So, GWEN has a number of solo quests and fights where you cant bring anyone along. Any thoughts on effective necro builds for those? Preferably something that mostly uses necro skills. I'm thinking alot of life stealing might do the trick, but I'm not sure it will be able to keep up with being pummeled when you dont have a tank or healer handy...

Try any RA or Aspenwood necro build, they all function under similar conditions.

I like using [skill=text]Reaper's Mark[/skill] with [skill=text]Life Siphon[/skill] for lots of degen on 1 target, apply some codition to yourself and kill it with arragodon's gaze, taking [skill=text]Awaken the Blood[/skill] is a good help too.

Supposedly you can use minion builds as long as you can take down the first mobs alone, I haven't tried that much, but would be interested in the experiences of anyone that has.

Rephrasing, here's my build, I use in Aspenwood and any solo missions, usually it serves me well.
[skill]Arcane Echo[/skill]
[skill]Angorodon's Gaze[/skill]
Free skill, though [skill=text]Blood Drinker[/skill] as a cover condition, [skill=text]Signet of Agony[/skill] for the same reason or[skill=text]Signet of Lost Souls[/skill] if you think you'll need it.
[skill]Life Siphon[/skill]
[skill]Reaper's Mark[/skill]
[skill]Illusion of Haste[/skill]
[skill]Strip Enchantment[/skill] S2= [skill]Plague Touch[/skill]
[skill]Plague Sending[/skill] S2= [skill]Awaken the Blood[/skill]

The coolest thing about this is that [skill=text]Illusion of Haste[/skill] is an easy way to get into combat and have a condition on you when you get there.
But at the same time get out of combat very well, you use it run for 5 seconds(towards to foe if you chose the [skill=text]Plague Touch[/skill] setup) then use [skill=text]Plague Sending[/skill] and your off again, you run 33% faster than your presuers all the time so there's no way they can catch you.

I would be more interested in the "solo" quests if they weren't such a joke. At the moment they only illustrate how "you're an X, gg."

I recommend any class going /Rt and spirit spam the shit out of the opponent for a ridiculously easy win.

Not really related to GWEN, but I have a solo build for a MM Necro.

Fiend, Minions, Deathly Swarm, Tainted Flesh, Taste of death, Death nova, Dark Bond, maybe some other instant damage skills... but the point is to get a minion or better Minions Rolling... Very difficult to do in HM... Nearly impossible, but it will still make things go very well if you can get it started right.
