Explaining to guild member why Paragons are good?
I need some advice. I've told him about the constant +100 AL, the warrior-like ranged DPS, and he steadfastly refuses to listen, simply saying "omg paragons suck," "they're wannabe monks," "they're wannabe rangers," "dervishes pwn," "assassins r weak," etc.
Any tips on how to pound some sense into his head, or should I just assume he's an idiot and resign to his nature as a lost cause?

Don't forget [theres nothing to fear]
Anyways, if everything you said didn't change his opinion at all, he's an idiot, and you shouldn't waste your time with him.
Sorry to be so blunt, but it's true.

Sounds like a lost cause, some people just insist on being stupid. But...
Take a imbagon and both hench monks, then bet him 100k that he can't kill himself* in your party unless he leaves the paragon's shout range.
*sacrifice skills not allowed obviously

Limitless energy.
Party-wide support and in-your-face DPS.
Imbagon.
Synergy with other paragons.
If he doesn't understand that, he's an idiot.

btw the constant +100 al in the imbagon bar is actually a warrior skill. So for you to say paragons are awesomesauce because of that isn't really correct. The build is an amazing bar. However Paragons are awesomesauce for many other reasons. And YESSSS!!! AWESOMESAUCE IS A WORD.
O yea your guildie is a moron tell him to go read a paragon guide and kick him

I'm not an officer yet, I joined a guild to try to give advice to other members; (don't really play anymore myself, but I like helping people get better) have already steered one warrior away from Gladiator's Defense and over to Eviscerape; this Dervish seems like a scrub though.

How is it not correct? Save yourselves, although a warrior skill, is part of the reason why paragons kick ass.

...what? Are you trying to say they aren't good because you don't see them in your pugs? In the ~3000 hours of gameplay, playing in balanced PvE, I've pretty much always had a paragon since Nightfall.

That's him, by the way.
I'll start by restating what I already told him but he ignored: you don't see many paragons because most players don't have the patience to play paragon long enough to learn how good they are, and often no one tells them how good paragons are. And in your case they hate paragons ahead of time (jealousy?) and steadfastly refuse to play one.
For a bit of information on him: He's played 800 hours in 2 years (casual much?), does not understand most non-Dervish classes' skills, does not understand basic debating, and believes Ursan Blessing is good.

You are still young grasshopper. They are godly in PvE, but maybe you haven't seen that, because all you do is ursan.

A better reason why you don't see Paras:
They are so stupid easy I can roll my face over my keyboard (after disabling the microsoft key obviously), and not even look at the screen and play a Paragon pretty effectively. (and are therefore, mind numbing boring, even if they are uber.)
true story.
If you don't think unlimited energy, long range sword dps that you don't have to follow the target for, party wide +56dps boost, infinite duration unstrippable IAS, party wide 82.32% damage reduction (SY) combined with another skill that provides a party wide 99.9 some % damage reduction total isn't broken or good, then I have no idea what to tell you.

I will be completely honest, and tell you this is an absolute waste of time then.

He sounds nub, get him kicked somehow. The reason he doesn't see paras in his groups is beause he runs noobway, ursan is baed and therefore by association he is bad as well.

You could try putting together a good build for him, tell him exactly how to play it, and the take him out for some vanquishing in that build.
Don't know if it'll help though.

he sounds 1337 man, and he has more experience than everyone here, he knows what hes talking about, paragons just plain suck, ok lol i cant continue with this. Paragons are extremely unpopular because retards like you spread the word to other retards that paragons suck. They can make your monks job much easier than it should be as well as buffing up your part, having very awesome e-management, warrior's dps from a long ranger thus no need to chase targets. if you dont think those are reasons a paragon is godly im afraid NONE can drill it into your head. Also i dont know what you mant by story playing but if you havent noticed Kormir herself is a paragon. Only reason you dont see a paragon in Elite areas is because you run Ursanway, wich we all know has no spot for change, it MUST be ursans and HB monks and TTs. My guild runs so many elite areas and dungeons and VQs in HM and im always there to SY for them. The only reason you dont see them in farming is because they are meant for party support and there is a para build for farming FoW Beaches.

Another good point is that the buffs from a Paragon cannot be stripped.
