Heh, I got to the Maguuma jungle before I realised running a N/W with warrior skills was a bad idea when I first played.
Pretty much any build works for most of PvE (just not very well), so don't worry too much.

The difference is between what's good and what just works. People have vanquished with empty skill bars-- doesn't make it even remotely efficient, but if you get more enjoyment from running bad builds then knock yourself out.. just expect that you will have frustrating times and lots of pug hate.
Welcome to guild wars btw.

Get heroes and henchmen. Then you neither need healing from blood magic nor crappy sword damage from a 60-armor frontliner.

Sure you can just go 55 N/Mo well this mostly for farming. There isn't much use for Warriors skills.

It's hard to advice people with only one campaign. If you want to run a minion master build you can actually run one (albeit quite poor) option with Healing Signet. Just, well, don't try to use your signet while under fire. Seriously though, that idea kinda blows.
You need some sort of healing as a minion master running with healer henchies. They run out of energy faster than a bucket full of holes.
Bottom line, necros usually want to load up on caster heroes when they're green, this is a bad idea. Go with physicals and Barbs and Mark of Pain.

N/Me is the best combo I find, after N/A...
If you have Nightfall, get cry of pain for your necro asap from Kamadan. Thank me later.

Found out that 2 of my friends play Monks, so healing isn't to much of an issue anymore.

Also I realise that a N/W isn't a very efficient build but it's fun to play, at least for me. I know that if I were to play PvP I would get pwn3d in three seconds but if I wanted to play PvP I'd make a PvP character with a more efficient build.

Everyone seems to be forgetting the N/W Survivor Build, possibly the greatest necro build ever made.

[Soul Leech] was in it too, if I remember. It was pretty good. It got improved several times, but I wasn't strong, or brave enough to run it.
