Skill updates
Finally we have a skill update which is useful.
Sum it up:
[Destructive Was Glaive]Concise: (30...54 seconds.) Your Ritualist skills have 10% armor penetration. Drop effect: deals 10...82 lightning damage to all foes in the area.
[Clamor of souls]Concise: Deals 10...54 lightning damage to target and nearby foes. You gain 10 Energy if you are within earshot of a spirit or holding a bundle item.
pve only
[signet of spirits]Concise: All spirits within earshot gain 50...170 Health.
[Signet of ghostly might]Concise: (5...17 seconds.) All spirits you control within earshot attack 33% faster and deal +5...9 damage.
I like the update on [Clamor of souls] the most. Now people will actually have a reason to use it. It's actually a slower but more powerful and flexible version of[Caretaker's Charge].
Also something which was discussed often on forums was [Destructive Was Glaive] I alway liked the whole idea behind the skill, just like many other players. The problem was that it just wasn't easy to use. 10e every 10 sec was to much. This makes up a lot.
I don't think [signet of spirits](pve) will be used a lot now....The spirit's which need health the most are protection spirits which are all communing.
And last I don't know yet what to think of [Signet of ghostly might] the idea sound good, the question is: Is it useful, and worth the elite sloth? It can be kept up with ease. it's only useful when you use 3-4 spirit's.
What are your idea's on these updates?

I like the changes overall, but the rit as a whole needs more work I think
the increased duration on Glaive is good it's really what the skill always needed.
Clamor looks rather nice now, targeted AoE sounds pretty good to me.
SoS, idk it's a nice change I guess, what with it being completely overshadowed by OoS these days. But it still needs a buff to spirits (specifically defensive spirits) to be effective. As it stands most of the spirits that sac sac too fast and otherwise spirits are just too fragile as they'll likely be dead before you can use the signet if they come under fire anyways.
SoGM looks neat, a nice way to up the damage output of offensive spirit spamming...could be useful but spirit spamming is still a bit too clunky anyways.

I always end up being the party-pooper when it comes to these threads, but ...
They are elites.
Meaning they are competing with AP.
And unless the skills obtain an effect similar to AP - unlimited energy + skill recharge - they aren't worth it.
Ohh and 60 free AoE lightning damage? In PvE?
I'd stick to Essence Strike. At least you get some extra energy out of that.
If I used either.

Clamor got a nice buff, it makes it more viable in ab/fa/jq now. Upier, they are elite, but their rit elites first and compared to the old versions it makes the rit more viable, which we needed. Still dont see a change to Spawning which does need a change.

As I posted in another thread I was wondering whether spirits still die after 10 second when [Signet of Ghostly Might] has been cast on them?
anyone got a chance to try?

i think the update was fairly good, compared to what it was, and silicon i think the spirits are still destroyed at pre determined time.

[Essence Strike] does not work with an item,[clamor of souls] does.

I use a spirit spam build quite often and I never use AP. Simply because it never fits in. I alrdy tried fitting in [Signet of Ghostly Might] and it works better.

I don't think any of the changes will cause me to play any different.
DwG: I don't know about this one, of course it's much easier to use now which is nice if you actually use it. But does 10% armor penetration make THAT much difference?
CoS is lightning damage, which is not really that great. Don't get me wrong, it's better than the pre-update CoS. But still..
SoS is still just useless. It's in the channeling line and the health sacrificing spirits are in communing. But even if it was in communing it would still make the use of those spirits very difficult. Using SoS means no [[ritual lord] or [[assassins promise] which means that you're dealing with the extreme long recharges. Besides SoS would be useful for maybe prolonging their death by a few seconds. The problem is with spirits' armor and health, SoS is not really the thing to tackle that. A much needed change to Spawning Power could.
SoGM is cute I guess. Sure, offensive spirits do more damage and attack faster now. But you still have to deal with the inexplainable pauses, uncoördinated attacks, etc.

AP doesn't help splinter really, and it's pointless on summon spirit turret. Not sure what other useful things your rit is doing besides Discord calling.

that's nice, now we got an elite ancestor.
I'm sarcastic btw, another useless update that failed to address the real issue.

does [signet of ghostly might] affect all summoned creatures, or just spirits
(it used to affect all summoned creatures, but i wonder if they fixed that in this update)

SoGM looks like it could be a good elite for an any/Rt Norn Fighting Tournament build. I plan to cap it and give it a try. Most foes go down in seconds with the build I'm using now, but having an extra edge for Magni seems like a good idea.

Yes, and you actually gain energy from Essence, and you do not from CoS.
So you're left with damage that is going to be reduced to ... what .. half?
It's only your elite slot, right?

Of course it would.
Still doesn't change the fact that spirits are still going to be sub-par to just spamming PvE skills.

It gives you energy for Splinter and it recharges your skills. Which means it pretty much beats OoS.
Because you can run 3 PvE skills - you probably won't be running around as a resto/channeler since you won't have the slots.
So what channeling elite is going to pummel AP into the ground?
Great, they made certain skills less crappy.
They still aren't good enough to use.
They need to start looking at what are the best options around and either kill of those options to make the crappy ones more viable - or buff the crappy ones to the overpowered status of the best ones.
Otherwise skill balancing might as well be a new discipline at the Special Olympics where everyone is a winner!

The ugly rit is right. Btw pm ingame name.
Tested clamour in Jade quarry, at 14 channeling it deals 30 dmg to lvl 20 luxon archers (so I'd say in hm it will deal 30dmg against lvl 26 squishies)

The description says spirit's only. It would give nice variants if you can cast it on minions to.

They live in PVE but not in PVP I found out.
Gee would it have been fun defending a shrine in AB or FA gate if it also applied to PVP

True, because the change to [[signet of ghostly might] was PvE-only as you know now. DwG and CoS were both PvP and PvE.

The Rits stole a Necro Elite, and it's name is Aura of the Lich. Vizunah Square had never seen so many simultaneous explosions. I might consider tweaking my Sabway to run multiple copies of Nova now.

Do heroes actually run AotL that well to replace JB with it? We all know you could practically go afk with sabway while your team takes care of it all but do they actually use AotL when it's the most effective or just simply on recharge?

Nah, the AI for AotL is pretty horrible. The Heroes usually cast it right on recharge, with no consideration for nearness of corpses, or availability of exploited corpses, especially since they all tend to stay near you, they are all pretty much within earshot of each other.
