Paragon Variations
I like Paragons a lot. The way their armor looks, and just the way they operate overall. The only thing I'm concerned about is variations. Paragons (as far as I see it) are just "Save Yourselves!" slaves. Is there any other builds I could use that incorporate different play styles, (Warrior style possibly?) I'm looking for anything that's out of the ordinary, yet still is effective.

Well... you could go PvP.. were the situation is a little better... Depending on the type of PvP you can try Fall Back!, Make Haste!, or maybe just ... *scratches head*
I've deleted my PvE Paragon and now I just give my Rit and Ranger a Paragon secondary *shrug*
Yeah, I love paragon, but... the situation could be better..
I know cookie cutter builds suck, but did you check pvxwiki for inspiration?

for PvE nothing is going to compare to an imbagon. It's by far the most powerful PvE build in the game, and if your character can be playing it, your team will be much better off if you do. that being said, most idiots in PvE play terrible, terrible builds, most other people are terrible so they don't notice. Feel free to play something terrible, most people won't know your build sucks, but you will.

You can always run a stunning strike paragon as well with spear of fury. Just bring along a condition like anthem of weariness to activate spear of fury and you can spam stunning strike on casters for a 8-10 second daze. I usually run that build if I am with 1 or more paragons. A group of paragons running together work really nicely together.

For most pve you don't need [save yourselves], and thus you are free to go with different options. I, personally, am a big fan of [cruel spear] and [the power is yours]. Example: because I hate searing flames eles, I've been using [blazing finale] with "The power is yours."

If every other character of mine can survive HM fairly well with 3 necro heroes and henches, why can't a paragon without "save yourselves"? When, generally, at least half the foes (if not all) are attacking minions, is my party really benefiting from that armor more than they would increased damage, energy/adrenaline, condition/hex removal, or even block%?

Could I pull off a Paragon that uses a Sword, and plays as a Warrior, with some shouts thrown in? Or would that not be a decent build?

this is a team game. If you have an imbagon, that takes care of defense for pretty much the entire party, that and a hybrid monk to clean up spikes/conditions/hexes and you can leave the remaining 6 characters to offense. You won't need to bring a MM and 2 healers.

First off, do you have EoTN?
Second, I guess you technically could, but you wouldn't do anything better than a warrior would. But hey, since you asked here are some ideas to try. Have fun
[build p/w nosave axe mastery=12][cyclone axe][dismember][executioner's strike][brawling headbutt][theres nothing to fear][i am unstoppable][soldier's fury][signet of return][/build]
[build p/w nosave sword mastery=12][barbarous slice][gash][sun and moon slash][brawling headbutt][theres nothing to fear][i am unstoppable][soldiers fury][signet of return][/build]

There's more to a paragon then just spamming SY!-this is one of the reasons I'm not a fan of Snow Bunny's "new" (been out a couple monthes now) Paragon guide. Alot of people seem to think that all a paragon can do is use a warrior shout, and this simply isn't the case.
You do have a variety of options-however I wouldn't use a mellee weapon with a paragon-and this is simply because the paragon has a FANTASTIC ranged weapon, and it would be a shame not to use it.
Whenever I'm not running Imba, I use the following build:
[cruel spear][spear of redemption][spear of fury][there's nothing to fear][anthem of weariness][go for the eyes][you move like a dwarf][aggressive refrain]
This build has great DPS, plus can cause KD and ranged deep wound. Furthermore, if you have adrenaline built up, you can use [[spear of fury] to use [[cruel spear] almost back to back (whether you target the same foe or a diff. one to spread the love is up to).
If I'm in a party with alot of adrenaline users, this comes in handy:
[spear of redemption][blazing spear][anthem of fury][anthem of weariness][great dwarf weapon][go for the eyes][there's nothing to fear][aggressive refrain]
For this one you can drop Weariness for something else if you like-another spear attack is pretty spiffy (maybe [[spear of fury] or one of the Battlestandards). It takes a bit of pratice monitering both enemies and your party at once, but you'll get used to it after a while.
Already there's two options for you to try out-neither one involves SY.
The key to a good paragon build is basically three things:
[aggressive refrain][there's nothing to fear] and something to upkeep AR if you don't want to use TNtF (I get lazy when I'm not an imba and alternate between TNtF and one of my anthems).
