Default Necro/Elem help

I kind of want a mixed character here:
Nuker/Support

I was thinking of a Pyromancer (fire magick with necromancing supplements).

Basically: Keep myself alive, keep my allies healed and alive, and deal lots of damage with necromancer/fire powers.

N/E

Attributes:
+7 Blood/Death (which one is best?)
+7 Soul Reaping
+7 Fire

I was thinking:
Flare
Well of Blood
Vampiric Gaze/Touch
Something
Something
Something
Something
Rez Signet

So I want to be able to cause lots of damage, heal myself, and heal my friends, while constantly getting energy from the things that die from my nuking via gaze/touch and flare, plus i was thinking about splashing some animate insert monster here.

How can I accomplish this? Kind of taking http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88952 and making it fire based and more offensive, but keeping in mind the support of the allies. Is there any blinding affects from fire or anything like that?

Yes, level 13. I could list all the skills I have right now, if you want to make a good build via that? I plan on getting all the skills somehow or another, via signets and buying them and quests, though. For both classes.

Also I have only Prophecies for now.

This is not the way guild wars works. well it can but you wont be effective.
If you want to be effective, you have to focus on one role.
To keep your allies alive as a necro, you go /rt. Otherwise its not your job.
/e is used for glyphs or ward, certainly not for damage.
The build you linked is designed to interrupt foes actions (and its odd), ice spikes' slowing down effect being the main purpose of the spell here.
If you want to deal damage with fire magic, go ele primary.

Oh, then what role should I be? I don't know a good build. I liked that cryobattery though, a lot.

Alright, you're level 13 PvE character, N/E. Now, first of all I should probably tell you that N/E is not generally considered a strong "general-purpose" combo to complete the game (I assume you have bought Prophecies, correct me if I'm wrong) but it will do nicely enough. Just, quite simply, do not concentrate on your Elementalist spells for damage dealing purposes. You're not an ele, you don't have the energy bank of an ele, you can't handle exhaustion etc.

By far the most common spells that N/E bring are wards. A necromancer is by design a buff/debuff character, in the case he doesn't do spiking (which is only effective in teams full of said characters) or minion mastery. The necromancer curses line is by far the most effective PvE hex line in the game, mesmers may say what they like to dispute that, they'd be wrong.

You're level 13 so you won't have access to the top-level spells for your profession, I assume. When you do get access to those you can do a lot more stuff.

Also at level 13 you really don't have the attribute points to mix up your attributes. You should basically go with spell line X plus your primary attribute. This applies to all caster classes... and more or less to the melees as well.

Good curses to consider that should probably be available to you at this stage:

Insidious Parasite
Enfeebling Blood
Parasitic Bond
Desecrate Enchantments

Ultimately this will be an exercise in futility unless you at least tell us which chapter you're playing.

Indeed, creating and effectively using some of the builds you will find on guru and wiki will be difficult at only lvl13. Thats not to say it cant be done.

But yes, you may want to try the curses necro for damage. Moloch has stated some good skills to try. Maybe some AoE skills like [card]Reckless Haste[/card] or [card]Suffering[/card]. And once you get capping elites (might be a while). id go for [card]Spiteful Spirit[/card] or [card]Spoil Victor[/card].

As for your ele secondary, necros dont often have energy problems once the deaths start happening, but you might want to try [card]Glyph Of Lesser Energy[/card] or wards such as [card]Ward Against Melee[/card]/[card]Ward Against Foes[/card].

But dont try to force your character to be something its not, as it (usually) wont be very good at it. Let the eles be eles, and necros be necros.

I am playing Prophecies, and I have only prophecies. I've gotten as far as Lion's Arch, and done all the quests up to this point for both skills and otherwise. I'm now level 14. I'm using the cryobattery build - the elite skill and one the maelstrom for now.

Hexes and curses, you say? So Soul Reaping and just do straight hexes? It seems like there's hardly a point to being an elementalist then.

The point im making is that a Necro can be supported by the elementalist skill line, but they will always be better at being a necro than anything else, in the same way that an ele is better at being an ele than anything else.
The skills which you may want to take are support rather than damage skills, hence my suggestion of the glyph and wards.

Energy Storage: Aura of Restoration, Glyph of Lesser Energy
Earth Magic: Armor of Earth, Eruption, Ward Against Elements, Ward Against Foes
Fire Magic: Fire Storm, Fireball, Flare, Lava Font
Water Magic: Blurred Vision, Ice Spikes, Ice Prison, Frozen Burst, Shard Storm
None: Ressurection Signet

I'm currently running: Blood Renewal, Well of Blood, Vampiric Gaze, Shadow Strike, Blurred Vision, Ice Spikes, Frozen Burst, Ressurection Signet
+7 Blood
+7 Soul Reaping
+7 Water

I use the insightful Soul Shreiker
I use power 30 armor with +5 energy and the legs and crotch guard have +1 energy restoration or something like that, and my face is a Soul Reaping +1 scar.

If you DO want to dabble in the elements as a Necromancer, I would only really suggest doing this through Summoned Creatures.

Summon Ice Imp
Summon Mursaat
Summon Naga Shaman
Summon Ruby Djinn

A few notes about summons

- Only one can be activated at a time for the entire group
- They have 1 spell in their skill bar
- They will wand targets while their spell is recharging
- Will not run out of energy
- Is not a priority target for ennemy AI

Now I'm not sure which campaign you own, looks like Prophecies at least so you would only be able to access them if you were to get Eye of the North

And he is only level 14 - needs to be level 20 to use GWEN (and the OP says he is only using prophercies) so he is a long way off getting summons........

Take the advice given.... until you get to level 20 focus on your primary , you don't have the spare attribute points to dabble in your secondary.

I minion mastered my way to level 20 (this was before heroes who can do it better) was a lot of fun - But you could concentrate on curses or blood.

remember that an ele at the same part of the game as you is going to haver stronger attributes in the ele line because he can use runes that you cannot

you can use runes to increase your necro skills so play to that strength.

(My first char and one I still play was a Warrior / Elementalist ) I soon found out I didn't have energy to power the spells and spent my time using warrior only skill (finally changing secondaries when I got to the desert)

ok 2 help people and to ask 4 help. If you be n/e just for glyph of lesser energy your not using it for its full potential (i guess you av to do it for ss). Anyway i masterd to support my party with aoe using
icy veins,
rising bile,
taste of death,
putrid explosion,
bitter chill or soul feast depending on monks
tenai's heat,
meteor.

however i havnt mastered n/e solo i find it hard to kill even a few moutain trolls in talus chute and when i do its fluked. I would just accept its no gd 4 solo but the official game guide for prophecies says it gd 4 solo. Can som1 help me out. Ping me a build or something.

Not to burst your bubble, but that won't happen. Keeping yourself alive as a N/E necessitates Blood Magic. Keeping your allies healed is impossible as a N/E, although [skill]blood bond[/skill] will help out a lot if you know how to use it. As far as dealing damage, Fire Magic works great for that.

If you want to support your party, consider a three attribute spread between Soul Reaping, Blood Magic, and Earth Magic (for the wards) or Soul Reaping, Blood Magic, and Curses.

As a Necro, a proper use of Curses will help out your party a lot more than trying to use elementalist spells. Consider these for starters:
