Dragonslash has way higher DPS than anything a spear can do.

besides usual Dslash/SY builds have Brawling headbutt which is something a paragon would find pretty much useless.
and besides if u need a constant SY/TNTF your probably doing something wrong(this excludes elite areas)

Default W/P and P/W are both great

as a paragon... the infamous 'imbagon' build works well.
as a warrior... dslash/headbutt/steelfang/SY is nice.

try this for the best of both worlds and perma-daze.

[build prof=W/P name="Stunning Strike" strength=12+1+1 spear=12][barbed spear][merciless spear][stunning strike][spear of fury][save yourselves][flail][for great justice][sunspear rebirth signet][/build]

You lose knockdown capability but you gain ranged Daze that you can use frequently. Use FGJ-->Barbed Spear-->Spear of Fury to charge SY in three hits. Of course it helps if you have high kurz/luxon rank, mine is almost maxed so SY is at 6 seconds and Spear of Fury is at +38/+5adr. After some conditions have been applied you can charge SY in *one hit* if FGJ is up... Spear of Fury will give +12 adrenaline, or +14 at max rank. O_o

One of the big advantages of the spear is that you can attack immediately and you ignore crippling, snaring, and kiting used to defend against the melee professions. The spear also keeps you in the middle of your group where your defensive shouts can have the greatest benefit.

IMO SY is a more paragon friendly skill than it is a warrior skill. When i pug or play H/H as a warrior the party always seem slightly out of my shout range thus SY spam does not yield it potential benefit. Not unless u decide to use the trusty "flag team button" in the mids of spamming your attack skills. By then most of the mob should have been neutralised.

When a mid liner like a paragon uses SY the whole party gets the coverage.

Higher Damage yes, but in a fight with multiple foes... Paragons don't have to run after targets when the switch, they just change targets and fire away... They score more hits in a battle with a mob that warriors do... hence higher DPS damage per second over the duration of the fight...

1) Swords and Axes have a faster raw attack speed, not to mention that [[Flail] is 33% IAS compared to 25% for [[Aggressive Refrain]. Putting aside other factors, Wars get an advantage just from more hits.
2) Spears aren't DSlashing on every hit.
3) If you're in a decently packed mob then it won't take you much time to get to a new target anyway (even with Flail). Midline can remove blocking from enemies and hexes/conditions from you.

meh, 6 of the one, half a dozen of the other... I've seen facts posted on raw damage, anyway, it matters not... Everyone know's this game better than everyone else so... at the end of the day, it's personaly preference... I play both war and para, and I don't find any DPS suffering with my para over my war... sure, raw damage war>para, but dps is meh...

Comparing DPS between P and W is difficult because of certain factors including:

1. Flail>Agg R in IAS but slows movement
2. Distance between monsters
3. Hero bars
4. The hexes/conditions faced
5. What the player is better at playing

Next, we forget that it doesn't matter whether or not does DPS of W or P is greater - what matters is what kills the mob faster. This adds in whether or not the henches or other players play a role.

So lets assume that W's D Slash > Imbagon's DPS out put. If a Imbagon can keep SY and TntF better than a D Slash, that means less healing needed from heroes. This results in more Discord spam/attacks/offensive spells from the heroes. But what if the monsters are so close together that W's D Slash can match Imbagon's SY spam? What if blurred vision/giant stomp/blindness ect. screws over that one vital D Slash?

So bottom line: It doesn't matter wtf you run. Imbagon and D Slash spammer both make PvE their b*tch and you should spend more time playing GW instead of making up "if...then..." scenarios that can't be quantified into a general statement. If the DPS b/w a W or P is remotely different or quantifiable, it would be common knowledge by now.

the other thing you have to add for warrior dps would be this little thing called strength. im fairly sure it ends up bein x1.23 dmg w/ 14 ap on 0 ar targets.

Who what when did you ever fight an armor rating 0 target? Anyway no matter when you did that, remember that strength doesn't add to the base damage of your normal attacks, and not even to the full damage from attack skills, but only to the base damage from your attack skill attacks. Meaning that outside of spikes, unless you spam attack skills, strength doesn't have such a big effect. But of course it helps.
