it's totally obvious. lower your hp as much as possible within your budget, understand the underlying principles of what makes the build work, and farm the things that you are able to farm until you can afford to upgrade. upgrading lets you be able to farm higher thresholds of damage and ROI. wash rinse repeat. what's hard about that, other than the actual practice with the build?

Whatever man... At the time the 55 monk was introduced it was fairly revolutionary - ie. most people never thought of running a character with a HP level that low.

Using major runes and DP to lower HP is not obvious - it's one of those "oh, why didn't I think of that" things. Obvious for some but not all.

If you don't need help with making a 55 monk you might be better off posting in another thread. Please stay on topic (which is making a 55 monk, NOT INSULTING THOSE WHO IT IS NOT OBVIOUS TO)

all i'm saying is, this thread is redundant. go read the builds section on guildwiki.org and be done with it.

I think this thread is incredibly helpful.

And I also think eudas should stick to guildwiki to save everyone else a headache.

And I definitely think he should stop "signing" his posts with his name. We can read it on your avatar.

There was a question by an earlier poster about if you had to be lvl 20 to do this and I haven't seen a response to it yet. So...

I started my "55" monk at level 6 - actually by the time I started farming, it had just turned 7. Here are the factors that I had to play around with. With every level, you gain 20 pts, so you have to install your runes piece by piece as you level up. Now, I started with superiors, but the principal would be the same for majors, just different numbers. I also got the -20 offhand from I believe it is the Fires in the East (or North) quest. This offers a little more flexibility in managing your hp's to where you want. I also use it if I die with my 55 (as a level 20 now) - instead of 1 hp, i'll be 13, I believe. My actual hp varied between the teens, and 30's or so as I was levelling up, which actually is better than 55 . At level 7, I tried to do the Elona Reach minotaurs, but since I didn't have many attribute points, they were dying a WHOLE LOT slower than I wanted. So, I farmed the minotaurs outside the Ice Tooth Cave for a few levels. I think I went back to Elona Reach around level 10 or so. Then I levelled up quickly from there. Also, I didn't get Shield of Judgment right away - I used Zealot's fire for a while, which fits more in line with the "economy" aspect of this thread. Since a run to Droks would be part of the cost of starting a low level monk and getting SoJ.

So, now with Sup Runes quite a bit cheaper, and Majors changed to -35 and more than 100gp, the idea here has probably become less effective, but yes, you can start at a low level. The main drawback is not having many attribute points to actually kill anything.
