Paragons...
A lot of people speak of paras as a support class with chants, shouts, etc but can they act as a damage class well? or does that just ruin the point of paras in a team?

Paragons can be damage dealers while still able to offer some support to the party. While they do become more towards damage dealing the amount of support is minimized. Some times a balance can be found between the two and be able to provide great damage and still make the parties' lives easier.
Typically a paragon going all out damage will, or should, still have some shouts/chants to give the party a help. After all helping the party is what gives the paragon their energy management.

It depends a lot on the team build.
I had a lot of fun running 3 (including self) damage paragons in a team in EotN storyline.
Think it was me as P, 2 hero P, 1W hero, 2 monk hench, interrupt hench and misc hench depending on situation.
So yes, paragons van be used as damage dealers, but when used as single para in a team I'd use them as support player.

Correct, the number of Paragons dictates the strength of the Paragon, if that makes any sense. One paragon, like said all ready, is good for support, but multiple paragons can do more damage as the weight of being supportive is spread throughout all.
Thus more attack skills and more variety in shouts/chants can be achieved. One Paragon in a team can only do so much, but from 2 and above, the effects of the Paragon are very noticeable.

LOL i run a dps para and he owns
you just have to get creative when you make a new build, for example if your trying to make a dps para think about other profession skills. Like you could go P/E and use conjure fire and mark of rodgort than spam "There on fire!". Or you could Go P/N and throw barbs on your build. Just random stuff like that works amazing!

Yes I agree with Neo...
Its not hard to come up a unique balanced build, and the fact that the spear has such a great refire rate really helps to throw out a lot of pressure from just normal attacks. And dont forget that Paragons are great at inflicting deep wounds (even though most of them are conditional).
Maybe consider trying a few of these...
[skill]Vicious Attack[/skill][skill]Spear of Lightning[/skill][skill]"Go for the eyes!"[/skill][skill]Defensive Anthem[/skill][skill]Anthem of Flame[/skill][skill]"Never Surrender!"[/skill][skill]Aggressive Refrain[/skill][skill]Signet of Return[/skill]
Spear Mastery 12 + 1 + 1
Leadership 9 + 1
Command 9 + 1
This is quite similar to a build we ran in GvG, but works very well in PvE also. You dont really need too many attack skills as your pure DPS from Agressive Refrain should be enough to bring down enemies. This build is probably better for if there is another Paragon in the team with DA, but it still works never the less.
[skill]Merciless Spear[/skill][skill]Spear of Lightning[/skill][skill]Song of Restoration[/skill][skill]Ballad of Restoration[/skill][skill]Aria of Restoration[/skill][skill]Finale of Restoration[/skill][skill]Aggressive Refrain[/skill][skill]Signet of Return[/skill]
Spear Mastery 10 + 1
Motivation 11 + 1 + 1
Leadership 9 + 1
This one is more aimed at healing rather than damage but can still deal out a good lot of DPS. Merciless Spear in place of Vicious Attack due to the fact that Go For The Eyes has been dropped. The good thing about this build is that the shouts are all cast and forget, they do the work for you. This is a supportive role but shouldn be put in place for a monk.
[skill]merciless spear[/skill][skill]Spear of lightning[/skill][skill]"Go for the Eyes!"[/skill][skill]Angelic Bond[/skill][skill]"Never Surrender!"[/skill][skill]"Stand Your Ground!"[/skill][skill]Aggressive Refrain[/skill][skill]Signet of Return[/skill]
Spear Mastery 12 + 1 +1
Motivation 9 + 1
Leadership 9 + 1
More aimed at defence but can hit out for a lot of damage. Bond important professions like the monks, or maybe even the tank to reduce the damage on him. But make sure you let your monks know that your going to be taking Angelic Bond before the game ^^
I've used Aggressive Refrain in all of these, even though it got nerfed I still believe its a good skill, if you dont feel comfortable using it try another IAS skill maybe from another profession ^^
Hope this helps.

Those builds look pretty good. Use one (or even 2) on heroes and throw in Purifying Finale. Now Aggressive Refrain is more manageable. Looks like they would cause good damage combined together, and have good defensive options.

Well paragons tend to be second to other classes if they go full DPS or full attack, but they can mix the two like no other class can (cept mabay a rit but they suck :P)
So i wouldnt recomend pure DPS.

Paragon max spears deal more damage than warrior max swords. However swords attack more in a givin time than spears but only by less than half a second. Many people don't like non-support paragons simply because they don't know what they can do, and of course paragons are known for support.

Damage AND support is ftw
but i kinda think of paragons as order necros with great armour, great damage, can support party damage AND defense.
paragons are GW's number 1 class imo - still imba though^^
