Necro respec-- Mez maybe?
OK so I FINALLY Ascended last night (took bloody long enuf), and now I'm, considering doing the second 15-point skill quest, in which you can spec out your secondary...
I've been a Necro/Hunter like, forever, but honestly, I rarely if ever use any of the bow skills, shy of the healing power- and udsually if I have to pop it, it's already too late. smile.gif
I'm thinking that Necro/Mesmer has some interesting synergy- what do you guys think? Just FYI- I mainly play PvE, and I HATE interupting- I'm much more about debuffing/life stealing/minion controlling.
Thanks!

There's a ton of threads on this, but for the most part:
N/Me is great for degeneration and hexing. One of the most useful classes for PvP. I solely use N/Me for my necro as well because of some serious non-55 soloing help that /Me provides (e.g. Wastrel's Worry and Diversion on bosses).
N/Mo is great for minion mastering. Heal Area is almost invaluable to keep your minions alive between battles.
N/Mo is also great for running Orders, Battery or other Blood spells. Many of the sacrifice skills need some sort of efficient self healing in order to do so, so that you don't tax your monk.
N/Mo also allows you to create a 55 Necro if you want it.
So, for utility in PvE, I would recommend N/Mo. For PvP, I love my N/Me.

N/Me is really good. Many choices going that route. Things like huge damage on casters like backfire + soul leech. Energy denial with wither + energy burn/tap/etc. Degen with rotting flesh and blood + illusion hexes...
Although I'd also recommend taking the /Mo secondary for more versatility with minions.

If you hate interupting others, then why would you want a mesmer?
Mesmers' domination magic is based on interupts and passive aggression really. Illusion magic is based on movement and condition. Inspiration is for defense.
I have a N/Me and I only use my Mesmer side to do interupts, as my Necromancer can't really do that.
If you go MM, stay purely on your Necromancer, because you'll need energy (soul reaping) and powerfull minions (death). So no point in any secondary profession. If you go with a condition build, then a mesmer is okay to use. Fragility+Virulence(e)+Phantom Pain+Shatter Hex+Epidemic = lots of close monsters feeling the pain of conditions.
I think Xenoranger has a nice health degen build posted (N/Me build I think).
This is just my opinion, hope it helps somewhat.

Interresting take... I've read some other threads on this and other forums that say N/Mez is good for PvE because the AI is stupid enough to keep attacking/casting through conditions... That's why I initially considered it.
I WAS wondering how some people had such huge MM armies following them around though... Blood of the Master is only so effective.

People used to have large amount of minions in PvE, but because of the new limitations based on Death Magic, that is no longer so. Although you can use Verata's vs Minion summoners in PvE and steal their minions for a short time.
They also changed the AI so the monsters won't attack or cast if it will kill them, but they will do so until it they are down to almost 0 health. Verata's Sacrifice was the way to go to keep minions alive, but now with a 60 second recharge if you have more then 3 minions, its tough.
