whos the better minion master?
necro/
or
rit/necro
a lvl 26 golem death magic maxed
600 hp
lvl 21 golem this is with spawning power maxed
820 hp
as the necro you get soul reaping to cover energy cost
rit gets boon of creation which gives health and energy every time you spawn a minion.
the over all damage/armor is higher of course for the necro MM, but would the higher life make up for it? Another negative for the rit is only having 8 minions as opposed to the necros 10. Rits get explosive growth with does damage to any foe in the area as minions rise (this is doubled for animate bone minions)
with signet of creation and death nova this can be pretty tough to beat.
so your opinions?

The Necromancer is the best as his main attribute is soul reaping and Rits don't have it.Blood of the master is attributed to it.

Primary Necro is the better MM. Higher level minions are better. Stronger attack and greater armor. 5 attribute levels is a big difference in my mind.

Rt/N for tanking purpose due to high hp. Boon of Creation helps with energy, so is Attuned was Songkai. Explosive Growth helps deal damage.
N primary makes you summon more and higher damage fiends.

I would play primary necro for MM period and would advise the same.
However;this is a game. Have fun. Why cant a rit make a better minion bomber?
Or maybe as a team. Rit raises the minions, triggers damage, then the necro casts Nova, maybe BiPs rit, rit Tastes all his pets, boom damage again, necro fires Putrid or Suffering or Blood or whatever.
The options are there. If I can do both campaigns with only henchies on my MM(necro), then with other players you should be able to work out something like this. Again though in most cases(ie pug groups, using hench, etc) then I would only recommend N/x w/maxed Death and running AotL ideally.

QFT, only thing Rit MM's are good for is Minion Bombing and being a right pain in the ass if theres one in a group who uses Signet Of Creation when you've got 10 minions up.

Is it just me, or is everyone here completely oblivious to the fact that this is in the Sardelac Sanitarium?
Personally I think a Mesmer/Necromancer is the best MM, as I'm able to use inspiration skills to keep my energy up.

Well I noticed that as well, but then I dont have the power to move it
Basically any other class is totally inferior when it comes to MM as your Minions will be weaker and you're also having to waste slots on your skill bar for energy management which is already built in to a Necromancer.

I can imagine a Rt/N having its advantages as an MM, but overall I think a N/Mo makes the best MM since it has the highest level minions and heal area. For specific purposes, such as B/P teams, a Rt/N is probably better since the main purpose is to tank, not do damage.
But Me/N? Sorry, I don't see why.. Not for PvE at least. Sure, you get to the corpses first, but your minions are inferior. Soul Reaping gives you all the energy management you need anyway.

Necro is the way to go for MM. You'll be able to produce more powerful and longer lasting minions with a max death along with whatever weapon-set you have. Using anything else other than max death for a MM is pointless and the minions become little more than an energy pool for any other necro on the feild, which may or may not be advantageous to your team.
Your secondary should match how you're using your necro and what kind of role you want your minions to play; either as meat shields or as support. You should also consider the amount and kind of enemies you're going to face; as this will determine how fast you're going to be able to make new minions or be able to replace ones that die off.
Also don't jump the gun and think that you need to or should be pressured into using monk as your secondary for your MM. Most people think that Botm will tax the monks energy as they heal you after you sac. your health to heal your minions. But what you lose in health saves the monks a lot more in energy as your minions take hits that would otherwise be making its way through to other party members.

I have built the rit/n MM (trying it out) he's only about 1 /12 hrs old already lvl 13 no problems so far. BUT....I am still on shing jea so I dont know how he will do at higher lvls. energy managment has not been a problem at all. Boon of creation helps alot, with animate bone minions I am getting 2 minions and almost all of my energy back. with vamp horrors I have a more powerful minion that helps with the life. usually one or two hits is making up for my BotM. On the other side I can later switch to restoration/blood and make a great healer if MMing doesnt work.
ty for the input

I think necromancer mm is better than rit/n.
Why?
1) Higher lvl minions + *can control more minions* ---> 10 as opposed to 8
2) Blood of the master heals more + can be n/mo with heal area to extend the live of minions
3) Soul reaping... passive ability... sensational (I wish all professions have soul reaping <3 I think its the best passive other than energy storage and fast cast)
4) Death nova, wells, putrid, consume corpse, etc, etc. These death magic corpse control skills is more effective

Necro is best MM but rt/N is the best minion bomber. Because of Spawning power its easier to keep the minions alive in between battles and put death nova on all of them, then just hit sig of creation and watch everyone die
It could work with a N/rt, but since sig of creation is linked to spawning power.... the necro would only reach +1 health regen instead of +6. So with Explosive growth (also linked to spawning power) and Death Nova, you can constantly deal damage creating and killing minions in battle.

Primary N
+ Can control up to 10 minions (ritualists 8)
+ Regular minions have +4 levels more which means more base health, higher armor and stronger attacks
+ Can use Flesh Golem elite skill with no drawbacks to energy management because of Soul Reaping attribute
+ Stronger Blood the Master to heal minions (because of death magic at 16)
+ You have higher armor with certain armor set if you control minions up to 5
Primary Rt
+ Minions have higher base health up to 34% when comparing lvl 14 vs lvl 18 minions if Spawning Power at 16
+ Attuned Was Songkai elite skill reduces spell costs up to 53% but -15 less maximum energy which means you can cast for example Bone Fiend with 12 energy while necromancers need full 25 energy to do that.
+Boon of creation will give you +6 energy and +53 health everytime you summon a creature (Bone Minions will give 6+6 and 53+53) when Spawning Power at 16
+Explosive Growth strikes lighting damage up to 5 foes near the summon
Necromancer minion masters are no doubt more effective when dealing damage with minions and same time protecting the master for example with higher armor set, dark bond or other necromancer skills because they can use the runes so the skills are stronger.
Ritualist minion master create minions which can take more damage, especially armor ignoring because they have less armor but more health. With Attuned was Songkai you can maybe use certain skills from other professions which main effects are not tied to attribute rank or are effective enough with few ranks but cost too much energy for primary necromancers especially when there is not much deaths. Also you can spam a bit AoE style damage (near the foes) in crowded areas when you summon creatures particularly Bone Minions.

RAWR!
NECRO mms are better, hand down!
13 Soul Reaping= each time a minion dies, you gain energy and they die often.
16 Death= Whewt.
Level 26 Flesh Golem= more armor, more damage.
I dunno about you, but with 13 SR energy is never an issue.
Necro Skill Bar: Deathly Swarm, animate minon X, Animate minion Y, Animate Minion Z, Verata's Sac, BoTM, Taste Of Death, Rez.
It all boils down to this: necro MMs click maybe 4 buttons at any given moment. Rits must maintain enchants, and are using tons of skills. Simplicity is key when you're maintaining 10 minions.
kthxbye

I have a N/Me and a Rit/N.
In the battle for MM supremecy, its hard to say.
As stated before, more minions controled by Necromancer, but more healthier ones are controlled by the Ritualist.
Honestly, I'd say the Necro/x is better as a Minion Master than the Ritualist/Necro.
Having said that, if it were Necromancer/x from Tyria only, vs Ritualist/Necromancer Canthas only, the winner by KO in the first round goes to Necromancer/x.
Why? Verata's Ritualist has 0 minions (uses Signet of Creation). Ritualist dies before the time runes out (but is able to cast Restoration before that happens. Necromancer spams Death Nova and minions kill the spirit (still within the 30 second time limit). Ritualist rezes, only to be surrounded by the undead poison bombs. Time is up, Minions explode in a colorful display of green rings. Ritualist dies again.

Looks like this guy's thinking the right thing Also, you can't forget the blood magic Dark Bond which doesn't even need any in blood magic to be effective, but really only the N/X has any space for it.
