Yes, ritualists can heal. Everyone knows that. The problem is, ritualists can't active prot, and spirits aren't great. That is why ritualists will never replace monks as primary healers.

One weapon spell, I'm not convinced Rits > Monks.
Any decent ranger will interrupt Warding anyways.

With some of the new skill updates they are beginning to be able to. I mean with Xinraes weapons. Decent preprot, yes only last one hit BUt that hit tells you he is being targeted and you can be ready to infus ewith spirit transer from life with heals for 400+ health. Then WoW replaced guardian hands down with block. All we are missing is a Weapon spell equal to SoA and Spirit bond and we are good.

Even if Aegis is up half the time it is still plenty effective.
I'd much rather have a ranger dshot guardian than something like WoH/RC/etc...

HOLYQUINTUPLEPOSTBATMAN!!!!!
and btw, WoW is the only decent prot on a rit, and it all boils down to an expensive guardian with mending effect for 8 seconds. it can't be stripped, but it can't stack with other weapon spells either.
the only role of a rit these days is that of the aggressive-defender role. it can help a monk backline shore up defensively, and can offensively attack with channeling. a two rit backline will explode in a matter of seconds against any significant pressure.

Don't forget that WoW has 2x the recharge and 2x the energy of guardian. And while you can't remove weapon spells, you can only have one, enchants can stack (which, imo, makes them better). Also, most Rt skills are very dependent on spirits, and most Rt healing builds wouldn't have more than 1 or 2 spirits, D-Shot hurts you a lot more than a Monk.

HA team needs to adapt to different situtions, so that doesn't explain much in a strict pvp match( no capping, king of the hill etc.). So I think if you change it to a GvG team build that would explain more.
But rits CAN heal, when only focusing on one or two(two max, imo anyways) players.

Lets just go with the Divine Favor equaling 30hp.. and normally its higher.
[SKILL]Spirit Light[/SKILL]
[SKILL]Patient Spirit[/SKILL] +30 = 156 (Just lower than SL, but if there are no spirits around Patient Spirit wins)
[SKILL]Spirit Transfer[/SKILL]
[SKILL]Infuse Health[/SKILL] +30= X
[SKILL]Soothing Memories[/SKILL]
[SKILL]Ethereal Light[/SKILL] +30= 135 (Higher Healing)
[SKILL]Mend Body and Soul[/SKILL]
[SKILL]Patient Spirit[/SKILL] +30= 156 (Higher Healing)
[SKILL]Weapon of Remedy[/SKILL]
[SKILL]Restore Condition[/SKILL] +30= 114 (1 condition, same as WoR) (Higher Healing)
[SKILL]Vengeful Weapon[/SKILL]
[SKILL]Reversal of Fortune[/SKILL] +30= 114 (Higher Healing)
[SKILL]Protective was Kaolai[/SKILL]
[SKILL]Heal Party[/SKILL] (Little lower, but you see this mostly with HB)
Don't forget [SKILL]Word of Healing[/SKILL] which pretty much tops off as the single greatest heal in the game save Spirit Transfer and Infuse.
Yes Rits are just sub par when it comes to raw healing capabilities, but without that prot line, monk will win hands down. Like people have said before, Rit really shines when it uses all of its flexibility.
When it comes to healing the Monk.. which was made to heal, wins. When it comes to being able to do some healing, some dmg, buff other players, and conjure spirits from the Mists then the Rit wins.
If we were saying which was the better class it would be Rit>Mo. Because the Rit can do so much more than a monk can do. Monks mainly heal and prot, every now and again you'll get a smiter, but even then the dmg isn't all that great.
So you don't win the healing/prot battle, but you win pretty much everything else.

Rits can heal but they can't prot effectively. In PvE it doesn't matter but they have access to channeling, which offers more than a healing rit over a monk

In PvE Rits can replace monks as backliners, sure (most of the time anyway).
In arenas like AB or RA Rits can do fine as pure resto. But those arenas are bad indicators and monks just have better protective spells.

My current favourite RA farming builds are a generic Enraged Lunge beastmaster (ranger obviously), and a Restoration/Channeling build I wrote (the user page I store it on isn't working right now). I've noticed that if there was a guaranteed way of having a spirit up all the time, it would be insanely effective; however the spirit is what causes all the difficulty; if it dies... not very happy.

I'd like to see Spawning Power turned into a spellcasting version of Expertise so we can abuse the **** out of other caster spell lines for a change.
Or made to give +1 pip of e-regen for every 3 Spawning Power.
Something like that.

Ok this was biased and unfair. Patient Spirit is 1 1/4 second delay heal and its enchant so its possible it can be stripped, hard but possible. Whereareas spirit light is a straight heal for 174 heals at 14 resto.
Ethereal Light is easy interuptable so if your getting trained you cant use it. GG and QQ for you.
Mend Body and Soul also removes condition. Patients spirit is 1 1/4 second delay heal.
RC wins over everyone in rit bar ill say that. Pure was li ming is better for support but no healing involed there so QQ for rit.
Vengeful also steals health, so does pressure while healing even if it is for less. Xinraes weapons would be better because it is a prot now as well.
PWK wins over Heal party no matter what you do. PWK is a great skill, and added with life its a power party buff.
Monks are a great class with Prot, but like i said rits can heal better. With one att they can remove conditons while healing, steal health, and massive party heal.

Before I get started, let me point out one of my favorite things about rits - BINDING RITUALS. These are not spells. They are not reduced with Fast Casting, Mindbender, etc. - unless we're talking about [Anguished Was Lingwah], and I highly doubt we were from the comment.
Anyway - anything that can really be said has been said. Nobody doubts the power of Restoration Magic - it's why N/Rt healers are so dominant in PvE, even finding its way into Sabway. Rits have stronger heals with a few exceptions, like [Word of Healing]. Problem is, prots > heals. I'd quote the bit from Divine's monk guide in here but I really don't feel like going to get it.
If rits get active prots instead of crap like [Shelter], then maybe they'll be favored for healing duties. As is though, a monk that can heal and active prot takes priority in my book.
