I used to use Endure Pain to pick up loot, but then I quit messing with the Broodmother altogether. It's much better to bring Enraging Charge in the slot that used to be occupied by EP and have an IMS boost 100% of the time before taking 3 seconds to unleash 9000+ DPS and instagib all the little lizards. It cuts your run time down by a few seconds, and those seconds add up into extra runs, which add up into extra profit.

I use glad defense for the HM raptor farm.. kill everything except the boss group.. coupled with sliver armor and that vanguard tottem thing that makes your attaks strogner... =)

At least that's what happened to me the last time I used EP in a run quite some time back. I only used it to get away from the last group of foes before the zone point, I lost aggro with less than 50 life remaining and that's when EP expired, so my total life was well below 0, at that point I was already home free but for some reason I decided to use Healing Signet, that killed me instantly after casting.

Yes, this still happens, and it works like that for any skill that increases your max health and then expires. Any damage, or healing below the amount needed to recover above zero, will kill you.
@Tyrael: You can use Defy Pain to farm Raptors in Hard mode with Sand Shards. It's almost as fast as Hundred Blades, but it's slightly more difficult. It works nearly the same as HB, but it relies on the Raptor's Critical Defenses to block Whirlwind, which triggers a Sand Shard bomb.

Yes, I miss those days too.

Sadly, right after I bought my Knight's boots to go with my Drok's Glad's Armor (for the 1-piece, universal -2 reduc), I might have had it for a couple of months, they nerfed it. But I still have the armor - Drok's Glad's Chest/Gloves/Legs and Knight's Boots, all dyed old-school Black. Raptor Nestlings and Smite Crawlers fear that armor, for it spells their doom.

Gotcha. I don't use the Sand Shard build for my Warrior, but I knew that it was capable of farming the Nestlings with it as both D/ and W/ primaries. Just forgot that the W/ primary uses Defy Pain in the Elite slot.

30 second recharge makes it crap - can't be maintained - you're better off with healing signet or lion' comfort, those are actually reliable

EP can make a fairly decent skill at getting out of sticky situations every now and then, but the real problem with the skill is this: The time it's up, and the recharge time. If it was a fairly active skill with a short time being up on you, then it could see a bit more use in the self-defense area while not being a skill that has very little use. The second thing is that there are much better things you can take, and I for one would desire offense over defense on a Warrior, discounting that some of these offensive skills can be used defensively in some ways and we already have access to a couple of powerful skills.

My guildmate was a raptor-farming fanatic, and her best build was:
W/E, 12 earth magic, 9 strength, 9 tactics
signet of stamina
mental block
to the limit!
defy pain
wary stance
sliver armor
intensity
air of superiority
She always used to clear them all in seconds (in HM). Of course, perfecting the walk-around is a major key.

o_o how can you kill all of them with sliver in just a few seconds?
HB HAS to be faster than sliver, or shes hacking.

She's not hacking--I've watched her several times. It took her a while to get the pattern down, but now she can do it in her sleep. I can't do it myself.
With air of superiority, you can figure she gets about three recharges on sliver armor. And when I said "in seconds," I meant like ca. 50 seconds, not like 3 seconds.

Endure Pain is like drugs, its awesome at first and you feel like your on top of the world, but once it ends, your a great target for a spike.
The only reason someone would use endure pain is for when they are getting spiked, but I dont know much spikes that can kill a 80+ armored warrior, that can not be healed.

Personally I find Endure pain useful when going farming with ONE other person. Not as good as preventing damage or doing it as a sin . But it always leaves with you at least 1 health so it has its uses.
