Before picking up chest and legs I wanted to see if anyone has done tests to compare change against other armors and also pose question does this update make knights a better choice against physical? Superior absorb + knights chest/legs -3 + -3 = -6 in absorbed physical damage

I know the change was coming and viewed as another blow to warriors but I hope the increase make this ultimately a positive change.

ok, i did a VERY crude test against the axe master on isle of the nameless, this is probably wrong, so i'll recheck the data, but here is what i got.

Keep in mind these are all warriors with superior absorbtion on their leggings and their chest.

The helm I used was the Axemastery helm because i forgot to switch the first time, to keep things the same, i just kept it, might this have an effect? it very well might! I will check when i have more time

I took the first 10 NON-SKILLED hits he did to me (i.e. without eviscerate or exo strike) and then i add them up, devided by 10, got my average amount of dmg done per hit.

Knights armor: 14, 12, 2, 3, 13, 5, 25, 8, 15, 5 = 10.2 average, so on average the warrior with ALL knights (except for helm as i mentioned above) took 10.2 damage.

Dragons/Wyverns: 8, 9, 4, 28, 13, 6, 28, 8, 18, 3 = 12.5, so on average the warrior with the Dragons/Wyverns was hit for 12.5 damage.

Gladiators: 28, 11, 6, 2, 16, 4, 7, 3, 18, 6 = 10.1, On average the warrior with Gladiators got hit for 10.1 damage, which surprises me because that is the least it got hit by.

In Conclusion, the Gladiators got hit for the least, and the Wyverns got hit for the most, BUT since guild wars rounds dmg up or down, the Gladiators and Knights tied, why wyverns was a good 2-3 dmg behind, someone might want to conduct their own study since i have a feeling this one is HORRIBLY wrong..... If you're testing it like that then 10 hits is not enough. In fact, 10 hits is nothing.
You'll want at least 100 hits, 5000 though is obviously better.

Btw, glads and dragons have the exact same defense against physical damage so it is impossible for them to have a difference in damage taken.

Also, it is possible for someone to score a critical hit 10000 times in a row so testing it like this is kind of weird too.

Doesn't 1 absorbtion rune reduce damage over all pieces? If so why would you have one on the legs and chest ?

Possiblly not anymore according to the latest nerf of armor for warriors. You can read the update quote at the top of the thread or read the whole thing at guildwars.com Some testing of situations would be nice to see for conclusive evidence as to what their interpretation of the nerf was.

i was reading on another GW website that they made it so that the absorbtion doesnt matter where it hits.

ex:

so say u were buying droks armor and u had ascalon armor(from ascalon).

if u were to buy the boots and gloves first because theyre cheaper, it did the same dmg reduction as it would if u had the chest or legs.

so did they change it again or something?

I believe the absorbtion rune is still global.

Here is from anet:

-Updated shields, armors, and runes with damage reduction abilities so that they only reduce physical damage.

Even though the damage is now physical only (which is stupid), it doesn't say that the reduction applies to only the piece where the rune is at. It specifically does say that for the Ascalon and Knight's armor.

My guess knights would be tied with legionaire but without the restriction of stance = knights is is the physical favorite.
