Some of you might already know

I have just joined here and just started playing GW.

I already got a Warrior/Monk class going right now and I was just messing around with the Necromancer.

What would be a good secondary class for the Necromancer? I was looking in the build section of the forums and someone made a thread about a great Necro solo build, but he doesn't state what the second class that is paired with the necro.

I read Necromancer / Monk wouldn't be a good idea to do, I was thinking about Necro / Mesmer but on build directory on the guru site it says that’s a good PvP build. As of right now, am working on a good PvE build to solo with.

solo builds almost always have monk in there somewhere and the standard necro solo is no exception. however if you plan on playing with others (vastly more fun in my opinion), or even henchies, then it depends what you want your necro to do. necro can fill alot of different rolls, from touch attacker to minion master to battery. also, necro can ususally do pretty well without using a secondary at all, so its no big deal if you decide you dont like the choice you made. in addition, secondaries can be changed later in the game.

that said, i like ranger secondary for my necro. may not be ideal in every single situation, but it works very well for alot of them and gives you many different options that synergize well with your necro skills.

when you ascend, in places (seekers passage, destiny's gorge, hero's audience) there will be ghosts offering quests in the name of for example..The Warriors Path, The Necromancers Path etc. After you complete those quests, you can speak to those ghosts and change your secondary into that!

i tryed necro/monk and i didnt like it too much. I also have a necro/mesmer and that woreked out great! with the mesmer skills you can steal mana and life so you can steal more health and cast more spells

I like using necro/Monk for my battery build, and if I honestly don't trust the monk.

I use Necro/mesmer for Echo SS, because I also have access to mantra of concentration and whatnot incase I'm in an area like that one collapsing temple in factions n kursick territory.

occasionally, I use Necro/Ele for the glyphs if I feel like just messing around with fun stuff.
