When it comes to a you and a sword...
Do you only like the rare skins? Or will you take bare minimum to get the job done.
Luxury is somewhat a part of my playing experience and i'd like to know how many monks out there only go for the colossal scimitars or the crystaline. Also how many monks take a short sword and slap on one under mods on that.
Just trying to get a good sense of what I should purchase and if it even makes that much of a difference to the players you play with.
Thanks!

Isn't there room for a third option? As in: I pick only the skins I like, be it collector, or uber rare, doesn't matter to me. I love the Colossal Scimitars, hate Crystallines, and neither opinion is swayed by cost in the least.

Hmm really it comes down to a type of person u are...
there are shallow ppl that buy +5 en Crysts because they are rare, they have no sense of taste or even dont like them, its just coz they will have it and u wont... and there are ppl that buy +5 en cryst because they like them... and there are ppl that make pvp chars and win battles no matter what they have in hand...
So it depends on type of person/age they are...
All the crysts and fows in the game cant make up for bad player... so there it goes...
Smart ppl always go for the thing they like... no matter of the cost... cleaver of cryst... whatever makes u happy... only shallow & empty ppl pick things by their value...
my 2 cents...
afcourse how many players that much opinions... so... make your own...

I definitely go for something cheap, but a REAL good skin. Such as Inscribable Fellblades and such. If you can get a good skin, for cheap, then it's perfect

I choose a sword that I think looks nice...not what the community prefers/dictates I have. These are not necessarily rare skins... for example, I'd rather have a gothic sword over a crystalline anyday (unless I was going to sell it on ) - because I think they have a far nicer skin.
I do however prefer gold weapons over collectors. I just like the fact it is gold...that's basically it. If you open a fair few chests, as I have done, you generally come across some reasonably nice weapons which, although may have no great sale value, I can mod them up to what I want.

Hmmm , personaly i dont care mutch about skins ( at the moment)
For me it is the mods en specs of the weapon that counts.
Maybe in a few year when i'm realy rich , i'm going to care about skins , just for the looks , but not at this moment.

I use an axe on my monk because I like it. If you like the skins that are expensive, I really don't care - I never look at anyone else's equipment anyway. So just do what you feel like.

I go for personal taste, and as it happens my taste often doesn't exactly follow rarity. Most of my favorite weapons aren't the most common but not really very rare either. I'm also pretty down to earth when it comes to item color. I'll gladly go with cheap non-golds and sell the golds I find, as long as the stats are max and the skin is indistinguishable. This works out very well financially.
My warrior uses a perfectly modded max blue req 9 Sun and Moon shield for example, and one of his swords is a perfectly modded req 10 purple tattooed scimitar.

It's all a matter of taste. I have a male warrior from Elona who wears sunspear armor and carries a maxed out brute sword because I like the way the crude look of the brute sword goes with the armor. I have a female tyrian warrior with ascended canthan armor who only carries a katana, because I like the way it looks. I love finding crenalated swords because I think they are ugly, and other people will give me gold for them.
I try to match the weapon with what I think that character would want to use. That probably sounds odd, but I play the game for me, not anyone else.

I used to use Rajazan's Fervor. Now I use a +5e/20% enchant req9 Gemstone Axe because it looks similar to a Totem Axe but different enough to confuse people who see it into thinking I got a deformed axe.

I have the same view on the matter. The sword should fit my character, rarety doesn't matter. I like a shinobi or katana +5 energy sword for my monk, simple but it fits beautiful to give that asian monk/samurai theme to give one example. Prob is those are even more rare to find than a crystaline which looks stupid on my monk. Had to pay 50k for a req.10 +5 energy katana and looked for months to get one like this. Alrdy had several blue req9 ones from the crafter but wanted a gold one. BTW WTB req 8 +5 energy katana or shinobi blade lol.

I monk with a katana crafted in the Cathan end-game zone, because I love the skin. I don't care if a weapon is blue or gold, as long as the skin and stats are fine.

I'm using Rajazan's Fervor for my monk as well. Of all the sword skins I like the katana best, not just me it seem.

I've been using Shak-Jarins sword for sometime now, mostly because of it's stats, not because I like how it looks, but typically speaking, I like to get swords that look cool, again, not just ones other people think look cool so that I can so off, but as long as I like it, I'm happy.
I have a gold Flamberge I plan on using as soon as I find some decent mods for it.

Seems the Katana is more popular than I thought, maybe that's the reason why I can't find a req8 +5 energy one....

I concur that it would be a matter of prefrence.Rare types do LQQk nice but bare bones minimun have room to customize. Scrimitar axe over sword...

It all depends on the skin.
In terms of Swords and Shields my favorites are the BroadSword, the Gladius[Elonian Style] and Shield of the Lion.
I prefer these weapons since they are actually realistic looking, and not retarded like Chaos Axes,Fell Blades and the like.

For my monk: collector's prot & healing staves (modded), totem axe/grim cesta combo, other specialized stuff for particular situations (Dazed reduction, Yakslapper, etc.). I suppose I could build a sword for her if I felt like it, but the Totem Axe works fine for that purpose & looks OK. For me, stats come first, then looks, and I really don't care what the rarity or price of an item is.
