Hi @ all!

First of all: This is not a complete build yet!

As I ran around the zos shivros area looking for some naga-skins (for a collectors-hornbow), I realized that I don't stand a chance (with my Wammo) against the Oni.

I think a found a build (incomplete, I know) now that will let my necro (IGN: Rottney Decay… BTW. do you like stargate atlantis?) pay them back whacking my poor Wammo to death.
I'll have to get back home first thoug and change his secondary to ranger...
I think it should be used 1vs1 against an Oni.

Curses 16 (12+1+3)
Wilderness Survival high
Soulreaping rest

Skills:
1. Price of Faliure
2. Dryders Defence
3. Recless Haste
4. Spiteful Spirit
5. Enfeebling Touch / Throw Dirt
6. Lightning Reflexes
7. Whirling Defence
8. Troll Unguent

I think with only using 1-4 we should be able to kill one Oni relatively fast. The other skills are for backup only…
I know, that this is a very energy intensive build but by switching out your staffs, using a energy armor and the natural regeneration we should be able to recast things if necessary. I also know that 5(b), 6,7 are based on expertise which we will be unable to increase, but as I said… it's just for backup.
I'd use it in the following way: Run up to the spawnpoint (you'll have to know where they pop up) and be careful to agro just one. Give him some of (4) then use (2) when he gets near. Get (1) and (3) on him as fast as you can and hope that he'll die…

This is pure theory, but making him miss almost always, increasing his attackspeed and using (4) & (1) he should kill himself pretty fast.

Could you try this and perhaps make improvements?

Oni are hard to aggro just one, once one is aggro'ed they all start doing that funny looking run after you! I still see it my dreams! Someone please wake me!

Just my 2 cents, there are some newbies out there (not me, i understand it well) that might not understand all the shortcuts ur using.

I must commend you that the build is original (unlike some that I keep seeing rear their ugly heads in this thread). It took me a moment to realize what you were doing...I'm guessing on aggro all--ss--reckless haste on guy with ss-- all while in dryder's + throw dirt.

Thats exactly what I was doing before i died...
The problem is that they somehow manage to hit me through dryders... even thoug they are under reckless haste. I tried to bug around with dusttrap to blind them for longer then 3sec (throwdirt) but to no success. They just run away when the trap is triggered and stop doing anything (so they won't trigger SS in this time).
When you are 1vs1 against a oni (yeah i managed to lure one away after lets say 100 tries...) you will win.
Energy, too IS a problem...

I'm now thinking about changing my secondary to Mesmer an try using some of this profession's skills... But I'm broke at the moment as i bought my luxon-prestige-gloves yesterday and skills are very expensive. I'll try Spirit of Failure, perhaps Distortion...

I'll see what I can do...

P.S.: I had time to watch them ALOT running around... I found they somehow look like clumsy astronauts or guys in deepsea-diving-suits (? sorry I'm not a native English-speaker...)

Empty slots: choose from Desperation Blow, Drunken Blow, Watch Yourself, Shields Up (Oni do piercing damage), Thrill of Victory, or another block stance.

Disclaimer: this worked beautifully against up to 2 oni, haven't really tried 3, and I have not attempted it after today's patch. Sorry for the thread hijack.

I'm NOT sorry about your post... just want to pay them back for killing me.
I thought of something to "passively" damage/kill them with my necro but I never thought of my Wammo having the skills for this, too! (Althoug i use a similar build for Sin-Bosses). Sometimes I'm really blindfolded...

Well... I'll also to integrate this build with the spirit bond build soon. It looks promising... and i think we can take on more then only 2 onis...

Did anyone notice that their drops aren't really bad? (Except for oni-fangs-stuff)

I find the problem with oni generally to be Horns of the Ox, which knocks you down if you solo. On casters, they can shred you to bits really quickly, which is why you want to blind or Weaken them.

Rangers can solo 1 using a pet, or up to 2-3 if lured right using a trapper build.

Here's a neat build one of my guildies came up with for tanking onis:

W/X

Attributes - strength and tactics as high as possible (I go with minor strength and sup tactics rune).

Glad Defense
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Shield Bash
"On Your Knees"
Dolyak Sig
Heal Sig
<Empty Slot>

The idea is to have glad up as much as possible while spamming riposte and deadly riposte. The key is to charge adrenaline for "On Your Knees", then hit Shield Bash, wait for it to block, hit "On Your Knees", and Glad again. There is a two second window where you wont be in Glad defense due to the recharge of Shield Bash, so I usually take another defensive stance (Shield stance works nicely) to keep me in 75% block all the time. Dolyak Sig will protect you from the hits that do get through. With this build, I could tank a group of 5 onis pretty easily.

That may not work due to the fact you got to block an attack "skill", you have to have pretty good timing or it will go to waste on the block and your enemy wont be knocked down

Not true - with onis, they tend to spam jagged strike a lot. Keep in mind you can take on groups of 4 or 5 at a time. Also, if you read the skill description for Shield Bash, it blocks the next skill against you for the next 9-10 sec, which is more than enough for at least one oni to use a skill.

Any of you got anything good??? in like 30-40 runs.. I only got like 4 gold oni daggers dmg 20% below 50% hp with a 3/1 vamp, and 5 armor, 19% below 50%hp with 19% longer enchant mod, some other I cant remember, and the best I got was req 10 15% ALWAYS, -5 energy oni daggers.... Also got a gold oni shroud from a chest which turned out to be sup curses.... Oh yes.. I got a little monstrous eyes, fangs and claws too... plus some keen oni claws... and 2 real bad blue non max oni blades + 1 non max white oni blade.
Pretty crappy drop rate if u ask me....
