There are a load of annoying binding rituals beside Duncan that chuck balls at players. Disenchantment is the biggest threat because the Necro needs Protective Spirit so Duncan's Rt spells don't kill in one shot.

Killing the spirits simply causes them to re-spawn but moving the spirits out of the way, by using Swap, means that the Necro can stand in the unthreatenening comfort of a corner and kill Duncan alone.

No, the necros aren't on strike. But Umbral Grotto is filled with a bunch of UB twits who aren't interested in taking a necro for the first 4 sub-quests unless they're R10 ursan, then wonder why there aren't any necros ready to do Duncan. Duh! It's not like there's magical all-necro groups out there somewhere pushing swap necros through the first four sub-quests. (And a necro who can H+H the first 4 can easily H+H Duncan.)

Most Slavers PUGs are either ursan or tank-n-spank. Ursan could put it on any of the ursans, and that player could do the swapping at the end after they didn't need ursan any more, but thinking that hard might hurt the average ursan. Tank-n-spank uses most of its skillslots and doesn't have room for an extra rit secondary. Only the ranger and the necro have the room on their bar for it, and the necro has fewer demands on their skillbar.

How lazy can you be? Who would actually wait an hour just to find a necro, when you could take another ANYTHING and just spend 5 more minutes killing duncan?

You can kill Duncan in HM with 5-6 ursans and two monks rushing in and throwing all caution to the wind. No necro needed. How about that for originality?

Is it possible for a Mesmer to kill Duncan with Backfire + Empathy and other anti-caster spells?
I had an argument with another party member in an Ursan PUG while we were sitting there waiting for a SV Necro to show up. He consistently stated that SV was the only skill that would work against Duncan, and I got tired of it, so I eventually left.

There are lots of occasions where people think the absolutely HAVE to have a specific build...Most of the time the secondary gets over-looked because people don't think 12 is high enough in the attribute they need.

I've had to Necro as a Ranger and Monk as a Necro....creativity will often help you limp along through the problem and sometimes (surprise, surprise) get you through with flying colors.

Folks flaming you for your post only means they thought about it, did it, but never thought to post because for them it seemd obvious....the flames come from the friction caused by trying to remove their heads from between their butt-cheeks whilst trying to think of a meaningful post...don't give 'em a thought, they usually suffocate themselves in time.
