ugh a bug... Hit a wall need help :P
so, i decided to finally make the ritualist that ive wanted to make for a long long time now, i love him but i have seemed to hit a wall...
everything was dandy and fun and no problems, than i get to the market place and WHAM!!! like being hit with a big stick...
i was running a channeling build in some parts as well as a communing / spirit build in other parts before getting to the mainland area, i have all the skills from the island area, but nothing seems to work with the mainland, if i run my channeling build, 120 damage lightning attacks deal 40-60, and communing, my spirits dont deal nearly enough of a punch...
im hoping this is all making sense, i may be rambling a bit, but i was wondering if anyone had any hints / skill sets that would be good for the mainland areas, or is it as simple as sticking to it and working my way to the later parts of the mainland (and therefore more powerful skills)...
My build right now
(attributed i dont know off by heart something like 12 communing / 8 channeling, healing done by the monk)
skills (dont know how to do the icon thing :P )
Slot 1: union
Slot 2: pain
Slot 3: blood song (my heal)
Slot 4: blind (spirit)
slot 5: disrupting (spirit)
slot 6: dont remember name (skill that gives 10 damage reduction while casting spirits)
slot 7: Painfull bond (the channeling skill that does +20 damage when spirit attacks)
slot 8: Hard res
Hopefully i made sense and someone can shed some light on my troubles
Thanks

what kinda secondary profession did you chose?
btw [spirit rift]+[splinter weapon] work pretty good, just cast splinter on a ranger or warrior. [ancestors rage] is also good ,just wait until they get close to you and hit them.
edit:[weapon of warding] on yourself is good

make sure you have a good armor level, and your build is badsauce. the only spirits i'd consider bringing in pve is destruction/life maybe recovery

First I'd say everything is beating the crap out of you is because of your armor. They don't tell you but, the armor you have when you leave Noob Island isn't max and enemies will hurt alot until you get max armor. max armor can be obtained at Kaieng City which is a short run north of the market place.

The armor thing is probably working in reverse on you as well, in that your enemies are probably of higher levels and thus have more armor. That's the simple reason for why your attacks aren't dealing nearly as much.

If you are determined to play a Spirits heavy build, you do have options. More of course if you have Nightfall as well as Factions.
Try the following:
[pain][bloodsong][vampirism][no skill][painful bond][summon spirits][no skill][no skill]
For the optionals, the last one should be some form of Resurrection spell. Otherwise, bringing [[Wanderlust] and [[Earthbind] is great for areas with annoying bosses, or bring either [[Anguish]/[[Shadowsong] with [[Signet of Ghostly Might (pve)]. [[Summon Spirits] is a must for running any Spirit-heavy build, but until you get either of the elites (or tome them) stick in [[Splinter Weapon (pve)] or [[Ancestor's Rage (pve)]. Alternatively, bring an EoTN PvE skill such as [[You Move Like a Dwarf], [[Finish Him], or [[Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support]. You'll be very effective versus smaller groups and bosses (except high level Kappa with Turtle Shell) and this build will continue to work for any campaign.

Just a note here, [Bloodsong] heals itself not you. If you want a spirit to heal you, you'd want [life] or [vampirism].
If you want a spirit heavy build, definitely follow Ariena Najea's advice. I personally enjoy running [Signet of Ghostly Might (PvE)] as my elite.
Also to show skills like this: [life] just type the skill name surrounded by brackets, eg: [skill name here]

For the skill icon thing, you do this.
[skillname] = [mending]
[[email protected]] = [[email protected]]
[[skillname] = [[mending]
[[[email protected]] = [[[email protected]]
If you need help on your ritualist, pm Zodiac Ele (No always on it) and I can help you out with hard missions and explaining the ritualist class and whats good for it etc.
All the previous suggestions are great. (Re-sticky the in game helper forum please )
Hmm, the skills seem to be broken right now...

if you're in the market place you should run up to Kaineng Center and get some max AL armor. and also get some more skills from the skill trainer there. btw, talk to your guild leader about your alliance rank(Kurzick/Luxon).

yeah u can get kurzick or luxon ranks without a guild but you will have to play through the factions campaign first until the Jade Sea and the Echovalid Forest where you will gain faction for quests and can get bounties etc.
search on wiki for Kurzick or Luxon Rank for more information

The sad fact is that, though spirit wrangler builds are really great and can deal considerable damage, they are much more effective if you can use some skills you don't seem to have at the moment. (like [summon spirits], [vampirism], [signet of ghostly might])
So after getting to Kaineng Center and buying a max AL armor, it may be better to play a support role. Or run a chanelling/resto hybrid build.

Well, let me start off by saying that there aren’t many “secret” combos in the game anymore. Most of them have been “fixed”. What the person was trying to tell you is they are both good skills in the channeling line. They don’t “work” together in any fashion. I have seen a couple new ppl in the forums lately totally frustrated by the simple fact they can’t read. Imo one of the founding premises of GW skill creation was to encourage the use of skills that do “work” together. For example, using the skill [Essence Strike] in the presence of a [Bloodsong] spirit. I highly encourage you to look for and use skill combinations that build on one another.
One other tip I have for you is that the Ritualist class ihmo is best suited for dual purposes in most groups. They tend to excel at providing both team damage augmentation and support. And in the current state of the game that usually means splitting up your skills and attribute points between channeling and restoration.
I hope this helps you Flounder.

first, make sure you are ascended/weh no su
then go to the great temple of balthazar and talk to the kurzick or luxon ambassador or something like that...(maybe starts with a B? idk) He can bring you to jade quarry, once you have 3,000 kurzick/luxon faction, talk to the faction rewards person and get the kurzick/luxon skill [summon spirits]
to get vampirism, you need to get through the starting island of nigthfall (basically), then once you have high enough sunspear rank, you can talk to the hero skills trainer and he can give you sunspear skills.

Also of note for those skills to get better (Kurzick/luxxon/Sunspear) you must farm the points for the title rank which acts as the "attribute" for that skill.
Vampirism: You need to do Sunspear point Hunts in NF from the Shrine Guards changing to HM at rank 8. There are also a number of quest in the area that give points to the title.
Summon Spirits: Alliance Battles, Jade Quary, Aspen wood, or the challange mission for whoever you chose to ally with. There are also a number of quest in both areas that give points for faction points. Though you still have to turn the faction into the rewards guy and he translates into title points. The trade 5k faction is the most efficient as you get a bonus 5k when you use that option added to title.
This weekend would be a good time to get to Jade Qquarry or Aspenwood battle areas as they will have double faction earning this weekened.
If you need/want a guest sponsorship to a guild to earn points hit me up IGN: Angil Ath Aririd. I'll set you up as a guest for Kurzick Faction. It's also easier and quicker to choose one side and stay with it.
