Nope. Discord is spammable, armor-affected Cold damage; Necrosis is spammable, armor-ignoring damage that doesn't require an attribute investment (but cannot be used by Heroes since it's a PvE-only skill, or else it would be Necrosisway, hands down).

Discord deals armor-ignoring damage, not cold damage.

But Necrosis is indeed the better pick (for the human Necro) because it's less conditional.

Ugh, this is what I get for posting while I'm half-awake. Must have been thinking about Icy Veins, but I could have sworn that at one point Discord dealt Cold damage... /facepalm

That's assuming you have decent ranks in sunspear...but even then, it can only spit out 90 damage at a time max, where discord with 16 death + masochism + consumables can spit out over 1.5 times that (142 armor ignoring damage at 21 death magic, which is easily achievable). Having it linked to an attribute means you can boost it.

It's a tradeoff you have to make between damage, attribute spending, and meeting spell conditions, and if you gotta spike something down, I would personally choose discord, or carry both.

I don't know what necro would waste their elite on discord when a decent, and arguably better sub is available.

It's all about AP.

Rank 7 is attainable with no serious points farming and you're dealing 80 damage at that point. Getting max rank is really not that arduous of a farming effort.

Now you're comparing "Elite Skill + Damage Buff Skill + Cons" to "PvE Skill"... hardly what one would call an equal comparison...

You're ignoring the fact that Necrosis can be used to the same effect by anyone capable of carrying it (Necro primary or secondary), it does not require attribute investment, Runes, or a second skill slot to increase its capabilities, and it does not occupy your Elite skill slot - which usually, but not always, defines your attribute investment.

The only two reasons that Discord is popular are because it can be used on Hero+Henchmen teams (since people are fond of whining about how crappy PUGs are and CBA to find a group of friends/Guild/Alliance to work with in-game) and it takes minimal effort to use. End of story.

Now I need to quit before I derail this Thread any further...
