Your friends are obviously new to this lol...
What they don't realize is that Necro can increase max hp tremendously using Demonic Flesh and the use his various touch skills like Vampiric Touch and Vile Touch and the ever popular Plague Touch. If he goes under heavy fire, then he can simply Grenth's Balance {E} the highest energy shmuck.
N/W is backwards true but tactics skills can help with it.

Ah thanks alot, I appreciate your feedback. Still, do you think a warrior primary would be more effective? Or would there playstyles be different? I have been wanting to make a Warrior main lately without using the popular monk secondary. If W/N plays differently than N/W then i might consider one.

Excluding random arena...warrior in pvp is designed for one main thing: heavy constant damage (hammer wars for disruption too). They don't defend because they are rarely attacked.
A n/w blood/sword is terrible in organized pvp because he is sacrificing tons of damage to be able to sustain his health vs damage. Not a wise idea. Let the monks do the healing and focus on damage.
A W/N can do better but it's pretty limited and is a specific purpose setup.

Hmm that makes alot of sense. How do you think a sword warrior/ curse necro would work? There are some pretty nasty curses like one that deals additional shadow damage everytime the target gets hurt.

THe answer to the almighty N/w vs. W/n
I had the exact same question you did about the differences between these two build so I built both. Currently both are have accended and both play well in pve and pvp. Honestly if used properly either build is quite strong and are pretty equal. Heres the compare contrast:
So you don't have to read (and I don't have to type alot ) heres the long story short:
W/N have better armor ratios, plus You have strength with gives you a passive penetration bonus. I pesonally recomend a sword build with blood magic. I also recomend gladiator armor to boost your energy levels, you really want 30 or higher. This build is great for quick take downs.
this is my skill bar used( in order left to right).
sprint, life siphon, for great justice, sever artery, gash, final thrust, plague touch, well of blood
N/W have of course higher energy resources and are great for mass groups, and of course you have soul reaping (energy gain from dead people ) This works well for axe builds but again blood magic.
this is my skill bar used( in order left to right).
soul feast (vile touch if fighting the dead),life siphon, plague touch, evicerate, cleave, cyclone axe, well of suffering ,well of blood
So after all that whats my answer W/N for 1 on 1 quick take downs, N/W for large groups aka "farming"
Also word of warning, either build can be shut down with things like spirit shackle and energy burn. If this happens disengage your opponent and use plague touch *thats why i keep it equipped*.
PSS: in either build life siphon is heavly used. before i engage the enemy i run it on 3 mobs to give me haelth regen of +6. once i have a corpse i use well of blood to keep me super boosted.

Don't do n/w trust me. Its better off as W/n. Better armor is one key factor because you wont have to use sooooo many life stealing skills to keep you alive. Believe me domonic flesh is not enoughf to do you any good. It just extends your max health, remember that you sac health to do so which means unless you have healing you wont benefit from it. Oh anyways your not focoused on dealing damage if your biggest concern is staying alive the whole battle.

I've been a necro warrior but changed my secondary after I acsended cause I find you won't be really using much of the warrior skills to be effective if you are primary necro. If your primary is Necro you are most beneficial to the team as a pure necro without any sword skills whatsoever. If you are really adamant on using your sword then i suggest you go the warrior/necro route, since you'll feel more at home. when i use my necro in pvp there are no warrior skills in it and my group will do much better overall! using a sword as a N/W you will might end up being more occupied with your adrenaline skills instead of your much more powerful necro spells since that's your specialty.
