The Necro's Minnions: Does this make sense?
Don't know if this has been a previous topic, but I was thinking on this earlier today. Does it make more sense to have the various types of minnions currently available to us Necro's, Golem, Horrors, Fiends...etc, or to simply have a single summoning skill which would bring forth a "shadow" form minnion that is the type of creep you killed? For instance, you kill an ice imp in the Shiverpeaks, and hit your summon skill (for instance, called Reap Minnion), and a "shadow" form ice imp is summoned. It would have the same skill set as its living self, although would have to be a lower level, scaled to your attribute level in Soul Reaping instead of Death Magic. This would fall more in line with the lore surrounding Necromancy in the real world, and to me makes more sense, you are reaping the 'soul' of that slain creep to do your bidding. Personally, I think it's fun creating a Golem from a Jahai Rat, and obviously GW is not the real world, but c'mon, let's be a little realistic about it.
Thanks, Elizabeth
EDIT: hmmmm. Upon looking at the post, perhaps the minnions loose their ability to use skills, it would seem that may be a little too much of an advantage. Thoughts anyone???...

Although theres already a system for minions and such in place, this could make an interesting elite spell. But I'd doubt this would take over the original summon spells.

What you are proposing is similar to Diablo II's Revive.
Since you would have no control over your minions, their special abilities may not activate when you want them to. If you take away their special abilities, they may not be much use. Wild Boar from lvl 5 to lvl 13 (Soul Reaping: 12 + 1), a great improvement, but still, not much.
Creatures with no flesh should not be affected, nor bosses.

Right, only fleshies can be used for minnions in the current system, no need to change that rule. I have not played Diablo, so I am not familiar with the mechanic's of that game. I mean, if you harvest a minnion from a melee unit, it's still a melee unit and attacks as such, ranged is still ranged... The idea of it being an Elite skill is also attractive, but then perhaps the ability of that unit to use its skill set would make more sense if it was the same limitations that the Golem skill has, i.e., only one Golem at a time. Can't you imagine a Tomb's run with a Dryder on your team!!!

Ah, Diablo. Good times. But honestly, this will never happen. The coding it would require, the testing, the huge patch... You're better off just making a Ranger and Taming a pet. :-p
And honestly, I'd take a lvl 26 Golem over any of the things I've killed, especially if they're lower-level and all. But your idea is similar to my other idea, of having a customizable minion. No skills (except for the ability to attack), but you can tweak the casting/recharge time, energy cost, minion level/armor/type, and whatever.

Different game, but yes, in Diablo II IM and the Paladin's Thorns work well with Blood Golem, but does not stack with Iron Golem.
The Spell Revive does exactly as you have suggested, but the more points into that skill (back to Diablo II) the more minions you can control and the more healthier they become. They get all of their abilities that they had when they were alive.

This is a good topic for a Necro Elite, however a few things should be brought up.
They coudnt POSSIBLY reskin every single eligible creature for this skill into an undead for, that would be an immense amount of work for a single skill. The creature would have to remain as it is, however maybe decals on it could be possible. decals are texture paterns that can be applied over anything. So maybe having decals of Scars or like Cuts and such might be possible to distinguish to controled animal.
On the same topic of new Necrotic skills, some of the following skill suggestions were once brought up.
Animate Vampire Bat: Change the Vampiric Horror to a Flying Vampire Bat.
Animate Screamer Minion: Short Lived minion that would be created, pick a target, run to it and blow up, possibly causing Death Nova. (diablo 2 refference)
Animate Hellhound: Was considered a possibility to replace the Bone Horror from the Animate Bone Minion spell.
Animate Wrath: Animate spell frequently used by Vizier Khilbron.
Animate Bone Dragon[E]: 25E, Exploit 2-3 corpses to create a Bone Dragon, can only control 1 at a time.

Animate Scream Minion - what Diablo II reference is this? More like Starcraft Zerg's explosive minions to me.
Animate Necrid Horseman
Animate Skeletal Archer
Animate Skeletal Monk
Animate Skeletal Mesmer
Animate Skeletal Sorcerer
Monsters are already in existance, so why not have the spell to create them? Do they have origins? They were animated by someone (Vizier, the Lord of the Undead - Elona, someone else).

Not the name but the creature. Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction had balloon like ennemies that ran into you and blew up.
