Maybe she can't keep a secret. (may blab story to b/f)
Walk from Piken's Square to Grenich Courthouse. Then from there to Nolani Academy. Then from there to Yak's Bend (or you could go from Courthouse).
You think the Char are tough? Walking to Yak's Bend will show you how tough other monsters can be.

At low level, the walk is OK with henches until you get to the Hydras. I usually mision my way to Yaks, though sometimes a guildie will arrange group runs for low level players.

I'd die, get resurrected, run to the side to cast spells on a few while the rest of my party was fighting, and they'd all leave my party members and come after me instead, killing me within a few seconds. I swear they're getting stronger. Do they(get stronger)?

Hmmmm...A couple questions come to mind.
First, your armor. Enemies have secret info on you, such as your armor level and maximum health. They'll frequently target the character they judge as weakest, and it's often based on your armor and health. Once you have Death Penalty, you are a logical target, of course, but they're sizing you up even before that.
So, just to make sure, are you wearing armor purchased from Corwen in Ascalon City (armor level 30)? If not, I would upgrade. Also, are you using any runes on your armor that decrease health (major or superior runes)? At this early stage of the game, that can be very detrimental. If you come across any weapons that have a health boost, they can help you avoid aggro as well.
Second, how are you approaching enemy groups? Casters have it a bit different from weapon classes. When a warrior player, for instance, begins a battle by pressing 'space', it is seen as an attack by his henchmen, who will also immediately begin attacking/casting. Whichever ally attracts the enemy's attention first will likely get the initial aggro. When a caster begins battle by casting a spell, it is not seen as an attack by the henchmen, so the caster will almost always get that initial bit of aggro.
The way around this as a caster is to signal your henchies to engage the enemy first, by calling a target. This is done by highlighting the enemy you want to target, and pressing Shift+Control+Space. Once your target is called, your henchies will begin moving in, and receiving the initial aggro. As soon as you see that the enemy has noticed your allies, you can safely start casting.
Sorry if you know all of this. If not, it may help you control battles a bit better.

i hate people who charge to help with missions from low lvl players. I just find it annoying beyond all belief, even worse than griefers

ctrl-space will call the target and attack with the wand/staff, making the henchies attack with you.
shift-ctrl-space will call the target without attacking, so the henchies will attack before you.
I was suggesting the latter.

No doubt, a very good suggestion and the most prudent way to initiate a fight.
