Agreed. If still having problems then yeah you may actually have a bug(you should be hitting on average higher than 15-22 due to strength as well...). I seriously doubt it's a bug though...my warrior hits like 13-18 auto atking vs. GWEN eles, but with dragon slash i hit a lot higher...

Strength only affects attacks skills, not auto-attacks. Even then it only affects the base attack damage and not the +damage. Strength is fail.
And to the OP: I shouldn't worry as long as your have enough points in swordsmanship (Preferably 14-15 imo) and a max damage weapon you should be doing fine, the real damage will come from attack skills.

Post your build + and Hero builds you are using.
Its quite possible that a hero is casting something that prevents you from dealing any damage.
For example if you have an elementalist hero casting [iron mist] then you won't be dealing any damage vs certain targets with the sword your using.

welcome to 2008. gw has been out for 3 years and people already know how the game works. except you, apparantly.
i love it when people make fools of themselves like this. lulz ensue.
edit - here's a tl;dr of the relevant material from the link posted by desert rose:
if you meet the weapon's dmg req, your base damage is the damage indicated on the weapon. if not, your base dmg is that weapon's minimum dmg range, usually 2-3 or something. then that dmg is multiplied by the multiplier that corresponds with your weapon attribute (you can find a handy chart in the link).

wow i cannot believe i missed this. Weapon requirement merely dictates your weapon deals more than starter damage. A cap to prevent max weapons being used on low level characters.
Once you meet the cap (your weapons req) you then deal damage with regular calculations using your mastery rank.
As stated in axe mastery for example:
Quote:
Axe Mastery increases the damage you do with axes and your chance to inflict a critical hit when using an axe. Many skills, especially axe attack skills become more effective with higher Axe Mastery.
|
As shown in the bolded section your weapon mastery attribute clearly states your weapon damage is increased the higher it is. The game calculates this by setting max attribute spec of 12 as 100% and anything below as less. Things that break the max limit such as runes etc increase the damage above 100%
For those who always try to dodge this by saying the line refers to damage from your weapon via attack skills, there is a reason the following line is added seperately:
Quote:
Axe Mastery increases the damage you do with axes and your chance to inflict a critical hit when using an axe. Many skills, especially axe attack skills become more effective with higher Axe Mastery.
|
Requirements do serve a purpose, just not in the way you thought.
This is why decent warrior builds usually run 14 in weapon mastery. Optiamal damage output without having to drop your own HP.
It is also the reason a primary profession usually deals more damage with its weapon than a seconday. Exemption being assassins due to critical strikes playing a role.

Above post is full of win!
Now back on topic:
Desert mobs are like 2-3 lvls higher then the mobs you fought in kryta. Also desert mobs all seem to have high armor.
You are oftenly blocked by the enchanted i presume, the melee fighter use shield stance or whatever to block your attacks, and the ranger enchanted use throw dirt to blind you(causes miss). You hit 0 on the casters because the ele types use kinetic armor.
I also was baffled when playing warriors that my damage was so low, then i realised that spamming +damage skills/conjures gave me high dps (at last). This was also around the time i stopped being an wammo (BUT i never leeroyed).
Since you're a NF character you could go scythe warrior (W/D), i run this build now and i love it. Insane damage but a little slow.
