Yeti Smash works well where monsters mob in PvE... basically everywhere. The rest of my build is basically like that. Earth Shaker is probably the most useful PvE hammer elite, seeing as though Backbreaker and the like aren't really needed that much.
In regards to the 'Why aren't hammers used' question, its because the wammos (who represent the majority of the Warriors (and hence why people come to these forums saying 'ingame warriors tell me to use Mending and Healing Breeze)) think that swords are tehleetzorz and everything else is irrelevant. They don't care about numbers, as long as they have Monks to blame for their errors its all good to them.

I always use hammer when I PvE now. Earth Shaker is just too good.
Earth Shaker [E]
Flail
Crushing Blow
Mighty Blow
Enraging Charge
Watch Yourself!/Rending Touch/Signet of Disenchantment(Denpend on the location)
Res Signet
Sunspear Rebirth Signet
Yes, I use both signet , don't really need other utility like Bull's Charge in PvE. Get your caster up fast will make a different, especially in HM.

There's various builds I run for hammers, but it basically comes down to 2 - Forceful Blow chain, for more concentrated single-foe DPS, or Earth Shaker + other stuff, to really chew out groups.
[skill]earth shaker[/skill][skill]yeti smash[/skill][skill]crushing blow[/skill][skill]whirlwind attack[/skill] <-- If it shows up I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this yet, 'tis good for Hammer warriors...
[skill]forceful blow[/skill][skill]fierce blow[/skill][skill]heavy blow[/skill][skill]crushing blow[/skill]
If I feel like another KD, Devestating is run over Forceful. If I'm in an area where condition removal is prevalent (can't think of anywhere in PvE though ) then Mighty/Hammer Bash sub over Fierce and Heavy.
Then the rest of the bar is Flail, and whatever other odds and ends I need to support me and my heroes.
also, I've been playing around with Warrior's Endurance, too.
[skill]warrior's endurance[/skill][skill]eremite's attack[/skill][skill]mystic sweep[/skill][skill]protector's strike[/skill] for attack spammage, reduced casting times act as a pseudo-IAS. Then... [skill]hammer bash[/skill][skill]crushing blow[/skill][skill]victorious sweep[/skill] and whatever else in skill 8 - sometimes Rending Sweep, Distracting Blow or whatever.
11+1+3 Hammer, 10+1 Strength, and 10 Scythe (yup). Absolutely no utility, but it's insanely fun. Serious.

Wow I am glad I read this thread since it showed me some other skills great for a KD warrior. I'm more old fashioned though and am still using the Elite Devastating Hammer for my startup KD. Most of the times I would use assassin as my secondary for dash as a cancel stance for frenzy.
Anyway, what I normally use is:
[skill]Devastating Hammer[/skill][skill]Crushing Blow[/skill][skill]Heavy Blow[/skill][skill]Mokele Smash[/skill][skill]Frenzy[/skill][skill]Dash[/skill][skill]Healing Signet[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
If situation permits, I'd swap out [skill]resurrection signet[/skill] for [skill]Signet of Malice[/skill]
Looks pretty straightforward. I'd certainly try Forceful Blow since it needs less adrenaline compared to Devastating Hammer.
PS: Just a question though, does damage incurred on a target gets carried over into the left over hitpoints after it gets deep wound? I mean say you use Forceful Blow to KD the target and then follow up with Fierce Blow. When he gets up you use Heavy Blow and follow up with Crushing Blow. Since Crushing Blow gives deep wound, is the damage from before the condition was applied, wasted?

swords=faster attack speed looks cooler to nubs.
i'm a sword hammer guy, but now trying out axe (insane with power attack 15str lol). Hammer is great if you have yourself runed right, and for pve i have to run IAS or something like the derv skills to build adrenal quick or otherwise attack quick. So slow but so powerful lol. Yeti Smash is awesome, and with earthshaker->aftershock is fun if you equip yourself right for energy pool =].
after playing sword and hammer for so long, i have to say axe is my favorite (power attack+exe strike ftw, love that bonus dmg).

There are some good W/Mo and some bad ones out there and i have Monked with mostly good ones who knows to bring a res. and besides that who can get a group together and tell orders do.It is mostly male Warriors that I see do this like Fire Nuking Ele going up to tank a mob are male as well.
I would recommend [skill]Devastating Hammer[/skill]as an the elite of choice.

[skill]Forceful Blow[/skill][skill]Fierce Blow[/skill][skill]Heavy Blow[/skill][skill]Crushing Blow[/skill][skill]Flail[/skill][skill]Enraging Charge[/skill][skill]Dash[/skill] & a good ole res.
12 + 1 + 3 Hammer Mastery
12 + 1 Strength
[skill]Earth Shaker[/skill][skill]Crushing Blow[/skill][skill]Yeti Smash[/skill][skill]Protector's Strike[/skill][skill]Flail[/skill][skill]Enraging Charge[/skill][skill]Dash[/skill] & a res
12 + 1 + 3 Hammer Mastery
12 + 1 Strength
In both builds [skill]Dash[/skill] could be taken out for [skill]Rush[/skill]
I've never been too fond of Tactics with hammers.
Edit - I've found that warriors using hammers tend to suck less, as their bars don't vary as much (Heck, look at everyone's builds here, they seem to share the basic structure) as swords & axes. There's no place for mending on a Hammer Bar xD & also, I forgot about Whirlwind, stick it over Protector's in build two, and Fierce in build one.

tactics 8 strength 10 Hammer 12
1. Counter Blow
2. Belly Smash
3. Crushing Blow
4. Iristable Blow
5. Florish {e}
6. To the Limit!
7. Lions Comfort
8. rez
Useage: Run in and pop "To the Limit" to get Adrenaline.
Use counter Blow to knock them down.
use Belly Smash, Crushing Blow, Irresistable Blow in that order (very important!)
use Florish and start over with counter blow.
Lions Comfort
If you can get the timeing down correctly you will never run out of energy and can spam your hammer skills at all times. the dmg is devistating and theres the added bonus of an AoE blind here.

I think Devastating Hammer is the most useful as a hammer warrior in PvE. Earthshaker can be nice, but the adrenaline cost is too high. Yeti Smash I never found that useful either.
I prefer something like:
Devastating Hammer {E}
Counter Blow
Crushing Blow
Shock
Res
Flail
Enraging Charge
Fierce Blow
I find that KDs are endlessly useful for protecting squishies. I find as a hammer warrior, I can usually do more good in the backlines, protecting my casters who've never learned how to kite.

This thread has been very helpful, i recently have become very bored with axe warrior builds. After reading this thread i picked up my dusty hammer and tried some of these builds and I really enjoy knocking mobs down. It is a great feeling knowing your enemy is on their butt and cant get to you monks or casters. thanks everyone for the builds

I am really limited on the skills I have for Hammer so this one is based off of the only hammer elite I have capped. So far and I have thumping away like a mad man with it. Truly amased at the dmg you can cause with a hammer. Good fun

Painbringer,
Try using flail instead of Beserker's Stance, or at least Tiger's Stance if you don't have nightfall. Then take out some of your other skills for ones like Watch Yourself! and Fear Me! Their low adrenaline cost makes Enraging Smash charge up faster. Not to mention the skills are useful in and of themselves.

Jesh, he MUST have Nightfall - He's got Overbearing Smash
Yeah, Pain - drop Berserker Stance. It's a horrible, horrible excuse for a skill that should never be used.
Especially when we have Flail/Frenzy.

Heh. I knew that.
No really.. I just saw berserker on there and cringed. Then I noticed the lack of low cost adrenal skills.
