Default Ranger Farming Help...

So I made a build suggested on this forum for farming glacial stones from the Spectral Vaettirs in SE Jaga Moraine... The Melandru's Resilience build works great, except I really don't get any decent drops other than glacial stones at 2-3 per clearing of 9 Vaettirs - then I rezone in to Bjora Marches and then come back. It works really well and in about 2 hrs of farming last night, I got 27 glacial stones.

Unfortunately, without hard mode, I get all blue and white weapon drops with the OCCASIONAL purple... I'm nowhere near finishing GW:EN so hard mode is not within reach. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other areas in GW:EN or Prophecies that would be really good with this build. It seems it would be a good build for farming just about anything that uses a lot of conditions or hexes... I just want an area I can farm to get maybe 1 gold item drop per run... My character has been all over just about everywhere except the fire islands.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

My build is:

Experience: 12+3+1
Blood Magic: 9
Wilderness Survival: 9

Melandru's Resilience-Vampiric Touch-Vampiric Bite-Signet of Agony-Dodge-Zojun's Haste-Storm Chaser

I can't really think of any advice other than work on getting access
to Hard Mode.. farming in Normal Mode is just frustrating and mostly
a waste of time imo.

But hey I might be wrong.. might be something I've overlooked.

Go HM.

Well, i wouldn't call it a complete waste of time... I am getting a decent Glacial Stone drop rate...

I just want more of the other stuff...

how much are glacial stones going for these days, anyway?

Not much...

On the other hand, EotN isn't difficult to beat. Every quest can pretty easily be H/Hed, (with the possible exception of The Elusive Golemancer...That fire dart room is a pain in the ass with H/H), and most can be run by someone else (pay them with the Glacial Stone profits?)

Your best bet is beating EotN

Gw:En takes about a day to two days worth of good old fasion playing. now if you pay runner's that time can be cut short and of course the end game mission can be ran in under 5 mins as well as other parts. i would suggest just picking a side and playing threw all the primaries and then move on and so on, dont try to attack everything at once you have to be orgnized about it. with my guild leader at my side we made it threw in one day of playing but we also played for about 14 hours or so, if u have a life i would not suggest this, i wa sjust very sick and couldnt get outta bed so i used my laptop but yea if u buckle down it should only takea couple of days at most and then u can get hard mode and the fun begins, if you are into farming start doing the dungeons in HM those weild some of the best results i've gotten

It is my understanding that to access hard mode in, say, Prophecies, all i have to beat is the Hell's Precipice mission - not EVERY mission... is this the same for EN?

Do I only have to beat the last mission and therefore I can skip any missions in between that I can? In other words, what is the fastest path to getting hard mode? Do I have to do every single mission listed here?

You have to complete the last quest (A time for heros) but in order to GET the quest, you must complete the other primary quests

so then I have to complete every quest on that page?

What about for Prophecies? Do I have to do every mission or just the last mission - regardless of how i get to it?

To be honest, before ANet fixed it, I was getting my characters HM in GW:EN by having a guildie run me through the Heart of the Shiverpeaks from the Battledepths just outside of the Eye of the North. With them already having the quest needed to activate Destruction's Depths, I was ferried to Central Transfer Chamber. For farming purposes, of course. This is no longer possible, you must complete all primary quests and follow the storyline as we should.

HM in Prophecies is not as hard, to be perfectly honest when I first started playing GW nearly 2 years ago I had friends wanting to run me everywhere to rush me through the game, so I skipped about 3 missions. Nolani Academi, Gates of Kryta, and Iron Mines of Moladune. Those missions and I'm sure a couple more at least are not needed to get HM. Just get to Hell's Precipice as fast as you can, and beat the campaign, and it's HM for you my friend.

As far as soloing, after they nerfed the speed trap build for UW I have not found another Ranger solo build. I've been doing my soloing on Warrior and Monk. It's very profitable to have either class, as they both are very versatile, but that doesn't stop me from still farming on my Ranger via dungeons, Tombs of Primeval Kings and dual trapping UW. Ranger is my main afterall...can't stay away from it for too long. It never hurts to join a team for farming, in Tombs it's all I do, and in the last 2 days I've come out about 50k richer from a few random runs. That doesn't include the farming on my other characters.

Thunderhead Keep, Ring of Fire, Abaddon's Mouth, and Hell's Precipice are the only missions needed to complete Proph

Thanks for all the help, guys... I'll be working on getting EN HM ASAP so I can farm those lvl 26 Spectral Vaettir's and sell Glacial Stones & rare items...

Anyone know approximately how much glacial stones are going for right now?
