Looking for some "off the map" Sword Builds
Lately I've been using a lot of Axe/Hammer Builds and I wanted to get back to using swords, I'm looking for some builds that have mostly single target abilities and since swords are generally Bleeding/Crip./Little DW, Degens fine but ill take any.
Just bored and wanted to mess around with the sword again all in all ping what you want and ill try them out good or bad idc I love tweaking builds to make them work
[]Edit[] I do Have all the main stream sword builds so don't bother as the post says im looking for the strange/not commonly use ones.

My original build from 5 years ago (spec stats as you see appropriate):
Sever Artery
Gash
Sun and Moon Slash
Final Thrust
Auspicious Parry
Healing Signet
Healing Breeze
Ressurect Signet
Equipment:
any max sword
max tactics shield with +30 and -5/20%
As bad as it looks, it works pretty well in PvE for single target attacking. I even took it to PvP a few times and didn't have too much trouble.

Here's one I developed just for the heck of using a sword:
http://www.gwpvx.com/Special:PvXDeco...nviar+consulta
It has some pretty decent damage on single target ( around 100-120/sec). It's very suitable for hard modes because the pet is another target for the enemies that's not a monk plus it provides some significant dps increase. Combining NRA with Burst buffs up your attack speed to the 45% cap ( I don't think that they've removed it) that, combined with "I am the strongest!" provides burst damage and very quick energy regain.
Strenght Helm with mayor Strength Rune.
Hope you like it, let me know your opinion

W/R Strike as one -> gash
I forget the rest, its a pretty standard bar otherwise. Its an alright gimmick. It works well; its just not the best nor is it the most efficient.

Back when Quivering Blade gave self-daze I used it with Plague touch (4 adrenaline daze). Now it's not so great for PVE.
For single target you basically need Body Blow, Standing Slash, Galrath Slash/Silverwing Slash.
11+1+1=13 Sword
12+1= 13 strength
6+1= 7 tactics
1 Enraging Charge = +3 adrenaline
2 Quivering Blade (4 adrenaline cost)
3 Body Blow (7 adrenaline cost) - use with cracked armor in the team, of course (can also run Savage Slash or Disarm since you want to spam Quivering Blade/Standing Slash)
4 Standing Slash (6 adrenaline cost)
5 To the Limit = +3 adrenaline
6 Lion's comfort (4 adrenaline cost, also gains +2 adrenaline ...+1 if you count the 1 second not attacking)
7 Flail (4 adrenaline cost)
8 Sunspear Rebirth Signet
I think you can fit in 3 PVE skills but it's hard to fit SY! on a bar with such high adrenaline use without Dragonslash or Whirlwind attack.
12+1+1=14 Sword
12+1= 13 strength
1 Enraging Charge = +3 adrenaline
2 Quivering Blade (4 adrenaline cost)
3 Brawling Headbutt (7 adrenaline cost) / "I Am the Strongest!"
4 Standing Slash (6 adrenaline cost)
5 Asuran Scan
6 Lion's comfort (4 adrenaline cost, also gains +2 net adrenaline ...+1 if you count the 1 second not attacking)
7 Flail
8 Sunspear Rebirth Signet

If you can function without a stance, barbarous slash hurts like hell. Easier to do in pve with NRA, and such.
I've been using various tactics and strength skills with a sword while "surviving" a new warrior(didnt have all the skills unlocked like on my other guys, also, free turai's sword is badass). With defy pain you're basically invincible in normal mode pve while the heroes get better, and you have too the limit to charge it at will.
Auspicious parry is pretty sweet if you move you're IAS off your stance slot(use either iway, NRA or another). Now that it activates when you cancel it with itself you get crazy adrenaline. Pretty neat to fuel the bigger sword booms. Same deal with Bulls charge, charging strike and battle rage. If you can figure out the energy problem you can chain charging strike or magehunter's strike with power attack for constant +30 on your attacks. Bring knee cutter, a paragon hero with crip anthem and energy stuff, or some sort of battery.
Also I'm liking soldier's stance or in pve on the aforementioned survivor. I haven't got all the pve sill junk and early on it was pretty useful. With that, too the limit, thrill of victory and the standard sever gash, backed up by a smiter, you get decent damage and pump tons of adrenaline.
Used to be swords had crappy elites so you took the useful elites from other atts when you used them, like charge, bull charge, skull crack ect(every axe bar had evis and all the hammers were dev earthshaker or BB). Then they got dragon slash, the new HB and a ton of synergistic pve skills and then they were awesome in their own right. Use that old logic, pretend HB and D-slash don't exist and come up with a bar.
Lately I've been having fun in RA with Headbutt+plauge touch, You're All Alone, Shove, and Rage of the Ntouka.
If you can get 14 strength(take a major str with minor+headgear for the weapon, oir since it's **** it it's pve a sup rune, 12-12 att split since pure warriors are cool) with rage of ntouka you can insta charge a whole combo, Do what I like to call a "Triple Tap". You use it at the start of the fight to get juiced, unload on one guy, the monk blows it prots and heals, then recharge naturally(sometimes i have enraging charge, TTL! or lions comfort to aid this), unload on sucker #2 then you tooka and tap sucker #3 right away. It works well in pve too, you can charge SY! with tooka+1 hit. The 5 second blackout isn't really much of an issue if you can pull off the first few salvos, and if you get kills with the triple tap, and it should really only be an issue once per use. Figure you blow your skills as soon as you tooka, the combo takes like 3 secs to go out, is dark for that time plus 5 secs, then takes another 3-5 secs to recharge with regular attack hits, by then you're glowing again, ready to unload, and the tooka after effect is running out and when tooka's recharged you should be in a position to triple tap and kill again.

12+1+1 Swordsmanship
12+1 Strength
A sword and shield are required (duhhh....). A stonefist insignia is also required to make SFS and BH work.
Dragon Slash
Steelfang Slash
Enraging Charge / Rush
Flail / Frenzy
Brawling Headbutt
Sun + Moon Slash
SY! -optional though
For Great Justice!
Standard Dragon Slash build but allows continual use of Dragon Slash even during FGJ! downtime by spamming DS - Headbutt - Steelfang, assuming you are in an IAS, and the target can be knocked down.
Sun and Moon Slash is on the bar for adrenal gain assuming something goes wrong with the skill spamming (any melee counter will mess this up), furthermore if you attack something that dies before your Steelfang or Dragon Slash lands, it will set you back since the attack does not land, but the adrenaline will still be wasted.
Frenzy / Rush is there if you have a decent backline (PS and stuff ). Since Flail opens up kiting issues.
If you want you can remove FGJ! and replace it with A-scan if you feel confident you can keep the cycle running.

My build is... a bit unusual, but it works well enough for me. I just call it the Swordsman, although it's a W/R build.
Equipment:- Murakai's Blade
- Tarnen's Shield
- +1 Strength Helm
- Radiant (Chest Piece) of Superior Vigor
Skills:- Comfort Animal (with Level 20 pet)
- Deadly Riposte
- Endure Pain
- Warrior's Endurance
- Griffon's Sweep
- Pure Strike
- Seeking Blade
- (utility skill slot)Light of Deldrimor/Power Attack/Sprint/Savage Slash/Etc.
Stats:- Strength: 10 (+1)
- Swordsmanship: 11
- Tactics: 8
The general idea is to use only 5-energy attacks that have are unblockable or that cause the enemy to suffer if they block. Light of Deldrimor can help if you get swarmed (and can result in over a thousand DPS in larger clusters). The pet's sole purpose is to help you tank.
I generally hit the numbers as 4,3,2,5,6,7. This allows me to start dealing damage and gaining energy back (4 energy gained per hit once Warrior's Endurance is active). Deadly Riposte makes you hit back and gain energy for it. Endure pain brings your HP from 590 to 834 and can be used as a last-minute self-heal.

I see no IAS in THE build posted above. Just for THE record: 33% increased attack speed results in 50% more damage. So if u dont take an ias u Will practically lose 50% damage.
My own 'strange' build:
1 asuran scan
2 flail
3 standing slash
4 brawling headbutt
5 steelfang slash
6 magehunter strike
7 rush
8 FGJ

Here's one that I've been using for a long while.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzS6MNQjlQU
The vid is just a controlled demonstration, but out on the field, the build can be quite reliable with the right team.
12 Tacs with +2 rune on helmet so it would be 15 Tacs.
12 sword with another +2 rune.
3 Strength just to spend the left overs.
Helmet: Tac rune, Survivor insig.
Chest: Vitae rune, Sentry insig.
Gloves: Swords rune, Stonefist insig.
Leggings: Superior Absorption rune, Sentry insig.
Feet: Superior Vigor rune, Sentry insig.
Sword: Double Adrenaline gain (10% chance) hilt, +15% dmg (while in stance) inscrip, and +5 armor pommel.
Tactics Shield: +45 HP (while in stance) handle, and -2 dmg (while in stance) inscrip.
The vid description goes through the nature of the build while the vid demonstrates it. Note that you'll need some focus to pull it off quickly. It is a well made offensive/defensive build that locks down target while at the same time protects your team. Should be pleasing so give it a go. Any questions, just ask.

W/D with a sword instead of a scythe...it's not very good but it's off the wall.
12+1+1 Swordsmanship
11 Wind prayers
6+1 Tactics
Rest in Strength
Onslaught [Elite] (use 20% enchanting when casting it for 100% upkeep)
"To the Limit!" (strength isn't high enough at 7 to use Enraging charge anyhow.)
Barbarous Slice
Gash
Galrath Slash
Asuran Scan
Brawling Headbutt
Steelfang Slash
... Pure Strike was considered but it doesn't have the pure damage of Galrath Slash.
Alternative is to swap out Brawling Headbutt--> Steelfang Slash for "I am the strongest!" + "For Great Justice!"/Savage Slash
Usually run Body Blow with high Strength, but if you want to drop Strength this is a way to do so (no flail, Enraging charge, power attack, etc). If it wasn't so adrenaline heavy you could run "Save Yourselves"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jan 6, 2011:
The above is bad when Drunken Master exists. So nevermind on that one. Drunken master is a stance though.
