Are there any good builds for a N/R?
Im a lvl 15 N/R with most of the skills available up to lions arch.
What would be a decent build to run on my character?
Or should i just start over....

I can't think of any good build involving a Ranger secondary to a Necromancer. If you don't mind starting over, you can do that, but I don't think you'd need to. Wait until the Crystal Desert to where you can switch your secondary. Even then, there's lots of things you can do with just a Necro primary.
Unfortunately, I don't play Necro, so I can't give you a specific idea on what to play. The only suggestion I would have had would be a MM with a pet that you could re-use for corpses, but that tactic was nerfed a little while back.

Hi
I don't believe its a common build, I ran a N/R through prophesies and changed secondary to monk and later mesmer after ascending.
That's quite a bit into the game so if you think its a problem you might want to use another character slot and try something else while you think about it.
You will not be handicapped much by just using the necro skills so its no big problem staying as you are for a while.
The only build I found online for a N/R was a farming build that used the running skills of the ranger to dodge mobs of monsters.

I'd suggest focussing on the necro skills, and on no more than two lines. Maybe Death + Soul Reaping, minions are powerful. You can pretty much ignore your Ranger skills for the time being if you want; both necro and ranger are pretty self-sufficient, and as you're a primary necro I'd suggest concentrating your points there. If you feel there is no synergy between ranger and necro - and I would say there isn't much - you'll be able to change secondary later in the game.

An earlier thread on Hex Shutdown builds lists this skill bar. a N/R build for RA. I couldn't find any N/R builds on pvxwiki, good luck.

N/R appealed to me from day one. Mainly because I liked the idea of using a pet, as well as minions. For a good part of the game, I was able to balance the two. But later on (after ascending) I realized the pet idea, in general, was no longer feasible.
However, I still play as N/R. Mainly to keep [skill]healing spring[/skill] in my bar. It does a nice job in sustaining my minions and healing the party.
I also call on my pet for solo quests and farming, now and then.

The only real reason I can think of to use /R secondary would be for Serpent's Quickness, if we're talking "general" and not BiP support role w/ spirits. Maybe some speed boost or so on or so forth... or the odd Distracting Shot.

^Yes, [skill]serpent's quickness[/skill] is very useful, indeed. However, after I moved on from Prophecies to the other campaigns, the bigger selection of Necro skills forced it out of my bar.

Perhaps troll ungeant? Go wilderness survival skills since expertise is out of the question. Go blood, possibly curses for now.

There is one very, very good reason to go /R
[skill]Winnowing[/skill]
This skill is absolute murder on a minionmaster. And you don't even need much spec for it to be usefull.
IMHO, the only thing you should be using from ranger is one of the spirits, or one of the stances, or Distracting Shot (mostly for PvP). If you are using anything else, particularly pets, you are wasting skill slots that could be filled with minions or hexes.

I've used this build with a good amount of success, especially on solo quests:
[skill]poisonous bite[/skill][skill]charm animal[/skill][skill]virulence[/skill]Putrid Bile Necrosis[skill]Vile miasma[/skill]Hexer's vigor [skill]comfort animal[/skill]

Not when you have a high rank in SR. Hexer's Vigor is so much better.

1. You will be able to change your secondary later, so need to worry about restarting.
2. Yeah, /R is pretty much useless for a necro.
3. Best bets are:
a. Broadhead arrow and/or distracting shot. (But you'll be able to change your secondary before you encounter very many foes that are really worth interrupting.)
b. Serpents quickness for some support builds. (None of which will you have use for before you can change secondaries.)
4.

First, no one wants a lvl 15 PvE character in RA.
Second, RA builds almost always suck in PvE, and this one is no exception.
Third, it's not a very good RA build to start with.

Ebon Battle Standard of Honor does the same job, only much, much better, and without requiring any attribute investment or sticking you with a secondary class with no decent self-heal. (Before anyone mentions troll unguent, the awful ration of cast time to uptime makes it a total non-starter for MM purposes.)

Not that I can think of. I've used a pet to bootstrap my way into a MM solo farm, but there's nothing it farms reliably that stoneflesh/invici builds can't handle faster and easier.

Blood/Pet isn't very popular, and will probably get me flamed, but I think it is quite fun.
Cast blood spells while you use pet attacks.
Edit: Do not remake your character because of a bad build, or lack of good ones. Only remake your character if you are not 100% happy with the looks + name.

Doubt it, sorry.
Just go with your primary and use Curses or something, maybe Death Magic for the minions?
Mind you, thats not a good idea in Kryta....

A decent build is pure necro. It really doesn't matter what your 2ndary is, only because a Necro is just plain awesome. Out of the 6 core characters, they are the 2nd best at healing themselves/others. Out of all 10 professions, they perhaps have the 3rd most healing skills.
I think Apply Poison will work on a wand/staff, I've never tried it, but I think it does.
Bow skills are not useful for a Necro. You can try using Order of Pain with a bow or pet. Weaken Armor, or letting your pet tank, while you use Enfeeble + Price of Failure + Insidious Parasite.
Running skills from the Ranger can be a nice touch (since necros can't run). Since you are lvl 12, don't worry about builds yet, no elites, not at max attributes, and no max armor with good insignias. Right now, Kryta isn't too hard, so having good builds is unnecessary. You don't need a good combo build with a necro, a pure necro is still the best.
