Default Help with my necro build

Hey guys I made my first necro last night, didn't get too far did the first 3 missions it's pretty fun I all ready bought 2 elites, SS and Life Transfer and some stupid ranger elite because I thought I could get that elite that heals both you and your pet... Nope that skill was from factions.

Anyways I find it kind of hard to keep my minions alive, is there any tricks? I use that one spell vertata's sacrafice I know they lose like 3 health regen every second but they are definitely dying way too quickely. Every time i get a good amount, 4+, they all die and I end up struggling to get 1 or 2.

Right now here's my build

Animate bone fiend
Vampyric Gaze
Awaken the Blood
Insidious Paraste
Spitefull Spirit/Life transfer can't figure out which I like better
Charm Animal
Troll Ungent

If you didn't read I am a Necromancer/Ranger, There probably is a better secondary but I wanted a pet :P

I don't got much just all Prophecies Skills unlocked, and I can afford to buy elite tomes, that are Prophecies or Core.

If you could help me with a build or give me some tips that would be great. Thank you!

Start with this then post your attributes because I'm assuming you will have points in 4 attributes which will be a major part of the problem.

I'm at school on proxy and it's running slightly slow at the moment, I'm level 6 so I have 30 points in attributes +3 from runes. Is that what you mean?

edit: Oh, I see what you mean. No I just have points in 3. Death Soul Reaping and Crurses/Blood I can't remember what skill set SS is in but I definitely made sure I put points in it :P

in the early stages of the game all professions will be low level and low attributes - but these increase as you raise levels untill you reach lvl 20 and 200 skill points.
At 16 deathmagic ( +1 death magic head with superior death magic rune ) the minions will be a lot tougher , do more dmg and some instances last longer - also at that level you can raise 10 minions max.

Depending on campaign id check wiki for attributes and it will give details where the 2 quests ( 2 for each campaign - eg prophs chrs will have a diff set of attribute quests than a canthan chr would have ) are located.

Hi and welcome to the wonderful world that is necro.
When you start in gw you get skills thrown at you from all different areas and its hard to find 8 skills to make a decent build

Spiteful spirit, insidious parasite are from Curses
Vampiric Gaze and awaken the blood are from Blood
Animations are from Death
Charm animal from Beast mastery
Troll Ungent from Wilderness survival.

That's not many points spread across 5 skill lines.
When you think about a build consider putting your skill points into no more than 3 different skill lines.

With points concentrated in Death with some in soul reaping and wilderness survival, you have a Minion master style build and when you get blood of the master you can keep your army going longer.
The more points in death the stronger your minions and the longer they will last and until you can heal them they are short term only

Spiteful spirit means you need lots of points in curses to make that effective and Vampirc gaze needs points concentrated in Blood to be effective.

You cannot do everything but you can make a large number of interesting Necro builds all very useful and fun to play.
