Thank you for looking at my thread. My current issue is that I am having trouble farming Mountain Trolls near Droknar's Forge as a R/Mo. My current build works fine until the Mountain Trolls use "Disrupting Chop," especially when it disables my "Barrage," which I need to keep my Health up.

Here is my current build:
Attributes:
Healing Prayer: 8
Expertise: 12
Wilderness Survival: 4
Marksmanship :11

Any tips/hints would be greatly appreciated.

i would use Dwarven Stability, it lengthens stances so you can have a perma Whirling>LR chain, that would prevent alot of the dchops

There shouldn't be any real problem with the build itself - its been possible to barrage farm Trolls (in NM) since prophecies. Since then majority of the skill in the build have been buffed: Barrage, Vigorous Spirit, Lightning Reflexes and Throw Dirt, there shouldn't be much of a problem.

Basically lure > use Lightning Reflexes > then Throw Dirt > Dryder's Defense > Lightning Reflexes > and so on. Use Whirling as a backup, Lightning and Throw Dirt should be recharged after using it every time.

The best method to farming Mountain Troll is using a Trapper build - works in both NM and HM. Pretty much has:

Spike Trap (e)
Dust Trap
Flame Trap
Barbed Trap
Serpents Quickness or Trappers Speed
Troll Unguent
Whirling Defense
Optional or extra stance

Just lay 3 of each trap, lure, then watch them go BOOM.

I occassionally farm mountain trolls, but never ever ever with a barrage build. The build you have posted is the FoW forest farmer. If I remember correctly, you're mostly deal with casters in the forest who's attacks you can avoid by strafing between bow shots, and a few skeleton dudes that will melee you, but you kite from them.

To solo melee enemies like Mountain Trolls, I go with a trapper build and lay dozens of traps at the mouth of the cave with Edge of Extinction then aggro them and make sure to keep up Troll Unguent. Works great.

Also, I go as a R/Me with the elite mesmer spell Echo and usually echo Dust Trap. It's also what I use to trap UW HM (but with 2 other rangers, lol). Here's a template from Wiki. It's not exactly but I use, but it's close and you'll probably have more luck: OgUScZMPKhkjyZ5Mc9NCHBA

Play around with it, change up some stuff and I think you'll find it works better for the trolls.

I do have a trap build. I have seen your video already on Youtube when I was looking for demos. If you wouldn't mind, can I know what your Health/Energy is and your armor. I have 15k Druid's Armor. But when I try to reach 16 Wilderness Survival, my health drops <400.

I have 16 wilderness survival on my trapping armor. I use a rune of superior vigor along with survivor insignias to keep my health close to 500. Also, when I trap I take a staff or wand/offhand combo that when equipped gives me 58 energy + extra health (I also have my armor loaded with attunement and radiant runes/insignias). That allows me a good energy bar for the energy expensive Dust Trap. However, I don't remember what my expertise is, but its level cuts my spells costs by 52% (?). I have to look this up, but I do remember it was rather expensive to completely pimp out a set of trapping armor. =\

Good luck... oh, and watching the trapping You Tube videos are FTW. I learned a lot too.

Normally my health would be around 485 at 16 wilderness, but my best advice is to just swap your headgear or whatever armour piece that has the superior Wilderness to one that doesn't when you go to lure. I used to do that for UW a lot.

Also you can equip a sword/axe and a shield containing 30hp mods to give you another 60hp and armour, but be sure to use Whirling Defense before swapping to them as your energy will likely be at 0.

Traps are your friends for that, I really cant see you using Barrage for farming Trolls.
