What is the best secondary for a Ritualist?
Hello, I have never played as a ritualist before, and I was wondering what the best secondary is.

A semi-decent to good build can be worked out with every other profession aside from Warrior and Paragon (at least that I know of) - depending on the situation.
Monk and Necromancer are the common beginner secondary choices for PvE.
Monk if going support, Necromancer for more damage. Although really, you can have a pretty good overall build with no secondary.

The choice of class as a secondary depends totally on your palying style. Spirit spammers need no secondary. Midline weapon spell support could use the curses of a mesmer or necro to supplement damage. Personally, I play paragon secondary using a spear and spirits strength most of the time.

Back when I played my rit--ages ago--I had monk secondary but never used it. I just ran either a Comm/Chan/Spawn spirit build or a Resto/Spawn healer. When it comes to player, pick necro or monk, but you don't have to use it. For heroes, I'd do /N.

You can change your secondary later so it totally doesn't matter.
There are awesome builds for Rt/R, Rt/P, Rt/Me and Rt/N.

Rt/R is fantastic. I'd look into Rt/Me and Rt/N as well.

For the Damage, go with Splinter Wep and Volley (Zealous Bow is helpful)
But if you want to run support or Spirit Spammer, try running with Monk or Mes Secondary.
There is, if you want to combine the best of both worlds, Rt/R Spammer with Serpents quickess and Spirits.

My Rit is either /Mo for 330 farming or /D for SS Scythe
Otherwise I say as a chanelling/resto hybrid which almost uses secondary skills

For PvP if your casting (heal or offensive) /A for dash or dark escape or /W for stances. (Talking about AB Ra and TA here)
If you are running SS /W will dish out the most damage.
Don't play rit in PvE so I can't help you there

Asking what secondary profession is an extremely lazy way of not having to do your homework on a class (it is NOT difficult), not to mention that you are extremely vague. What the hell do you mean by "Best?"
Please go around and search for the tons of builds here in Guru. The search option is very useful. PvX wiki is a good place to get an idea of what to use.
And not to waste your time:
Assassin's promise
/Mo for hex/condition removal
/r OR /p for damage

This exactly. Basically every profession has been suggested as a viable secondary. So please read through the ritualist forums, there is a wealth of information available.
