I think what adamezra says i correct, haven't tested, because it's very hard to test. But because the description says first deepwound then damage, i also think it's in this order. But the chance this will happen is quite small .

No, I've experienced this in PvP quite a lot. An enemy has low enough health for me to kill in one hit with an attack skill, I attack, but he/she blocks it and then gets healed either with a self-heal or by a monk.

To answer your question, it's Deep Wound and damage. However, contrary to its unconcise description, it only strikes for 16 damage not an additional 16 damage, which means your enemy needs to be really low on health before you Deep Wound for the kill, which is usually not when a Deep Wound needs to be applied.

pretty sure the dmg is applied afterwards. if a target has low health then deep wound leaves them with 1hp instead of killing them. with swift chop, they'll die after the deep wound so it seems the dmg comes afterwards.
I tried it with 0 strength and 0 axe mastery, which does only 1 dmg - same amount the target would be left with, and it worked as in the description. Get a guildie/friend/second account to roll a ranger and beat his health low then have him throw up a stance and swift chop him

I know! The deep wound drops the enemy's health to 1 and then the 16 damage does the killing! I was just wondering if it happens in this order or the other way around!
