right spot, you'll tele all the way back, saving time and probably your life
-And of course, it's just plain comfortable in some situations
In HM (which I usually run) some foes have very high IMS, that's where a 5sec+ Dash comes in handy, or else some mobs won't break. And the Rockhide Dragons can follow you for quite a while, and when IAU runs out, they'll gale your ass.. They can be a nuisance
-About Heart of Shadow: try not to use it on a Leviathan Eye, because if you do, that single Eye keeps following you for a very long time as well, even if you dash, so only use it on them if you really have to.
-It is also very advisable to pull mobs into each other when you have agro of them. Outcast and Afflicted fight with everything, so they are a good choice to distract other mobs.
-I usually don't run the extra route myself, because it involves agroing Creeping Carp mobs, an action that I strongly advise not to do, cause of their lovely skills Expunge Enchantments (goes through SF) and Siphon Speed, slowing you down. SoH is advised when agroing these mobs, so you can jump out when you got your chest.
-I don't run the Alternative route myself, because it only yields a chest every ~3-5 runs, and it slows you down a lot, but if you are very keen in getting Plagueborn weapons, you can take it I advise you to cast SF at the bottom of the hill, then run up, so it will be recharged before you have to agro the second mob.
When you do this correctly, you should get 3-5 chests in 3-4 minutes, depending on spawns and your own luck.
That's about it, happy chest running^^

Anything on running with Necros? Been away for a while, came back the other day and noticed a few skill changes, so running solo has been hit for me. ATM I'm running with H/H and putting a few bonds on me to try and stay alive as I collect drops. Any builds that can solo run would be appreciated.

Shadowform has been (buffed) for all professions. Find a SF running build and just convert it over to Necro primary. Simple.

Hell's precipice - Darkstone Chest [NM]
items:
Magmas shield
Magmas arms
Sephis/dead
Titan armor runes
the route and build chest spawns:
if you want to be more careful, once you past the first bridge [2 burning titans 2 imps] keep moving along the route till u arrive at the mob before the ancient seer, mobs behind you will suddenly move to the boss mob to the right and can be avoided.
1 in 10 chests would most likely drop a magmas
1 in 4 chests would most likely be gold
1 in 4 chests would most likely be armors[runes]
run takes 3-5 minutes guaranteed 3 chests per a run [only 3 chests in the maps anyways]
equipment: 20% ench weapon +10vs fire shield
take Shadow form , 2-3 movement speed boosts, 2-3 regen skills
from screen above its on a warrior, could take out shadow refuge for dwarven stability for longer dash
some of the drops:
last words: very very easy run in nm, HM i would rate as one of the hardest chest runs mainly because the mobs are so close to each other and doesnt give u enough time to regen up esp on a warrior

Me and a friend got into chestrunning lately, we duo-trio run in Pogmei Valley (Ebon Escape, recall, etc, its just one big jumpfest) . Its a very nice run 3-5 chests in 4 mins, good drop of elite tomes, my mate got a +10vsdemons Round Shield a week ago, gold drop rate seems nice too. Recommended farm if you want oldschool items.

raptors, it's actually pretty easy in HM as well. I don't need to tell you that dash breaks aggro so easy, and if you follow the path of the Seer (on the other one, the mobs are too close indeed), there are some rest spots, specifically those where the Lich is.
It is pretty do-able. However, I haven't seen alot of Magmas drop there..

Just did some runs HM in Mont Quinkai, Sunjiang District, Shadow Passage, Drazach Ticket.....a few decent amber weapons good for heroes, an amber aegis req 9 tactic, a paper fan with monstrous mods
Still have to have a decent drop from chests in HM
ps: Hell's Precipice is really easy both in NM and HM....but drops are terrible...only have had a magma so far and with bad mods

can spears/scythes drop from prophecies and factions chests? I know spear upgrades are going for a pretty penny atm and I figured farming chests that drop spears would be a good idea ^^ thanks
EDIT - also same question for paragon and dervish elite tomes.
