Default I have no idea what I'm doing.

OK SO, I got to 20 on my necro years ago. I never finished the story nor have I gotten any signet capture skills.
A friend got my profane armor during this time too (most of it had +energy, I dunno if that can be changed.)

I'm looking for a build that I can start with and some advice on what to do. I just got EotN and I have Nightfall too.

I don't care if its "easy" or "cheap". I mainly just want to get to my Hall of Monuments so I can get some achievements for GW2.

You'll find everything you need if you search. There are HoM guides on the wiki and reddit, among others. Builds can be found on gwpvx wiki.

First off, welcome back to GW and yes, you can always remove and add other runes to your armor.

And you obviously have the Prophecies campaign, but do you also have the Factions campaign? I'm just asking because some HoM points can only be gained from there.

As for your build, I would highly recommend you invest only in Soul Reaping and one other attribute of your choice. Start with Death Magic since that generally has good DPS skills. Also, since your heroes probably don't have many skills unlocked, I recommend you try to not use them and just stick with henchmen whenever you can. Also remember to have 2 healers (Monks or Ritualists) when you're in a party of 6 or 8.

Feel free to ask any other questions, but try to be specific

Can you give a link about the HoM thing?

I dont have factions.

I don't really know what else to ask. I tried doing the Thirsty River ascension mission with some heroes and henchmen with my old skills (some minion summons and curses) and got wrecked.

Try to not use your heroes for now. When you do Thirsty River again, get Orion (Ele), Claude (Nec), Dunham (Mes), Alesia (Mo), and Lina (Mo).

Could you take a screenshot and upload it to imgur.com ? I'd like to see your build. Don't forget to open your skills tab by pressing "K" and make sure you attributes are visible and please scroll down so we can see what Death Magic skills you've unlocked.

*edit*
Just tried thirsty river with that henchmen team, couldn't get past the first wave, none of them would attack the priest over the mini-boss and there wasn't enough dps to kill the mini-boss fast enough.

I suggest you change your attributes to 12+1 Death Magic (which you already have), 8 Curses, and the rest in Soul Reaping. I notice you have some Blood Magic rune equipped on your armor but Blood Magic isn't very useful in your situation, so I wouldn't invest points in it.

Change Vile Touch for Weaken Armor, Animate Bone Minions for Animate Bone Horror, Shadow Strike for Defile Flesh, Faintheartedness for Resurrection Signet, and take out Life Siphon and Parasitic Bond. I highly recommend you go to Kamadan in order to talk to Pikin, the Hero Skill Trainer, buy Necrosis and equip it in one of your empty slots.

After you do all of that, most of your DPS should come from Deathly Swarm and Necrosis. Make sure you only use Necrosis on a target that has a hex or a condition; if it doesn't, then cast Weaken Armor. Save Defile Flesh for the enemy Monks and animate some minions whenever you have a corpse within casting range.

Also, keep in mind that in Thirsty River, all enemies associated with an Enemy Priest will resurrect at the 2, 4, 6, 8 minute mark. So plan your attack right after those times.

Ouch, so you had better success with your heroes?

OK so, I'm doing ok damage now (thanks to your build) but I dunno what to do with this mission, I've tried both a mix of my heroes and henchmen. The issue I seem to keep having is that my team's AI doesn't want to rush the priest after finishing off the mobs before the fight, they get caught up on the mini-boss (which I still can't kill quickly enough) and then 50 seconds later all the enemies respawn.

are you calling the target or just letting them kill whatever they feel like?
If you call the target they should all move to attacking that target. (if you are and they are not, not sure......)

would also reiterate that you should use 2 healers (you should have both Dunkoro and Tahlkora at your disposal--you can set one up for healing while the other could prot). Which of the acolytes did you take (jin-ranger or sosuke-ele)? Eles are still pretty hard hitting with a few skills unlocked.

FINALLY!
I didn't know about calling targets...that helped...a lot...
I had to try out a few different henchmen comps though. Melonni wasn't cutting it so I just went with Tahlkora, and the henchmen mo, me, n, and e.

I had some issues with the AI pathing, they didn't like to get in LOS and sometimes calling targets wasn't enough to get them on my target. On my successful mission there were a few close calls with the group not putting out enough damage and leaving just a few seconds on the clock before the enemies respawned. I also didn't complete the bonus but I don't really care about that.

Thanks for the help everyone! If I get stuck on something else Ill BE BACK HERE BECAUSE IM A SCRUB!

glad we could help....and we will be here if you need us again.

Might also add you can flag your heroes/henchmen as well--just in case they feel like going their own ways (yes alesia I am looking at you and Vekk....). Also you can change them from attack to guard or passive (when you click on their number when you are in an explorable there are 3 boxes to pick from)....you should keep squishies (casters) on guard at most (some put healers on passive), so they dont go running off...and aggro more mobs.

I'm glad you managed
I noticed you really want to use your heroes so I'll give you some simple build suggestions so you don't have to use henchmen that are below level 20 again. In order to buy some of these skills, you may have to change your secondary profession to the appropriate profession, by talking to the Profession Changer in Great Temple of Balthazar.

For Gwen, the Mesmer from the Eye of the North, equip her with Cry of Frustration, Power Drain, Shatter Enchantment, Empathy and Energy Burn (both from Pikin in Kamadan), Mistrust (from Tohn in Kamadan), and Signet of Return (from Shiloh in Sunspear Great Hall). I'd set her attributes at 12 Domination, 10 Inspiration, 8 Fast Casting.

For one of your Monks, give him Cure Hex, Patient Spirit, Spotless Soul, Spotless Mind (all from Micah Fergson in Eye of the North), Dwayna's Kiss (click this link to see how to get it), Divine Healing (likewise, click the link), and Resurrection Signet. All attributes should go in Healing Prayers and Divine Favor.

For your second Monk, give her Protective Spirit, Shield of Absorption, Shielding Hands (link), Aegis (link), Dismiss Condition, (link), Cure Hex, and Resurrection Signet. Her attributes should be 12 Prot, 12 Divine, 3 Healing.

Buying all those skills may cost you some platinum and could be a hassle but, in case you were interested, that's what I'd recommend.

Edit: I partiall agree with everything that Marty Silverblade said. Enfeebling Blood is great and you can see where to get it from this link.

if you still have a character slot open you could make new characters ---I do this to unlock skills I didnt have (and they are cheaper for new characters )...you can then delete that character if you dont want them....This works well with nightfall since you can get to the skill trainer pretty fast in Kamadan.

-Running two hybrid monks is a vastly better option than running pure heal and pure prot monks.
-Backliners shouldn't be taking resurrection skills. That's a job for midliners. Having said that, you don't have midliner heroes and the henchies only carry rez signets, so it's acceptable for now.
-Enfeebling Blood is very very useful. It needs to be on the bar somewhere, especially given the lack of prots that you have unlocked.

All titles in Guild Wars 2 are purely cosmetic and offer no benefits other than showing them.
