it doesn't matter what your 2nd profession is. as long as one of the professions is necro.
read the skills. SS is a curse so see if there are any other skills in the curse line you like.
no one is gonna give you there best build. but if you use search........

But since all of that typing done by holden might of well have just been a decent build... I'll give a rough outline...
N/Me
Vampiric Gaze
Arcane Echo
Spiteful Spirit
Awaken the Blood
Suffering
Insiduous Parasite
Rez
Other Skill (Necrotic Transversal to deny corpses, or whatever else you desire)
This of course is a rough outline, and hardly the only build possible. Both this one and the MM Necro build you requested is assuming Level 20 and Ascended. Until that, make do with what you can.

There is no best build. I augmented my SS build from pure warrior/ranger hate to a more universal class (bringing diversion, hex breaker, etc).
You need to play and find out what suits you.

like everyone else i don't think theres skills that go with this build. I have a n/mo and use SS, a few curse spells and a few things to heal myself and i have restore life to ressurect.

all im saying argonaut is the more comfortable you are with the skills the better your build will be. these skills can fit together like a puzzle. mesmer goes well with necro and often ill go mesmer/necro and still use SS.
you can do anything you want, just see what fits with SS.
mark of pain might be fun.

Mark of Pain IS fun.
Just remember it has to be physical damage, and IIRC the person hexed with MoP doesn't take damage, only the people around him when he's struck with physical dmg. You may think that'd be obvious, but...

True if you want to be a medoicer(I am at spelling) SS necro! There are two Secondarys for a SS necro that work very well the first is by far the better for a group setting and that is a Mesmer secondary use arcane echo to copy SS and spam it on the enemy mobs. The second choice only works in some places and its a Monk secondary. With the monk secondary you can solo farm certain areas. I suggest that you try the Mesmer secondary first becuase its alot easier and can deal alot of crazy dmg to mobs. Go with N/Me first.

For PvP there's only one build that works for me. All others simply don't have the energy to do everything you need to counter warriors and rangers effectively. Arcane echo on SS for PvP is possibly the silliest thing you can do, as it itself will cast a lot of mana, then you cast SS on a lot of people, and most of the copies get removed and you sit there hoping for something to die. Anyway:
16 Curses
10 Inspiration
Rest in soul reaping
1) Spiteful Spirit
2) Parasitic Bond (cover hex with an extra bonus of self-heal)
3) Enfeeble (21 seconds of weakness for 5 mana to absolutely kill the damage of both warriors and spike rangers? Yes please.)
4) Drain Enchantment (Gets you energy and helps out your team. Go for elementalist attunements, IW, Balthazar's Aura or Armor of Earth, Arcane Echo, or just whatever you can get your hands on. Boon prot monks are a relaible source)
5) Inpired Hex (Again you get energy and help out your team. A lot of times you can grab an extra copy of Spiteful or some fun hex like Wither this way)
6) Ressurect Signet
7) Mantra of Resolve (Casting such a nasty 2-second hex will make you a huge interrupt target and this skill is essential in making sure you keep on going)
8) Whatever you feel like. Plauge touch is nice for RA, or you can take Rigor Mortis or just whatever curse your team needs. Power Drain is also an option. It's not a staple skill because sometimes interruptable casters are hard to find. But the energy you get from it is enormous.
Cast Spiteful Spirit, follow it up with Parasitic Bond to cover, then throw on Enfeeble to add insult to injury if it's a spiker ranger or warrior. If you spot them removing the cover (easy because their bar will turn red again, reapply the hex) Use energy skills while Spiteful repops then pick a new target to cast on. Then go back to the first one and reapply it.
The HoD helm can put a damper in your plans, allowing you to only keep Spiteful on one warrior. In this case you can still help out by throwing around Enfeeble everywhere.
