Err - would you like us to spoonfeed you as well ?
Apart from lack of info - which campaigns you have and heros etc its hard to suggest anything really.
Necromancers are a buch of crap - which planet did you come from ?
Necros have a wide scope of use , anything from mm to bip , curses necro ( works well with 7hero discordway ) , also necros have a nice source of energy .
Lets see , 55 necros are still used for farming and tbh theres probably a lot of teams out there that requires a necro.Err necros also make great spirits spammers for obvious reasons.
Ive not yet seen an abundance of out of work necros sitting around - especially at xmas with the snowball quest (heck anyone sniffed a necro they straight away invited them to party ).
All i can suggest is go and visit gwpvx.com and get some ideas from there - or as you think necros are crap , reroll a new chr.

Markway is the best you'll get out of a necro. Anything else you try will disappoint.

Woah, what? Since when were necromancers in need of an overhaul? They're the only class that has NEVER needed serious buffs in any area. They have the single greatest primary attribute in GW which makes them INCREDIBLY versatile characters. The only thing they can't do effectively is interrupt an enemy. Even their minions can be a great tanking method. SS is a good skill, unless you dual cast it (archane echo). Then it becomes amazing. Blood magic isn't all that popular in PVE, which is fair enough. Damage is far too slow, but in PVP it's very useful. I think there is even a meta build for it somewhere. And I'm pretty sure there are several builds that include necromancers (where the player's profession doesn't really matter) You have to be the first person I've ever seen to EVER complain about necromancers needing an overhaul.

if you're getting bored as a necro with AP calling in PvE, this is a variant using malign intervention as your calling skill. bring some discord/mm heros & run this on yourself
12+3+1 DM
12+1 SR
3 curses
malign intervention - feeds necrosis & discord
veratas gaze - capturing minions as soon as foe dies (does not affect hero MMs)
weaken armor - feeds necrosis & discord
discord - extra spike damage (126 armor ignoring) spam
necrosis - extra spike damage spam
masochism - lets you make minimum level 20 minions (level 21 with candy corn)
any 2 PvE skills of your choice depending on area

Don't run Discord when you have Necrosis yourself... IV is the only plausible choice and take Putrid Bile.

Run a hero casterball and take something like Fevered Dreams yourself. Or just carry on AP spiking and don't bother with the Dervs, but whatever.

This.
If you're feeling bored with Nec skills tho, try something a little weird. Go N/E and focus on spinal shivers and cold damage with a melee weapon. See how long you can keep your energy up. It's not super effective but it totally changes the play style, to be sure.

Try Order of Undeath, the heroes don't handle it very well, but it's very strong on a hume in the 8 man areas. Use a combination of Bone Fiends and Vampiric Horors with masochism.
Also, with the new minion window you can target your boys easier, making it more effective to buff them with stuff like great dwarf weapon, or death nova bombing. You could have fun managing the flesh golem if you wanted.

Dude I can completely understand where you're coming from, no one likes to get stuck in the same playstyle It gets old. Fortunately for you, necro is probably *the* most versatile class in game, thanks to soul reaping which even after the nerf it's the only prof where I never, ever have to even think about emangement.
Meta-game builds are meta for a reason, they're the super l33t most effect haxz0r zomfg for killing things..but yes, they're BORING. A/P caller...SNORE.
I've been enjoying the death magic line lately (but not lazy style MM )
Icy Veins + Putrid Bile + Rising Bile = epic explosive fun when they die, combine that with stuff like deathly chill/bitter chill for teh spam dmg to start the chain, throw in some blood bond for everyone else. No it's not particularly unique, but it's fun as Or if you're sick of IV, try a curses/death mix?

I think this problem is wide spread across all professions and players.
The problem: People only play the few "meta" builds over and over and over again, then start to complain how easy it is to beat prophecies in NM with 7 heroes and a mix of NF and eotn skills (pve skills included)
The thing is your necro has access to over 1300 skills across all professions... ofc some of them arent going to be as powerful as those "meta" builds but there is a reason why they are "meta".
Let me give you a example:
Instead of going 3 necros and a few rts and mesmers try going warriors, rangers and paragons and run your necro a with a order build.
Sounds boring? Sounds weak? No casters in the party whaaaat!?!?
Be honest, this example is something completely different than what you used to play isnt it? But youll most likely just ignore it and complain how among 1300 skills and 8 characters in your team everything thats not "meta" is load of crap...
