I'm a little stuck at Augury Rock. I have no idea how to get through the Doppleganger, as I've been playing a N/W with focus on Curses. ((You lose massive points if you point out a N/W sucks, because I'm well aware of its flaws. I use it for the challenge and to do something different.))

Basically, if you could give me a good build for an N/W or just Primary Necro to get through Augury Rock that'd be great. At the moment my Doppleganger has all the powers I have to simply regen his health to max each time I make any head-way. We went for an Epic 10 minute duel first time around until I just gave up realising I wasn't getting past him, and he wasn't getting past me without one of us letting our guard down.

What elites do you have? Do you have Spiteful Spirit? If you do an SS/Insidious Parasite combo with a bunch of other non-healing skills (maybe barbs, soul barbs, reckless haste etc), you can basically just stand there and let him kill himself with Spiteful and Insidious. In less than 2 minutes. Yeah it's cheap but who cares.

All you do is switch your secondary profession to mesmer, switch out all skills for Backfire and useless spells that you won't use.

Cast Backfire (and Insidious Parasite along with it), sit back, and watch yourself get master's in less than ten seconds.

In the end I took:

Defile Flesh, Enfeebling Blood, Insidious Parasite, and Frenzy.

I put my sword away, targetted him, cast insidious parasite and it was done. I was being stupid giving myself healing powers incase it went on a long while. Killed himself. What I didn't comprehend is how the Doppelganger is a machine.

He can't change his secondary if he hasn't ascended.

Characters can only ascend through methods from their own campaign, and any campaigns before that (or so I've always thought). It depends on which campaign he started his character in, but anyway.

Assuming you have no Elite skills yet, taking Insidious Parasite, Enfeeble and Frenzy should allow you to beat him quickly.

Cast Insidious Parasite and Enfeeble on the Doppleganger, and then just wait. He'll attack you, deal little damage due to being weakened and also heal you thanks to Insidious Parasite.

Frenzy isn't there for you to use, it's for him to attack slightly faster, another Warrior IAS can be used as well.

beating your doppelganger is just easy , just bring ebon assassin , echo and arcane echo.
Doppelgangers can't copy any PvE-only skills , so he won't be able to do anything with the echos, just cast arcane echo->echo->ebon sin->echo->ebon sin and so on. dont worry to get killed by his psychical attacks, bcus the sins will get him down very soon. it's an easy build for all professions and works great too on hard mode

Not true. Everyone can ascend through Prophecies and Factions missions, and Nightfall characters can ascend in any campaign, Proph, Factions and Nightfall.

Put all your attributes in a melee weapon, bring your chosen melee weapon.

Equip no skills except for frenzy. Don't use frenzy.

Will take you less than 2 minutes, this is how I did it with my WoH monk except I brought healing signet and mending too.

I see you already got it.

N/W does NOT suck, you just make a necro build and throw shield bash on.

He never said which campaign his character is from and you can ascend in any campaign.

If you have the EotN expansion I'd suggest running through some of that and picking up the Norn skill "Ursan Blessing". The doppelganger can't copy it and they go down ridiculously fast. I've used it on casters to tank my way through quite a few things, actually.

He's a necro, enfeeble and insidious parasite are prophecies skills, no need to make it more complicated.

Bring frenzy too since you're a warrior secondary, but you don't even need a third skill to get the bonus in normal mode.

Cast enfeeble and insidious parasite on him, and just walk up and let him melee you.

Necromancer, Wand, 12 Curses, Insidious Parasite (strip other skills from your bar), get as many hitpoints as possible (full +vit set) set at slot number 1.

When entering the arena, press Tab to target Doppleganger, press 1 to cast the spell on Doppleganger, do not attack (i.e. do not press space).

Wait until Doppleganger dies, reapply Parasite if necessary.

Works under both Normal and Hard mode.
