I've found that for BiPing running at 55 and bringing Vigorous Spirit works pretty good. Health gained from VS almost completely offsets the sac for BiP although I dont remeber the exact numbers. Does that seem good or would I be better off sticking with Blood Renewal?

It'll probably work fine.

I don't disagree with using Necrosis that way; that's been the main value of Blood DDs like Dark Pact / Blood of the Aggressor, which have been supplanted entirely by Necrosis.

EotN added both "Finish Him!" and "You Move Like a Dwarf!" - the former is a much, much stronger finisher than Necrosis, while the latter does comparable damage at max spec, in addition to functioning as an interrupt, a stun, and a snare. The only real value Necrosis has left is spamability; if you aren't making use of that, both of those shouts blow Necrosis away.

I'd certainly look at Necrosis if I didn't have EotN, or if my titles weren't developed much; Sunspear gets to r8 without much effort after all. Once you get to r6-r7 Norn, though, I don't think it's even a fair comparison between the skills anymore.

I would like to note that I have been running the Wail of Doom Minion Bomber I posted as an example build for some time now. It's working excellent as a hero build - it's been my "standard" build for Olias now for some time. The exact skill bar is:

Wail of Doom - Power Lock - Power Return - Animate Bone Minions - Taste Of Death - Feast for the Dead - Death Nova - Signet of Lost Souls

DM 12+1+3 SR 11+1 Domination 6

I hardly ever find a reason to change it.

Edit, suggested change to Cry of Frustration from Power Lock seems great, especially since change of WoD to 10e.

Last time i checked, hero ai was really bad with Wail making it useless on them....but you could use the new key binds.

On the contrary I find it very useful on him. It seems hero AI prioritizes interrupts of attack skills with Wail, if you pack different interrupts on him, but will still use Wail if needed to interrupt non-attacks. I find the build extremely versatile, with an output of 1 interrupt/2.5 seconds, one of which attack-disabling, one either AoE-interrupt or spell-disabling. It usually saves me the trouble of bringing another interrupter unless I'm running physical anyway.

=*= How do I make a "55" Necromancer for farming? =*=

Example build follows:

Necromancer/Monk
Curses 12+1+3
Healing Prayers 9
Protection Prayers 9
Soul Reaping 2+3
Blood Magic 2+3

How do you get Curses to 12 and Healing and Protection to 9 at the same time?

If I set Healing and Protection to 9, the highest I can raise Curses is 10...
There's just not enough points to do what you are suggesting..where am I going wrong?

Or is there some way to get extra points at level 20? (I'm thinking I read something about that, but not sure right now..)

Ok, here:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3008318

is a great guide for 55 solo farming..you might want to throw a link to it in your post, since you said you didnt really want to get too involved in that type of build advice...

He mentions that you need to do the 15 point attribute quest to be able to pull off that point setup...now I just have to do a few searches for those quests

One is from Vanyi in Droks and is called "The Hero's Challenge" and the other is given by the Forgotten that you talk to in the quest "Forgotten Wisdom" recieved in Destiny's Gorge.

Regarding Necrosis:

You do not appreciate the fast recharge and low energy cost. "You move like a dwarf" has a KD and 80 damage, but also costs 10 energy and has 10 recharge, "Finish Him" deep wound and 80 damage on top of that with 15 recharge. Of the two I prefer YMLAD, sure, the KD is very nice and it is a very strong skill, it has more utility than Necrosis.

Necrosis goes very well with Signet of Lost Souls and adds 90 direct damage spell that Necros did not have before. It can kill things almost on its own, and that is the point of it.

This is my usual curses build when I am alone with Heroes. I use the Vanguard Assassin with MoP and use Necrosis when the other skills are loading, give it a try. You will have energy to use it.

http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/?title=S...lgd wuYZQV1NI

1 Spiteful Spirit
2 Reckless Haste
3 Mark of Pain
4 Enfeebling Blood
5 Vanguard Assassin (use on MoP)
6 Barbs
7 Signet of Lost Souls
8 Necrosis

When I am done casting hexes it usually goes like this, 8, 8, 7 ... another hex or 8...

On a sidenote, I considered the input regarding Icy Veins in Hard Mode and replaced it with Discord.

At 16 Death Magic it is 115 damage, and if you have a SS Necro or another Hexer the requirement of any condition + any hex is fairly easy to achieve in PvE.

It makes also a good boss killer or gives the MM something to do in case he runs out of Minions. The AI does not spam Discord as one would wish, but it knows when to use it and does it quite well.

Yes, Discord is definitely better than IV when fighting monsters posing any form of real threat. I don't think either is strong but, meh, it's not like it won't work for most things.

I'll try to make some minor updates to the OP today or tomorrow.

You're right, because I am spending my time and my energy casting better spells with stronger effects. I don't care if it's cheap and spammable if it's the worst skill on my bar. Flare and cheap and spammable too, but if you're making good use of that fact your character is pretty awful. The same tends to go for Necrosis.

Ah, see, that's the difference. Instead of having a cute DPS combo on the tail end of my bar, I simply push the shout buttons and make that enemy die. Then I don't need to spam Necrosis on an enemy because it is already dead.

Once a couple enemies are dead, sure all of your skills are recharging, but who cares because the mob is no longer lethal and you're just regenning energy for a few seconds until you finish cleaning up the mob.

Moloch thank you for writing and sharing this guide. As a newbie I can say first hand that the effort you put in to it is much appreciated. It has been a big help in building my char.

I have a couple newbie questions, maybe someone can at least point me in the right direction...

Take your "generic" SV build for example, when you say Blood Magic 12+1+1 and Soul Reaping 12+1, where do the +1s come from? Scar patterns? Insignias? I don't understand how they work, what does and doesn't stack, etc.

Also, I can only get up to 12 points in one attribute and 11 in the other, how do you get 12 and 12?

Blood Magic 12+1+1
Soul Reaping 12+1

Means:

Blood Magic specced at 12 with a head scar of +1 Blood Magic, on which you put a Necromancer Rune of Minor Blood Magic
Soul Reaping specced at 12 with an armor part including a Necromancer Rune of Minor Soul Reaping

The scar pattern stacks with a rune of the same attribute. This is the only way to get 16 in an attribute. (12+1+3)

The reason you can't spec 12-12 (rather, 12-12-3) is you haven't done the attribute quests for your character.

Very nice guide.

The necro was my first proffesion I played and.. the only character/ proffesion I havnet deleted 'yet'. So.. I've been playing for somewhat.. 18 months. I started off as a blood necro, went on to MMing which then lead to curses (My faveorite Attribute, other than Soul Reaping ofcourse). So.. I've been using SS builds for a while now, obviously. I've got loads of chars and proffesions.. But the necro is one of those classes which I visit, do something new, and then.. leave it for a bit and do something more... exciting.

I like the Necro class as a whole, but imho.. SS gets boring as fast as any other Elite. I've played around with that Elite (weaken knees or something like that) the one that kds people every time you cast a hex on them (forgot the actual name lol, and cba to login to my necro atm ;s), and yeah.. Me and my necro have had some good times in PvE. But.. are SV and SS the only curses skills that are of any use in PvE. I want something.. different, something interesting, something to get my necro full Elite Luxon (Monster Fangs/ Claws *sobs*). And I've also tried healing which is boring too.. lol.

So.. dont get me wrong.. The necro is a wonderful and enjoyable class... Not really for the long term imo. But anyway, why I'm posting this.. is cus I want some1 to give me a build, or a build idea... something exciting, something intreaging.. Not something I've done before.

Anyway, Ty (If youv'e read it ;p),
Qdq.

No, I think you could make a strong case for Enfeebling Blood being the strongest Curses skill overall, and for Barbs being the strongest offensive hex, given the right team setup. Mark of Pain is definitely a stronger "nuke" spell than Spiteful Spirit if you run physical weapons - only problem is the twice as long recharge... and it's not even an elite.

I can't enough stress the wonders of Assassin's Promise as an elite for a Curses necromancer in general PvE...

[skill]assassin's promise[/skill] At first, I thought, "Oh, it's just an energy skill" then I reread it. ...and all your skills are recharged. That is an amazing Nec buffing skill! I checked over this thread and can't find any other reference to it. If you were to use this skill in pve, what curse skills would you use?

I'll presume these...
[skill]mark of pain[/skill] [skill]barbs[/skill] [skill]enfeebling blood[/skill] [skill]signet of lost souls[/skill] [skill]assassin's promise[/skill] What other 3? and would you choose this over an echo ss build for pve? Again, great skill, I can't believe I haven't already seen this one.

Well... a Mark of Pain nuker focuses on neutering enemy offense, because he isn't depending on enemy attacks to deal damage. This is unless you run dual Curses necros (one MoP/AP and one SS)... and even in this case the amount of disabling you can do is pretty silly. Think Hard Mode and Meekness+Shadow Of Fear+Reckless Haste+Enfeebling Blood... 66% less damage with 50% less attack rate and 50% miss chance AoE...

Also all the physicals on your team combined will hit the called target more often than he uses a skill or hits anything himself... and Mark does more damage per hit than SS.

Key is target calling and hex timing.

Rigor Mortis. Vocal Minority. Well of Darkness. Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support. Finish Him. Some other stuff.
