Poison is more useful on a low spec wilderness survival then Troll is, while natural stride can be replaced with other defensive stances.

Lightning reflexes, whirling defense. Back in the good old days when burning arrow was popular, idiots would run around AB with those skills challenging me to a 1v1 BA duel. Naturally, I just pinned them down before they could put up stances and proceeded to do more useful stuff. And of course, because they have 3 defense stances, they didn't have mending touch.

That was when I got a good majority of the "NOOB RUNNERZ" comments.

"Better" is always a subjective argument....there are certainly other stances to use. Natty is really good but Escape is good too if you can handle giving up your elite, and Lightning Reflexes is good if you dont need running very badly (which in PvE I dont feel I need a run stance and pick lightning reflexes for the higher block% plus the IAS....being a beast master I cannot have all the other specs. I need and high wilderness, but the pet dynamic makes it so I dont need blocking as much as most other builds I have tried - and also use Poison Tip Signet to cheat the low wilderness spec and have poison at a decent duration) I also tend to have lots of monk back-up in my group, and don't like how Natty gets wiped if I get enchanted or hexed.

If you feel one skill is so much better than the rest, you need to realize there is a danger in that- if everybody uses the same thing because of it's advantages over other skills then that skill is likely in danger of seeing a nerf, not to mention that some people will know exactly how to deal with your build easier because they've seen it before.(Also, this is how the phrase "cookie cutter" gets used so much... people say one skill is "better" for whatever reason, and even if "better" is only like 2% better or only situationally better then nobody ever uses anything else ever again- which is bad)

To bring this all back into line with the OP....Yes, some of us use Wilderness Survival at minimum spec to get us other abilities, and No not everybody uses Troll Unguent (and Natural Stride and Apply Poison). Even if I had a higher Wilderness, Being a /Mo I would find a more practical self heal. The buff to Troll Unguent may mean something to some out there, but to me it is not enough to re-consider putting it on my bar.

Defensively, it is arguable whether or not reflexes or whirling is actually better than natural stride. You may have better block but natural stride gives better kiting ability.

You have no idea how skill balance works, so stop talking about it as if you do. Skills are changed to either mix up the game, balance overpowered skills, or to bring skills into play. Following your logic, troll should've been nerfed since it's used on pretty much every GvG ranger (which is what skill balance is around if you didn't notice), but instead it got buffed.
