I desperatly need a FoW Spider Farm Build
As the title says, I need an effective spider farming build for Fow. Because of the recent update preventing armor stacking above 25 the physical resistance/dolyak signet has become obsolete. So I need a new build that will work. I have tried using protection prayers and such, shield of regeneration works like a charm for staying alive but i just cant seem to get enough damage potential/interupt healing springs. I can handle the snarling driftwoods and doubters dryders easily but i get to the spiders and they just keep dropping down and overwhelming me. I would really appreciate an effective build because its like my favorite farming spot. (Until before the update anyway.)

wow thanx for the quick reply, very simple, never would have thought of it. ill try it out. One question tho, is healing sig really enough to stay alive? i guess i could also switch to the insignia that gives armor+10 to physical and i alredy have almsot the perfect sword its max vamp 15^50 but its of defense+5 instead of shelter which i would assume can work jsut as well, i dont have the shield yet but luckily geoffers bulwark is an ez farm.
now that i think of it:
80+20 body+10 insigna
10 shield
5 sword
is alredy a hefty 125 armor w/out dolyak, awesome.

Lawl wut? Dolyak and Physical resistence? That's just 100% overkill. There not aatxes and you are not a caster. You NEVER needed to overload on the armour buffs at all
Hell the W/Me STILL works (I have no clue why the clueless are preaching that it was nerfed, 'WY' wasn't really needed much except to cover HS and even then the damage was easily mitigated with shield and knights). I've done lots of runs after the armour nerf with the W/Me (I use knights so I mainly get 0 damage) so anyone saying otherwise is wrong.

I see no Physical Resistance in that build.

Try switching to W/A and using some of the halves damage skills, or using some warrior stances which have a block percentage. Anything you can do to reduce the total amount of damage should increase your survivability. Im not familiar with the run in question, but this works with post-update tanking so it should be of some help to you.

This spot is easier when you farm it using dervish, getting to the cave is a piece of pie thanks to Vow of Silence, but you gotta be carefull when killing spiders, only lure group of 3 and pack them so they are one next to other. BTW with only slight modifications that same build can farm FoW forest too, even safer and easier then ranger build.

well thanx for all the replies i finally realized all the armor is to negate the spiders damage down to 0 and only having to heal because of poison. i have heard of dervishes farming here because of the scythe's ability to hit several targets = no healing spring. however, id really like to farm it on my warrior, i suppose i could try splitting my points like so: 12 scythe, 12 strength, 3 earth prayers. i havent given it a lot of thot but maybe just like dolyak, flail, mystic regen, some attacks and a couple other enchants such as vital boon and other easily maintained enchants. i have no problems getting there with any of the builds ive tried, dryders and driftwoods drop very fast but the problem is that im getting overwhelmed by the spiders when i get there. I suppose this could be on part of my own stupidity not using knights insignia or a sup. absorption which i think would solve my problem because i mainly die from taking 20 or so 6-8dmgs at a time. game fanatic, not trying to pick on u but dervishes and warriors both have adequate speed boost skills to break skale aggro, no need to waste ur elite just because of a few seconds of heavy degen.

ah i forgot to post the build i was going to try:
12+1+3 axe
12 prot
3+1 strength
sprint
balthazars spirit
shield of regeneration(e)
shielding hands
bonettis defense
flail
whirlwind attack
cyclone axe
this build would utilize the ability to reduce the damage of the spiders to 0 and provide a high level of survivability(at the cost of an elite) and the aoe capabilities of the axe. i think this would work well, even better if i could find a replacement for shield of regen so i could use triple chop for even more aoe agony(hooray rhyming...sorta)
what do u guys think? and dont bother me with all the crap about doubters dryders i just dont use enchants till i get to the spiders, snarling driftwoods i just use sor if i even need it and bonettis to get back the energy from them

Looks like a modified former W/Mo IDS farmer. I can see it working since you'll have no problems once you reach the spiders

Great news guys, my build works! As for the dryders, I don't even use balthazar's spirit until i get to the spider cave and I am never stuck fighting dryders and snarling driftwoods at the same time on my way there.
My run last night got me to the spider cave with ease, I killed the first 2 dryders in front but the spiders started dropping down before i could get the last one. I killed 5 or so spiders, carefully timing my aoe attacks to interupt healing springs, when i ran into the next group of spiders and accidently aggroed the 3rd dryder, stripping my enchants and the spiders pwned me. I guess the secret is jsut to be careful because it worked great until i aggroed the 3rd dryder. Also, I didnt even have knights insignia on my armor or a superior absorption which would reduce the damage by 6, maybe even enough to where I dont need shielding hands. Today I'll get those insignias and rune and see how it works out.

No need for any complications when an easy build exists. I used to use this, back when there was profit, and it does work with the armor cap.
[skill]Dragon Slash[/skill][skill]Silverwing Slash[/skill][skill]Galrath Slash[/skill][skill]Standing Slash[/skill][skill]Sun And Moon Slash[/skill][skill]Healing Signet[/skill][skill]Physical Resistance[/skill][skill]Sprint[/skill]
12 + 1 + 3 Swordsmanship
10 + 1 Tactics
8 + 1 Strength
You'll want to use a "In Stance" or "Against Physical" Insignia all through your armor. Use a "Against Piercing" shield. + 2 in stance is a nice added bonus.
Get a +7 against physical mod on your sword. With the proper insignias and shield, you do not need "Watch Yourself!"
