Ritual Lord Viable?
Hey all,
I've been trying to get my RL build to work for awhile now. It crushed everything in normal mode, but the rubber meets the road in HM and it got spanked.
I'm trying to resist going to the cookie cutter SoS, Armor of unfeeling, spam spam bored route...so take a look:
OACjQuho4SBTdiYOjTciVPIXMT
12 Spawning (11+1)
13 Channeling (11+1+1)
10 resto (10+2)
Ritual Lord (+4 Skills, 50% recharge)
Agony (10 sec recharge) 426 Life
Destruction (10s/recharge)
Recuperation (+4 regen)
Life (7/hp sec, 10 sec recharge)
Rejuvenation 623 Life
Spirits gift (41 life/spirit, -1 condition)
Spirit Siphon (since we get new spirits every few seconds, essentially +15 energy/3 sec)
So, the basic plan is to summon Agony and Destruction every 10 seconds while spamming Life, and rejuvination. Recuperation gives a powerful +4 regen. use Spirit Siphon in between rituals for a constant supply of energy.
So why does it not work? Destruction is irritating in the fact that it almost never hits anything...and agony alone, while a nice constant degen does not seem to be enough for hard parts of PvE. I last used it during the 3H days...so maybe it will work now with 7H?
I originally had Splinter weapon in there, but there is already enough button sequencing that makes it tough. If you mess up RL and don't use a binding ritual...the build is TOAST.
So, comments, suggestions welcome!

Generally, if you are getting spanked in hm, the first place to look is at your hero build, not your personal build. I would take a look at your heroes, as they will probably be the difference between you dominating HM and HM dominating you.
As for a rit lord build, yours seems a little directionless. You spam a bunch of spirits with passive effects, but they aren't terribly useful on their own unless you combine other skills with them. Basically, I think you need to have more synergy in your selection of skills.
As I see it, there are two uses for ritlord. One is in a pure restoration build, where you use ritlord to pump out party healing from life/rejuv, with the rest of the bar being energy-management and standard healing skills (spirit light, MB&S, ghostmirror light, etc.). This type of build is obviously intended to be the primary healer in a 2-healer backline sort of party.
My preferred use of ritlord is in a offensive setting, however. The Destruction/Rupture soul combination is deadly against PvE mobs. Add in Ritlord to reduce Destruction's recharge to manageable levels, summon spirit to move your destruction around, some energy management (spirit siphon), and some other filler skills like arage, splinter, and agony for use during destruction's downtime.

Thanks for the first input.
Yes my direction is purposely 2 phase in Channeling and resto. Neither one has enough spirits to fill the needs of how quick I can cast, So I chose to do both (since RL adds to both).
Spamming lots of quick recharging spirits is the general idea. Get quick degen and recharging destruction, along with a fresh rejuvination and life. Recuperation was just tossed in (its not designed to be spammable).
Spirit's gift is there to take advantage of the quick casting turnaround on the rituals. I had Boon of creation in there, but Spirit siphon is so much better, especially since you get new spirits to leech on very quickly.
The problem with using splinter and arage and rupture soul, is if you mess up your timing, you will cause RL to take forever to recharge...and then you are dead in the water.
Easier to pre-cast an enchantment or two and then only have to worry about getting spirit siphon in the right order.
As I said, i ran this in the 3H days...maybe it will work better now with 7Heros. Then again, maybe I could just sit and cast nothing and that would work...

hehe, what you say about 7 heroes is true. You can go into any vq with an empty skillbar and complete it at a reasonable pace, assuming you have the right 7H team. I see that as a good thing, however, as it allows the player character to run whatever build they find most fun.
As for messing up RL's timing, that is true. I guess all I can say is that you have to practice the timing so that you don't accidentally use it when you don't intend to.

While I can't answer on your build directly, I can reflect on a thought I had previous around Rit Lord you might want to consider.
Rejuvenation @16+4 gives a very durable spirit you could abuse. With 13+4 Spawning Powers, this gives:
20 Restoration, 17 Spawning
Spirit Level 26, 158 AL, 873 HP While the heal for +12hp/second can be good for countering degen and minor damage, it's main advantage in this case would be abusing it's armor/hp for balling up mobs. Quick number crunch against say an Aatxe or comparable non-armor ignoring dmg:60AL: ~300 dmg/hit
136AL: ~80 dmg/hit (Non-buffed warrior with Stalwart and Riddle of Steel).
158AL: ~27 dmg/hit (or ~14 dmg/hit with Armor of Unfeeling) Spirit would then last ~16 hits from an Aatxe (or up to ~32 with Armor of Unfeeling), or comparable with a fully buffed warrior "tank". Again, purpose is not for it to tank but to endure long enough to ball up foes for AE's. This with only 2-3 skills, leaving 5-6 skills for damage or utility.
Some advantages against other mob stoppers includes unstrippable unconditional armor, immune to hexes, it doesn't steal loot and no griefing if it dies
Edit: Could combine nicely with a trapper, or at least a single Black Powder Mine if you solo for up to 10 seconds blindness.

Thanks Bristle,
Your post is interesting; high level spirits are indeed tough.
I think the whole purpose of RL is to give a boost to spirit level and recharge time to those spirits for which such attributes matter: agony, shelter, rejuvination, destruction etc
It would be silly to use it on Pain for example.
As to the build, I really wish there was another channeling spirit besides destruction. Restoration really has a ton of good spirits for RL, but it needs a few more. Communing/Resto would be a great combo, but you have no energy management that way, and Boon of creation isn't enough when you're talking about 15E bindings.
i wish Communing had some e-management...
